He has 0 tackles after 1 half? Is he playing? He wasn't on the injury report.
I don't know when in the game, ain't wachting it.(KFFL) Indianapolis Colts LB Pat Angerer (knee) suffered a knee injury in Week 13 and is considered questionable to return.
Just finished reviewing this game. Certainly room for worry on this one. I'm not certain, but it looked like this could have been a non-contact injury; at minimum, he tweaked an earlier injury coming up to grab a loose ball. Angerer has been on the injury report at times this year with a knee injury, too. Knowing how little the Colts release about injuries, this could be a multi-week injury based on the tea leaves above.AJ Edds played every down after Angerer left, but looked terribly slow and wasn't physical at all. He was around the ball enough to get eight tackles (seven solo), but he's not going to put up Angerer-like numbers and he'll have to play better to keep the job if Angerer misses significant time. Not sure what this says about Angerer, but the Colts just claimed Zach Diles.
If Angerer is out this week, who do you think has the best chance for a surprise stud game for week 1 of the playoffs? Baltimore is a good matchup for the Colts LBs, who knows between Sims, Conner, Wheeler, and now Edds. Not looking for 3 tackles, looking for the guy forced to tackle Rice 8 or more times. At least the game isn't in Indy, or we would be looking at 2 solos and 8 assists for each Colts LB.Just finished reviewing this game. Certainly room for worry on this one. The Colts aren't likely to give much information. Caldwell said only that he's "coming along" today. He'll be listed questionable this week, but every indication seems to be that he'll be out at least this week. It's now also being reported that AJ Edds suffered a foot injury late in the game last week.Has anyone heard anything else about what happened to Angerer? I'm going to be hurting without him in the playoffs.
I think Brackett is as good as gone from the Colts. Even if he decides to take a pay cut to stay I would think he'd just be a back up at this point. Angerer should be your starting MLB for the Colts next year if you are just basing things off of who is on the roster now. Conner would continue to play the weak side and Wheeler on the strong. A couple things to consider outside of the likelihood of the Colts cleaning house too. One, normally we aren't big players in the free agent market. Of course, there is a new GM in 'da house so maybe that changes but me doubts it. Two, Brackett is making some serious dough to be outperformed by Angerer (and Conner and Wheeler and for good measure maybe sadly even by Sims). Three, which could be the counter-argument to Angerer (or just as likely go in his favor) we're back to the new GM thing. Which will bring a new head coach and new DC almost guaranteed. If they don't like Angerer maybe somebody else is picked up in the draft but I still don't see Brackett sticking around as the starter and likely not even on the roster. And even if they go with a rookie MLB I doubt they beat Angerer out. He's one of the few bright spots that shined through off of this 2011 roster. I am a firm believer he sticks. And if your league rewards assists like mine does then you best be holding onto the dude from Iowa with one of the coolest names ever like it's a parachute in a plane gone up in flames! Keep himAnyone got any insight on Angerer for 2012? Does he stay at MLB or go to WLB or SLB with Brackett coming back? Wheeler was putting up some nice numbers too and was grading out well, but I don't know if he was playing WLB or SLB?Rotoworld currently has Angerer at SLB with Bracket at MLB and Kavell Connor at WLB. Ugh.
I don't think switching to a 3/4 is likely. I don't have any legit reason why I say that but as a Colts homer I would be seriously ticked if that happens. If it does then the entire defense MUST be completely revamped. The personnel simply isn't even close to being there. And I don't like thinking about that because that means our sorry butt defense gets even worse short term. Angerer has a nearly 100% chance of retaining the MLB spot in a 4-3 defense. Brackett has almost no chance of being a Colt. And I love the dude. But it's time to move on. I agree with the previous post that he'll have a hard time even finding a gig somewhere else after he's cut. Yes, he'll make $5 mil out of it. Man, wish I was him...To finish, Manning won't be back. I'd give my right arm (or at least half of it) to have him back. But the writing's on the wall now. Less than 365 days ago I remember saying there was no way Manning would ever play for another team. Now I say it's 40/40/20. 40% he retires. 40% he's somewhere else. 20% he's a Colt. And the only thing I want more than another Colts Super Bowl is Manning to be back for at least one more year and never to play for any other team again. But not liking the odds either...Brackett is signed through 2014 (FA in 2015). He has a cool $5 million coming his way in 2012. With all the signings they are gonna have to make to revamp that team and with all the money they have tied up in Peyton (I believe they are keeping him) and Luck, can they afford to drop Brackett?I agree that Angerer is probably the best they have at LB. But landscapes can change immensely during offseasons. Another thing to consider is the DC they bring in. What if he is a 3-4 guy? How does that effect Angerer? Just throwing things out there to ponder.
