Pats - injuries and destiny (1 Viewer)

Is destiny helping to allign the pats with the first undefeated season since, well we all know who already holds the last undefeated season how could we forget. Specifically are injuries to players on the other team helping to fortify their status as the best team ever?

It really started with the redskins game where half of their line and both Smoot and Carlos rogers went down during the begining of the game or the week before. Turning a strong running game and stout passing defense to a bunch of backups.

- Colts - Harrison, two starting LB's (Keiaho and hagler), LT Ugoh, Gonzalez injured first series, Dallas Clark concussion early in the 2nd quarter - all but crippling the receiving corp and line by the end of the game

- Bills - Lose their key player Lynch game before - Pretty much their only offensive weapon

- Eagles - And now Eagles are without one of their most key players Mcnabb and they get to rely on Feely

All of this while the patriots whole team has pretty much remained in tact less the loss of Sammie Morris (can't count harrison being out earlier as that was a suspension). Now obviously we have no idea if any of these teams would have beaten the patriots even at full strength, most likely not and probably the colts still would have been the only chance to do so but it has just made it that much easier for the Pats to run up the score and look like the best ever. But I think given the run of injuries a lot of teams could have run up the score on these teams. So is destiny on their side with these injuries? We will know soon enough if Polamalu, parker, or roethlisberger can't go against them here in a couple of weeks. Looking good with Polamalu already out for this game.

you have got to be kidding.

I'm seriously asking --- is this a sarcastic joke post to troll up more pats talk?

Yeah, its sure freaky suspicious... perhaps another "_____gate" is at hand...( :excited: ;)

...and it really should upset the Patriot Nation front because this just taints even more the validity of this season :)

None of those is even nearly the equivalent loss as a Lynch, Harrison or McNabb to their respective teams..

those guys don't count -- he's talking about difference makers like loseman.I think this guy should rep lynch if he thinks he's worth 50 ppg.seriously, though -- like most of these pats threads, he's just trying to stir up some bs.

Seymour has been to five straight pro bowls, is likely the only hall of fame player other than Brady on the squad during its run this decade, and is considered one of the best D Lineman in football. Marshawn Lynch is not yet in his class.

Yep. The key for the Patriots is that they have drafted for crazy depth over the years on the OL and DL. That means they can lose someone like Richard Seymour for several games and have another guy step right in.

I said "...to their respective teams" Not comparing these players to NE players.

Going back to this original post - First team that the pats have played at close to full strength since what week 7. Steelers did end up losing palamalu for that game. Giants kinda had something to play for in week 17 but not really, Miami already had won their one game right before playing the pats they obviously could have cared less. Jags were with a 50% henderson at most, chargers - did they play with any of their stars? and the pats never had to face the pack, colts or cowboys in the playoffs, and they still come up short to the first team that was pretty much as healthy as they were. Dont get me wrong the pats were a good - and almost great team - but they were annointed immaculate way before they really accomplished much of anything.

Two good points here. First, the Patriots' serious opponents were almost always wounded with a key player out. Second, the Patriots, minus a Moroney (who is not crucial considering their team is built around the pass), were pretty unscathed the whole season. Having Faulk injured during this game may have been the biggest hit. Or Brady's ankle (?). The truth was that the Giants were at pretty much full-strength and the Pats may have been ailing...it all comes to roost!!!
