Pats vs Jets (1 Viewer)

I don't want to get you anti-Brady people in an uproar here (mostly because I need him to come up big this weekend) but here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the weathermen are throwing around the word "Nor'Easter" every now and then which would mean absolutely atrocious conditions for not only the Patriots game but any other game taking place in the northeast.

are people talking about Noreasters for sunday because i live around here and have heard nothing of it.

Can anyone enlighten me?

If you mean you live in new england than i advise you to just turn on your tv and watch a weather report or 2...then you may be enlightened

Weird, the game forecast is mild, but if you check the 10 day forecast for Foxboro, MA, Sunday says Rain/Snow/Wind 25 MPH and a 70% chance of precip? WTF?

Live around where, Boston? 4, 5 and 7 all had it on the news tonight and they were talking about it on WEEI. The details are still fuzzy I guess, but it could turn out to be a major storm.

The National Weather Service in Boston is talking huge storm - from their forecast discussion.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...

-- Changed Discussion --***ACCUMULATING SNOW EXPECTED LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT WITH

THE HIGHER AMOUNTS EXPECTED SOUTH OF THE MA TURNPIKE***

***A POWERFUL NOREASTER MAY AFFECT THE REGION SATURDAY NIGHT INTO

SUNDAY BUT CONFIDENCE ON TRACK AND PRECIPITATION TYPE ARE LOW***

THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT...

A DEAMPLIFYING SHORTWAVE WILL MOVE RAPIDLY ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW

ENGLAND LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING IN COMBINATION WITH A

WAVE OF LOW PRESSURE THAT MOVES OVER OR JUST EAST OF THE BENCHMARK.

THE ECMWF STILL HAS A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SOLUTION THAN THE GFS BUT

IT APPEARS TO JUST BRING THE LOW A LITTLE FURTHER TO THE EAST THAN

THE GFS. EITHER SOLUTION BRINGS SNOW AS THE MAJOR PRECIP TYPE

BEGINNING THURSDAY AFTERNOON...IT WILL JUST BE A MATTER OF HOW MUCH IF ANY

SNOW FALLS NORTH OF THE MA PIKE.

WENT WITH A SREF SOLUTION FOR PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS FOR THIS PACKAGE

AS IT SEEMED A GOOD COMPROMISE OF THE HIGHER QPF AMOUNTS ON THE GFS

AND THE LOWER OF THE OPERATIONAL NAM. THESE PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS

WILL GIVE US THE POTENTIAL FOR 3 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW MAINLY SOUTH OF

THE MA PIKE...WITH 1 TO 3 INCHES POSSIBLE NORTH OF THE PIKE.

FRIDAY THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

UNSEASONABLY COLD BUT DRY WEATHER EXPECTED. USED MAVMOSGUIDE FOR

TEMPS FOR THIS PERIOD AND TWEAKED FROM THERE. THESE TEMPS ARE

SOMEWHAT COLDER THAN MEX GUIDANCE FOR THIS PERIOD BUT CLOSE TO THE

PREVIOUS FORECAST.

SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A POWERFUL NOREASTER TO AFFECT SOUTHERN

NEW ENGLAND. MODELS DEPICT A DEEP SURFACE LOW WORKING ITS WAY UP

THE EASTERN SEABOARD AND ENDING UP ALONG THE SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND

COAST SATURDAY NIGHT. HOWEVER...THIS IS STILL A WAYS OUT AND MUCH

CAN CHANGE IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG

WINDS ALONG THE COAST AND HEAVY PRECIPITATION. IT LOOKS LIKE QUITE

A FEW FACTORS WILL HAVE TO COME TOGETHER TO HAVE ANY COASTAL

FLOODING...GIVEN A FAIRLY LOW HIGH TIDE OF 9.5 FEET AT BOSTON. MORE

DETAILS TO COME ON THIS STORM IN LATER DISCUSSIONS.

http://www.crh.noaa.gov/product.php?site=N...p;highlight=off

Every single computer model shows a huge storm on Sunday up in Boston - It is uncertain if it will be rain or snow but it will be heavy precipitation. Too bad so sad for Brady owners.

Caught this on Boston.com

The long-range weather forecast indicates that snow could be a factor Sunday. If that's the case, the Patriots would have history on their side, as they are 9-0 all-time in snowy games in Foxborough:Dec. 4, 2005 -- 16-3 win over the JetsJan. 16, 2005 -- 20-3 playoff win over the ColtsJan. 18, 2004 -- 24-14 playoff win over the ColtsDec. 14, 2003 -- 27-13 win over the JaguarsDec. 7, 2003 -- 12-0 win over the DolphinsJan. 19, 2002 -- 16-13 overtime playoff win over the RaidersDec. 4, 1983 -- 7-0 win over the SaintsDec. 12, 1982 -- 3-0 win over the DolphinsDec. 10, 1978 -- 26-24 win over the Bills
9-0 baby!!! Let it Snow!!!

You're not the only one who lives in Boston my man. I watched 7 news tonight and they were hyping up Sunday as a big time snow storm, not "a little rain".
Duck!

Rapid-fire weather here in the next five days. You blink - or oversleep - and you might miss something (except Sunday's storm - you'd have to be in a coma). So get out your grocery list, we have a few items to add.

I'm talking snow here. First storm up is on Thursday. Potential for up to 3-6 inches of snow in some spots (mostly south of the Pike) as a quick moving system scoots just to our south. But the storm coming Sunday could make that look like child's play.

Bet you want that like you want a Charlie in the box for the holidays.

We're talking big-dogs-in-tall-grass-event here. Our 1-2 foot snowstorms are typically of this type of setup: cold in place, storm coming up the coast. The only question is, will the mix and rain stay on the Cape/coast or will it push back into Metrowest.

For that reason, I'm still a little bit clumsy with the exact snow amounts.

I've scheduled all my guys to play down south and out west along with inside domes this time of year. But hey, thanks for the concern.

I dont understand...E V E R Y weather forecast is saying BIG storm sat.nite into sunday...expecting up to a foot of snow. What weather are you watching  ...if it`s the weather channel...DONT ...they are never right.

FIRST of all, I haven't seen any news breaks or updates to indicate an impending NorEaster. And yes, I live and breathe in New England!!! The weather up here changes by the minute. No way on earth there is a storm producing 3 feet of snow this weekend. The largest storm ever to hit this are was the "Storm of the Century" in December 93. his storm just dumped a heap of slush on NE. Lots of high winds, yes, which can certainly be a problem. But no way 3 feet of snow. Sorry. Right church, wrong pew.

You live around here also ? Good ,you wont be hard to find.

Snow / Wind High 28mph27°FPrecip70% Forcasters around here(ne) are saying this may be a significant storm.I know it`s early...just something to keep an eye on this week.
I hope it's a freaking blizzard. I'm gonna need a few extra points from the NE DEF to win my game based on match-ups. I could go for 8 sacks, 4 turnovers and a shut-out. Oh yeah, is a DEF/ST TD or 2 asking for too much? :goodposting:

For what it's worth, the latest I've heard on this storm...and I'll remind y'all it's still days away....is that the major impact time would be overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Even with the early start time, the bulk of the weather should have moved away. Then again, this is Wednesday. I would suggest holding your anticipation until Saturday. The picture should be much clearer then. *understatement*

Yeah, NOAA out of State College PA, who are generally the last to publish bad weather until it's a done deal, are now talking about it. If the storm tracks through us here in central PA, NE is surely going to get blasted. So any games in the northeast on Sunday are going to be in bad shape methinks. It's looking more and more like the cold air will be in place to keep it mostly a snow event north of the Mason-Dixon line.

thehornet is full of bad info in this thread - everyone is predicting a big storm.
hey, im not trying to stray anyone the wrong way. i think the storm is very hit or miss. it could be big but it could be rain. we'll have to watch the weather pattern ofver the next day or two.

Saturday night and Sunday, models are hinting (basically flat out telling us) that the weather set up is ideal for a major nor'easter. As of now, I think it'll be an all snow event that has the potential of dumping nearly a foot of snow! The big question mark is if warmer air gets pulled, how much will that knock down snow totals? The storm is still more than 4 days away and the track will determine everything. All eyes are on it (that's 6 between Pete, JR, and me) so we'll watch it for you...
http://www1.whdh.com/weather/You could be right hornet, it could be rain. I'm not going to pretend I am a meteorologist or anything. I'll defer to the so called "experts" on this one. Its not fair to say "no one" in Boston is expecting a foot of snow. I've overheard several people talk about it this morning. Turn on WEEI, they sure have been talking about it as well. Ultimately, will it affect the outcome of the game? No. The Pats will still win, but it might end up being 28-7 instead of 56-7

being a pats fan and also playing against Brady in the fantasy playoffs this week, i am hoping for a low scoring affair. Hopefully 28-7 as you state above.People in my office this morning have been talking about the storm this weekend as well so I guess it is looking more and more likely. :bag:

I'm home today folks. The weather station is on my tube right now. I'll let you all know what I hear about this impending Northeaster.

My quandry is that it could hit Cleveland as well. I have both Gostkowski and Dawson. Even if it is a wind event tht i not good for kickers. Plus I have Eli going Sunday night in NY!!!!!

Weather guy on right now... Possible Northearter on Saturday night into Sunday morning time. He's still looking at all his models.

Also - storm tomorrow afternoon. Just in time for rush hour trafiic!!! I may have to stay home again! :(

I own Brady and Moss -- went 13-0 in a money league . Even if the weather is bad and it looks like it - anyone who benchs these two for the bigest game of the FF season is foolish. Brady is maybe the best bad weather QB in football and Moss for all the negativity he got for taking plays off plays well in elements as well. Unless it's a litteraly Hurricane force winds Play em both and don't lose any sleep.

From my company e-mail box on this weekend's weather (I work for an electric utility):

Low pressure is forecast track from the Tennessee Valley, early Saturday morning, to southeastern Delaware by early Sunday morning. Based on this track, there will be a large swath of heavy snow up the Appalachians into the Northeast, with the risk for some ice and gusty winds.

Depending on the exact track of the storm, snow or a mixture of snow, sleet and rain will be likely. It is too early to determine amounts, however the mix with sleet would favor Zones 6 and 7 (central Maryland) and the heaviest snowfall would favor Zones 5 and 8 (NW and Central PA) where nearly a foot of snow is possible. The reminder of the Zones except for Zones 1 and 2 (SW WV) would favor more than 6" to accumulate. There will also be the potential for wind gusts to exceed 40 mph at times which could result in occasional blizzard conditions in areas of all snow.
HTH

No doubt. I think even the most pessimistic (or optimistic depending on your perspective) of us are just thinking the storm my counter the Jets-revenge factor. I'd still expect 300 yards and 4 TDs from Brady.

Well, I seem to remember a playoff game a few years ago in Foxboro that slowed down a passing game. But I think it would take extrodinary circumstances for the weather to slow down the Pats passing game. It could snow all night on Saturday, and the field could be fine. Only really heavy snow before and during the game would be a big deal, as in the case of the Raiders/Pats game.

Playoff rosters die in by game time Thursday for the wekeend ... looks like Welker may be a toss-up four days ahead of time.

Great ... counting on playing a guy based on the predictions of statisticians who couldn't cut it but looked good on camera.

:goodposting: Playing a Welker/Moss owner so I'd love to see them flop - but if I had one or both, I would start them. Brady can still do well even in a storm and frankly, I'm not sure they havea run game to use otherwise.Which should work well for them as the Jets seem to have no run D. :P

Watched the local news real quick this morning, they said the storm will be coming saturday night into sunday. They're not sure if it will be snow, sleet or rain or a mix. BUT they did say that it could/should be out right around the time of the start of the pats/jets game. Right now a mix of snow/rain is predicted for foxboro, but it could change to all rain. Most importantly though, the storm might be gone by the time the pats/jets kickoff.

Freudian slip, perhaps? :thanks:

I used to know a weather forecaster for a local TV station. He once told me not to trust any forecast more than 3 days away.
