Patriots would take Randy Moss for a 3rd round pick (1 Viewer)

The Patriots reportedly "would take" Randy Moss off Oakland's hands, but probably for nothing higher than a third-round pick.

Al Davis would never make that deal. He reportedly still believes Moss is the best receiver in the NFL. Moss is highly unlikely to be dealt before Tuesday's deadline.

The rest of the NFL thanks you Al. Moss would be a beast in that offense.

Please. The Raiders want a first for Porter. What do you think they want for Moss? There is no way he is going to be traded.

I not that surprised to see the interest as they seem to like what they have found in D.Gabriel. Plus, it's Randy Moss. I think it was Randy who was upset to see DG go, no? Maybe DG talked to some of the NE coaching staff about Randy.

OK, let me get this straight. NE feels Moss is worth a 3rd, yet Branch equals a 1st. Have I got that correct?
Did the Pats get a first for Branch? Why not just trade that first for Moss? Its like trading Branch for Moss - and thats definetely an upgrade.

Its called "negotiations" people.

This could be interesting as far as "value" when you factor in the salary (or more accurately salary dump).

On another line, I wonder how much T.O.'s shenanigans affects Moss and potential suitors?

:goodposting: As a New England homer, the front office has a set of big ones to make this statement. If Branch is worth a first rounder than Moss is worth 2.Maybe the Pats can use that extra first round and give it up for Moss. Hell give them one of the first and a third.Branch for Moss...I think that is a huge upgrade.

Al would never do that trade. The Patriots would have to give up so talent plus a draft pick to get Randy Moss. But in the future, I think Randy needs to get out of Oakland and find a team that has been winning for a while.

The Patriots have two #1's this year. I would give one of them up for Moss if I was the Patriots. Their wr's just aren't getting it done this year. Randy Moss is clearly worth a late round #1 pick to a team that is close to going back to the superbowl.

The front office didn't make a statement here. This is from an article and the "statement" was by the WRITER.Quote from actual article:

Believe me — New England's Bill Belichick would take Moss off of Oakland's hands. But the Patriots aren't prepared to trade a first-round pick for Moss. Maybe a conditional pick in that neighborhood, but nothing higher than a third-round pick right now.
This has nothing to do with the Patriots. 100% speculation.

Any team that REALLY wants Moss better be ready to give TWO first round picks.

Any discussion before that is idle speculation.

(OK BB, let's give up those picks!)

Maybe, and this is just a stretch here, but maybe the Pats don't want to waste a 1st round draft pick on a guy like Randy Moss who might pull a "Randy Moss" on them. Maybe they would only take that risk with say a 3rd rounder.

I'd never question the genius of Belichick, but aquiring a "me first" player like Moss would be very un-Patriot like. Kind of like selling their soul. I guess he figures he can keep him in check... who knows.
I know we Raider fans are all bitter and disapointed right now, but Randy Moss is not a me first player IMO. He is someone, IMO, trying to mature the past few seasons and be a leader. From all reports he practices hard and is almost like a rah rah guy on the sideline and pre-game warm ups (this I see myself every home game, the guy trys from pre-game on to get every one hyped to play). Randy wants to win, and he wants to be a positive influence to go in that direction. How can he or any player, including Jordan and his warrior/positive attitude accomplish this with the caos around this entire organization? (though they did get the ticket situation right this year...hey it's a positive) :bag: :banned:

is it really a coincidence that TO and Moss seem to break teams. its like poison in the lockroom. how many more teams must TO ruin before people just give up? has Moss taken any team to a championship? all he has done is cause trouble imo. hes got a fat huge almost untradeable contract and a big mouth.

yea teams are just lining up around the corner for this guy :sarcasm:

Beat me to it.
People need to actually read the article. It has nothing to base the idea that the Patriots "feel Moss is worth a 3rd". It's one writer's complete 100% speculation.
Moss and Tom Brady would equal the #1 QB + WR tandem in the NFL.
