Percy Harvin, WR, Minnesota Vikings (1 Viewer)

Roto:

Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave wants to utilize Percy Harvin "as often as we can" against the Lions this week.

"We'll want to keep growing (Harvin's) package so we can get more production out of our entire offense," Musgrave said. Coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Harvin's illness Thursday is a stomach ailment, not related to migraines. "We know there's a distinct difference what's happening with your stomach and what's happening with migraines," Frazier said. "... We fully expect him to be back out here (Friday) ready to go. He should be fine."

What you guys want to trot him out and block for AD every play? I'm fine seeing a FB or TE being out there, because I'm almost 100% sure that McNabb hasn't called one audible yet.

They're going to try and get Percy the ball more then any other Vikings receiver, but because McNabb can't get the ball down the field we're talking bubble screens ect. So you're going to be looking at something like 7 targets per game with that likely to increase if the Vikings ever find some offensive rhythm. Percy definitely has the YAC ability to take a few to the house, but it's gonna be an up and down season for fantasy owners....and just down for the true fans :bag: Just have a look at how a lot of them disappeared from this board. :lmao:

Any chance that Ponder helps this guy out? I still think they need to make him more of a focus in the offense, along with AD.

As soon as Ponder came in Harvin caught 2 passes for about 35 yards. Could be a small glimmer of hope, I was surprised by how decent Ponder looked out there.

... looks like some light at the end of this tunnel :pickle: ...

Ponder is going to breathe life into our man Harvin, I can just feel it. The QB switch can be viewed as nothing but a POSITIVE going forward. Excited to see a full gameplan implemented for Ponder/Harvin. :headbang:

Ponder has the anticipation that McNabb lacks and is necessary for this offense to work. More importantly for the purpose of this threads it's what's necessary to make the kind of routes Percy excels at successful. It'll still be a learning experience and McNabb isn't in the grave just yet, so temper your expectations.

Points all very well taken, for sure ... but the season was going nowhere fast with the Chunky Soup dude. We all knew this was coming, and it made holding Harvin worthwhile ... onward and upward.

I think I may buy low on Percy as his owner was trying to shop him around and didn't get squat for him. I think I can get him cheap and need a WR for my bye this week.

Anyone else have any thoughts on him moving forward or should we expect the same production as his start to the season?

Of course it's all speculation at this point but hte little I saw of Ponder he looked a lot more lively than McNabb has for about 5 years. He will check down a lot and seems accurate and post-haste on the short throws. In theory this could mean a good amount of work for the slot reciever: Harvin. Why McNabb didn't rely on Harvin more to collect 1st downs, I'm not exactly sure and probably can't put it all on McNabb.

IF Harvin gets the touches his stat line, imo, would increase dramatically. He will break one off sooner or later. I haven't given up on Harvin yet and also have him slotted in as a buy week filler this week.

Percy is quietly getting a ton of touches lately, and he's been pretty effective. I think the rook is very good for him, as Harvin always seems to be his first read. Couldn't come at a better time, too. I've been starting Bowe and Manningham over him all year, but those days are over. Down the stretch, you need guys you can count on to be a big part of the game plan.

Currently the #12WR in my league we get 0.5 pt per 10 return yards and 1pt per 10 rush/recv.

It would be nice to see him get a little bit more on Special teams though. They let him return 1 a week..............

Coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Percy Harvin will get more opportunities while Adrian Peterson (ankle) is sidelined.Harvin got 11 touches last week and also had a 35-yard touchdown run nullified by a penalty. "One of the things coming out of the bye, we wanted to come up with more ways to get Percy the football," Frazier said. "The fact that Adrian wasn't in the ball game created more opportunities for Percy." Look for Harvin to see plenty of touches this week as a true tailback and in the passing game, making him an excellent WR3 candidate. Harvin is the only playmaker the Vikings have left. Yeah if Maclin doesn't suit up I face the same dilemma. Harvin is a threat everytime he touches the ball, and he is one of the few playmakers or game changers on the team especially with AP out. But with that comes extra defensive attention. And I think they play ATL, and ATL DEF is no push over.

So Antonio Brown gets less DEF attention cause you have to account for Wallace, Miller, and Cothchery. But there are a lot of mouths to feed there and on top of that Big Ben has a broken thumb of some sort. That concerns me as well.

Don't be fooled by the number of "mouths to feed" in Pittsburgh. Brown's targets are staggering. He has more than Wallace on the season!

I don't have as many good options, but he'll be getting the start over Manningham and Crabtree for me. I'm really glad I decided to hold on to him when I considered selling low on him earlier in the year.

Why the dreaded "Questionable"? What's the dealio?
I don't believe he's been a full participant in practice since initially hurting his ribs, yet he plays every week. Start him with reasonable expectations.
I may be wrong, but I think he's actually been a full participant most of the time for the past few weeks. This is also the first time I recall him as Questionable recently.I think he'll play, but I will plan on watching it a little more closely than usual this week.

If his ribs are hurt again this has to effect how Minn will use him as a RB. The word was he was potentially in line for around 10-15 carries. Now who knows.

Before this news about the ribs he was a great start ahead of Antonio Brown types IMO, now not so much.

Been really frustrating to own this guy this year.

I can't speak to "Antonio Brown types" but I take issue with the fact that he was a great start over Antonio Brown. Even if Harvin was 100%, I'm still rolling with Brown. He seems to be Ben's first read on nearly everything except the plays designed for Wallace on the 9-routes.

10-15 touches is correct. He had a small bump last week in carries after AP went down and had a 35 yard TD run called back by penalty.

He has been the main look for Ponder and had finally been seeming to get over this rib problem that's been dogging him.

Love Brown as well but was looking forward to starting Harvin until this injury setback.

As long as he plays, I plan on starting him. I may go down with the ship on this one, but I think he could have a great day. If he doesnt, at least my defense (Atlanta) should be great.

Last time he was questionable w/the ribs, he pulled himself in the first quarter.

Sky's the limit with AP out, but ... man, Percy is a risky play when dinged up. Hope those who take the plunge today are rewarded ... I'm gonna pass.

OK, I'm not going to give away Dodds EARLY ranking for Percy this week, but let's just say it was a little higher than I would have thought.

What does everyone here think about Harvin this week? I know he's been hot since Peterson has been out, but I guess I'm concerned about Champ Bailey and how well Denver's defense is playing overall lately.

I'm not sure any CB can stay with Percy right now. He's so quick it's ridiculous.

I'm not terribly concerned about Champ Bailey, because a majority of what Harvin catches are quick RB style screen passes that can't really be defended that easily by a corner. Once he's in open space, I'll take my chances with Harvin.I don't think he should be ranked #1 for the week though.
