Phillip Seymour Hoffman (1 Viewer)

Its a hoax
Do you actually get off posting crap like this?
I actually thought it was at first. There were conflicting news reports
Link to the conflicting reports. Idiots on the internet claiming its a hoax don't count.

So a story from last month, that was updated today, is your source?
The story wasn't "updated" today. It's a hoax website.

man, this sucks.

he was one of the best at his craft and always interesting to watch in any role he played.

Really sad. I saw a couple minutes of that movie recently where he played a pedophile priest. Really freaky how good of a job he did. I could only watch a few minutes. He was a phenomenal actor.

It was at the top of the search. I dont care enough about a celebrity threat to scrutinize

Lets scrutinize your obsession with me instead
Ah yes, the old "you have an obsession/must be a stalker" deflection defense.

Great actor. RIP.

He first really drew my eye as an actor in "Happiness." Might have to throw that one or Capote on before the SB.

I just saw him in Hunger Games 2 last night. I guess they are going to have to find someone else to play the game maker for the 3rd one now.

Just heard about this from a friend, haven't been on line at all today…I'm shocked. Not really the news I want to hear before watching a Super Bowl but an Oscar winner dying of an apparent heroine overdose, I'm almost speechless.

I understand the musician who is in a band and things get crazy, life on the road, etc…but an actor who has had a spectacular career and by far is extremely well liked by those that follow the character actors.

I'm really stunned, huge fan of his work and films, always liked that little extra he brought to many rolls. His roll of the dice of speech in Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, obviously Capote and so many other great films. I haven't felt this bad about an actor passing since Heath Ledger.

Makes me sick, surely he had a few more Oscar type performances in his future. What a tragedy, what a loss, what a shame.

I'm mad at you PSH, maybe in a few days I can say RIP but for today I'm angry and hurt.

I think I have hated every character that he has ever played, which speaks to his acting ability. Ever since I saw him for the first time in Scent of a Woman, his characters have always gotten under my skin.

I can't think of another actor past or present that I felt that passionate about. That, to me personally, speaks volumes about his acting ability.

RIP.

Owning Mahowny would be my favorite of all his films, great character study. You could see Capote as a natural progression thru some of his early work.

He was filming Hunger Games, part 1 in the can and part 2 of this Mockingjay was filming.

My favorite PSH moment is the dialog on the bench in State and Main with William Macy. "But how do I...how do I do a film called
"The Old Mill," when I don't have an old
mill?"

Just saw he had 3 kids. Horrible knowing 3 young kids just lost their dad to something as stupid as heroine.

Same building Ledger stayed at?
Heath Ledger lived in Boerum Hill (Brooklyn) for years before moving to a Broome Street loft in Soho.

PSH's Bethune Street loft is about 1.5 miles northwest, in the West Village. I actually walk down that block every weekday after picking up my daughter.

I think this is what brought me around to appreciate his work. He was so good that I actually made it a reflection on him. I'm starting to come around on Kevin Spacey for the same reason.

Sad.

I haven't seen a ton of films where he was the lead actor, but I remember him in great supporting roles in The Big Lebowski, Twister, Scent of a Woman, and Boogie Nights.

R.I.P.
Lester Bangs in Almost Famous is another.
The only true currency in this bankrupt world is what we share with someone else when we're uncool.
I bet you're really popular at school.

They hate me.

Ah, don't worry. You'll pass them again on their long trip back to the middle.
