The league I have him in won't let me drop him. We only have 5 bench spots, and I wan't to pick up Jeremy Hill. I don't think Peterson plays again this year as of now. If he does, it won't be until November.

That's ridiculous. Just send out tons of trade offers, including for players you would cut. Ask for a kicker. Then you can get Hill. Hill is worth much more than Peterson IMO.

I see nothing wrong with locking Peterson. No other team should get an unfair advantage because some moron wants to take a moral stand (with no one to hear him).

I am a commissioner and to protect the integrity of the league, I would lock him as well and hold a blind bid for him. My league is an Auction league so there really wouldn't be an issue, but for leagues that aren't Auction, I would still use some kid of a blind bid auction for him.

I finally had the two owners who own Rice and AP, ask me if we could do something since it is certainly an odd situation. I commish a Salary Cap league and right now it is unfair for them to have to hold those guys hurting their team and throwing off the balance of the league itself. We don't have an IR, but what I'm going to do is let them drop them, lock them, and if/when they come back, those owners will get first crack at them at their current salary, they will have one week to make a decision, or they go back into the player pool.

Does this seem fair? How are any of you in a salary cap league handling it.

I understand this, but this is a different situation, if they were hurt it wouldn't even be an issue.

I understand this, but this is a different situation, if they were hurt it wouldn't even be an issue.

I guess the way I look at the situation is based on the players' availability. In both situations (suspension vs. serious injury), the return of the players is what's in question, so I don't see the difference.

It isn't fair in the least, and it IS giving those owners extra roster spots. That idea was proposed in my league for Peterson and shot down with that same argument which I agreed with. No owner deserves the right of first refusal. Of course, the Peterson owner disagreed. Either keep the player on your roster or release them. Peterson and Rice should be available all season long and if they come back, those with the FAAB dollars to acquire them can. That's part of the game.

terrible idea imo, you let them deal with it, don't give them special treatment just because these guys were good and got suspended.
