Peterson bump? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious what the consensus is. Particularly from homers. I keep hearing that AD will be receiving more 3rd down duties than in years past and coupled with Rice going down and Harvin's head hurting.... Perhaps I am reading too much in the Tea Leaves?

I have the exact opposite feeling. Less Rice and Harvin means less stretching of the field and a more concentrated effort to shut the run. A balanced offense is the best to run in as the defense can't play one dimensional. I also think that even if they want to give ADP 3rd down duties if he gets his QB blown up by missing pickups he won't get the opportunity many are expecting.

His best season came when they were one dimensional.

since when is 239 or 249 pts better than 291 pts?

I've been debating this myself, since I have the #2 pick. I am leaning toward the belief that getting more opportunities against 8 men in the box will just result in less YPC and more of a beating on each carry. I would rather Favre was throwing to someone like AJ to make some room at the line. The above concerns, combined with the mystery knee issue with MJD, has me almost convinced to go with Rice at 2. Rice's situation is the exact opposite of AP; the Ravens receiving corp has been vastly improved and I think that will actually help Rice, as teams will not be able to stack the box.

I am actually downgrading him slightly because of the lack of weapons. I don't like the camp Minnesota had this year and I think defenses will now be able to focus their attention more on Adp.

I am picking #3 and #4 in drafts tomorrow. I will feel lucky if ADP is there. All systems are go for ADP to have a fabulous year.

Yet you have McGahee who will most likely vuture the TDs. AP is going to be on the field nearly every play and will get the GL carries. In a PPR I would jump on Rice but in a non-PPR I just cant see myself taking Rice above AP. I am at the point where in a non-PPR I am considering taking Gore above Rice. Call me crazy but I think Gore is in for a hell of a year.

From talking to people and reading stuff here and other sites it seems that most people are bumping Peterson down due to the questions about the Vikings WRs.

Im going against the consensus. Favre will probably have to check down more and Chester Taylor and his 44 receptions from last year are gone. Reports I've read are that Gerhart is not ready for 3rd down duty. I think ADP is in store for 60 plus receptions this season. Easily.

And for all the talk about 8 man fronts and such, Minnesota still has a better passing game than the Titans. I have the #1 pick and Im gonna go with my man CJ2K but I will not be the least bit surprised if Peterson finishes as the best back in FF this year, and maybe by a comfortable margin.

I don't think it helps or hurts much tbh. The key to his success is the offensive line. Last year they were not very good in the run game and so far this preseason they haven't look great either. If they had a dominant OL they could run it even when the other team knew they were going to run. I don't that is the case right now.
