**Philadelphia 12-2 at Washington 9-5**(+3.5, 45.5) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

Washington is good. With Jalen this would have been 14 points or more win for the Eagles.
Maybe but Pickett did enough to win that game.

How so are you thinking the Philly's D let them down? Philly's D was on the fields alot more in the 2nd half against Washington than last week against Pittsburgh.

Pickett did a enough for the Eagles to win. I think the D did enough for the team to win. They forced 5 TO's and were +3. Daniels played a great game and after Hurts left; WAS D didn't need to respect the PHI passing game; forcing the PHI O to not play their game.

Two good teams; 1 made more of their opportunities.

I’m not disagreeing with you. I was simply saying that Pickett did enough to win the game. He can’t force Smith to make that catch.

Disagree with your middle sentence. The Smith drop was not his fault, yes. But the only significant drives they had with him were a long Barkley TD run and one that mostly consisted of two long PIs. Otherwise they didn’t move the ball with him much, and Washington could sell out to stop the run without paying for it much. This led to the defense being on the field too much, and we saw the effects of that in the fourth quarter.

That’s a good point. Very true.

I still dont understand cj getting kicked out. That was BS
"Gardner-Johnson intercepted Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels near the end of the first half on an overthrown pass in the middle of the field. He had one tackle before the Commanders and Eagles once again engaged in some post-play disagreements, and Gardner-Johnson drew another unsportsmanlike conduct flag for something he said. "He was taunting the players," referee Shawn Smith explained in the pool report with a member of the Pro Football Writers Association.

As he walked toward the tunnel with Eagles chief of security Dom DiSandro, Gardner-Johnson threw his gloves in frustration and flipped both middle fingers in the direction of the cheering Washington crowd."

People talk **** all the time but we know there are specific words you can't say. I wonder which one he said.

Still smells like BS to me

This isn’t Walter Payton we’re taking about here. I’d imagine he earned it

From the referee:

Question: Could you explain the ruling for the second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on C.J. Gardner-Johnson? What led to the call that ultimately got him ejected?

Smith: He's basically taunting the opponent on the second foul. He already had a first one earlier in the game that we had announced as the first towards disqualification. So, this became his second. He was taunting the players, so that's a disqualification by rule."

That still does not explain the why. Players taunt each other on every play.

I will always prefer live human referees. I believe they are an integral part of the game, as are the 11 players from each team on the field during any given play. All humans are fallible. I would just like the referees to be a little less fallible. I am not sure if that is at all possible.

As a fan I do realize that every team and its fans must accept the consequences of fallible referees. Sometimes calls go your way, sometimes not.

Players trash talk on every play
Taunting takes it to another level
According to NFL rules
Whatever he said was interpreted as taunting by the official

What happened to that defense?
:goodposting:

Once CJGJ got ejected, there were communication lapses on the backend when they had to use McCollum.

Eagles had a game plan that included Jalen Hurts running the ball. Hurts had 3 rushes for 41 yards before getting knocked out on the 11th play. Once he went out, WAS didn't have to respect Pickett running in the RPO game and just crashed on Barkley and loaded the box to slow him down. Pickett wasn't great in the passing game, but he did enough to win and coupled with the turnovers helped make the game winnable for the Eagles.

I feel like Barkley was set for a 200 yard day if Hurts didn't get hurt. They had no answer for Jalen which would have opened Saquon up for more huge gains.

@Cowboysfan8 Or, maybe he did not. Were you on the field at the time each foul supposedly occurred?
I was not. I was just going by this man’s earned reputation for running his mouth vs the idea that the officials had it in for him and the eagles and it’s a conspiracy to get them to lose.

Which do you think it was?
I also was not on the field. It does not matter what I think about it. Whether it was one of the two reasons that have been presented for the penalties or an altogether completely different reason. It is what it is, the game is over. Next week's Cowboys game has been rescheduled to be played at 1:00pm. Wanna go back-and-forth on our thoughts about that game instead? If so, start a thread and I'll participate.
