Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys ::Thanksgiving Showdown:: (1 Viewer)

Honestly no way to know how the game will go. Dallas seemed out of sync when the Giants ran no huddle. The Eagles run that all game and twice as fast. Dallas offense has a lot of ways to beat you though. Grinding it out with Murray seems like the most obvious. Should be a classic.

Yeah... seems obvious to say it, but it is one of those games where we have to minimize our mistakes and capitalize on theirs. Will be nice to see what Chip puts together in this short week. Anyone get hurt today (yesterday)?

Can't friggin wait for this game. Food, Beer, Football, not to mention Fantasy Football. Love Thanksgiving.

And then we get Packers/Patriots on Sunday and Chiefs/Broncos Sunday Night!!

To answer my own question, it looks like Acho hurt his groin, so will probably be out against Big 'D'. That worries me a lot. We'll have the rookie (Marcus Smith) as well as the poor man's Matthews in Defensive coverage. Although it looks like Romo might just pick apart our secondary, there's still a reason Eagles, Redskins and Giants fans all rejoiced when Romo was re-signed. He often tends to show up small in big games, and let's hope that is because we always show up big on 'D'.

We will need to pile up our offensive and special team numbers, and key on stopping Dez, Witten (and Beasley!) through the air, and Demarco on the ground. And although I know we can shut them down completely, let's make those one-on-one tackles when it counts (and not give up 68 yard gains on missed tackles). (edit - added:) A good pass rush and getting to Romo early and often will go a long way in making this happen.

This game (as well as the last one against Dallas), will go a long way in telling us if Sanchez can be a 'new man', and a little more about his future here. Anyone have his stats against Dallas lifetime (if he's played them much, that is)?

Here's hoping that the 'boys plan to have an Eagle be the bird they carve on Thanksgiving gets thwarted, and Dallas is left holding a turkey. Even better -- let's leave them grasping armfuls of air, and maybe a couple feathers.
And no complaining about a short week, because Dallas had a shorter one than we did.

I could see either team winning big. Philly could hit a few big plays early and force Dallas to scrap the run and the Cowboys would be in trouble. I could see Dallas running the ball effectively and controlling possession to get ahead. Both teams are capable of turning the ball over and giving the other team the advantage. This is where the game will be decided IMO. It's cliche but both teams are probably good enough to win if they come out ahead in the turnover department. I have no idea on this one.

2 years removed from Butt Fumble heard round the world on Thanksgiving, Sanchez has a chance to write a new chapter. Can he avoid the posterior of his linemen and lead the Eagles to victory, or will the gravitational pull be too much to resist.

Which begs the question: just how big are the butts of the Eagles O-lineman?

Most exciting Thanksgiving game in years for us Cowboy fans.

I think the obvious things to watch in this game are:

1) How does Dallas handle the no huddle. We have struggled against it this year already. We love to rotate players a lot too.

2) Eagles special teams advantage. We cannot give with any ST splash plays.

3) Dallas O-line vs. Eagles D-line. I think Dallas has a HUGE advantage here. Eagles better put their big boy pads on.

4) Rest. Eagles travel to Dallas on a short week.

5) Turnovers. Both QB's have some history of untimely giveaways.

I expect a black and blue NFC East fight. I really see a split in the series this year and I am giving round 1 to Dallas 27-20 assuming Dallas limits ST's and giveaways. Murray helps Dallas dominate TOP and gas the Eagles defense.

These two matchups mean so much. If one team wins both, they have essentially won the division. The rest of the games are so similar. Dallas has Chi, Indy, Wash. Eagles have Sea, Wash, NYG. Two should wins and one tough one each.

If a team could win both, they win the division.

I think it really boils down to Romo being better then Sanchez. If we can control the run, which we can do despite what the numbers say , then I see a W.

I think this presumes that Romo IS better than Sanchez. :boxing:

Seriously, though. I think we have been better against the run than against the pass, so I wouldn't go pencilling in high rushing number just yet. (at least, not necessarily for Dallas)

All the injuries, and lack of Defense on the Eagles part seems to point to a Dallas advantage, plus homefield. And this is exactly why I like the Eagles for this game. We usually do the opposite and overcome those big obstacles like they were not there. At least this year, anyway. (thank you, Chip)

Man o Man what a showdown we have on Turkey day. It could not have worked out more perfectly. Family, Food, Beer and Eagles vs. Cowboys for the division lead and a winning record for the first time in years. I can't wait for this game.

48-47 Cowboys
Highly possible.

Romo's career stats on Thanksgiving Day:

18 TD (vs 6 INT)

6-1 Win-Loss

107.27 QB Rating
Romo's Thanksgiving day Opponents:

4-12 TB

4-12 NYJ

4-12 Sea

5-11 Oak

6-10 Mia

10-6 Was (Loss)

4-12 Oak

Looks like Romo has feasted on a lot of Thanksgiving Turkeys.
I distinctly remember 1 of those years him getting me like 5 td's on T-Day...he does play well on Turkey Day

Bernie Logan D lineman for the Eagles was quoted (His thoughts on the Cowboys O-line) as saying "They're OK,I don't see what's so great about them"

I hope Callahan posts this in all 5 of their lockers.

Thank you Bernie!!!

I'm really interested to see how this plays out. Outside of last night the only time I saw Dallas was against Washington and the Dallas OL looked pretty bad, especially when Washington brought an extra man. Billy Davis likes to blitz and we're 2nd in the NFL in sacks. We've also been fairly decent against RB's as well I believe Gore is the only one to go over 100 against us this season.

I think you mean Bennie Logan. And if your team needs quotes to get up for THIS game, then you've already lost son.

Sanchez worries me. I just have the feeling he'll have a turnover at the most inopportune time. I think Chip has been holding back some of his offensive for this week. The Eagles have been pretty vanilla this year. I think we'll see some of his crazy formations. I can't even make a prediction on this game. Should be close and could go either way.

Served....haha.

@973espn: "Cowboys fans are still cautious, fans in Dallas believe Philadelphia is a better team." - @GreatDonovan tells us from The Ticket in Dallas.

Eagles 34, Cowboys 20

No real need to watch the game now that I told you the outcome. Enjoy your turkey

"I hear one of Chip's signs for the defense this game will be a picture of Jessica Simpson."

:lmao: From one of the comments sections at philly.com. Please please please let this be true.

Bennie...Bernie whatever. Haven't heard of the guy, and he wants to have a go at our OLine. Looking forward to watching that battle.

Aside from fantasy football, I have no rooting interest here. I just hope this ends up being a wild, entertaining game, not some snooze fest with little action.

We do?
:goodposting: I thought Foles was a joke of a QB. I'm even happier to play against the buttfumbler.

Of course I was happy to play Colt McCoy too so....
The guy who tweeted that has their sportstalk radio show in Dallas. Just going off to what he said. Are either of your from Dallas? How's his show?

All the pressure is on Dallas.....home game against a backup QB. Would be nice to steal it but considering the circumstances I don't think it's one we are supposed to win.

I dont know that I agree. The line (the last time I checked) was Dallas -3....That's an Eagles line

It would be nice to put this one in the bank as insurance, but really an Eagles' loss doesn't kill them as long as they win at home against the Seahawks and then Dallas. Finish up with wins on the road at Washington & NYG and still win the division. A win this week just gives them some breathing room.
