There is an epidemic of stupid in sports talk radio going around, and I cannot be silent any longer.

Seemingly every mouth-breather who gets on the air starts off by saying "Thanks for taking my call!" :wall:

It's a GD RADIO TALK SHOW. They want/need your calls!!! It's kinda like, you know, what they do.

When you drop off your laundry at the dry cleaners, do you say "Thanks for taking my clothes!"....?

WTH would you listen to sports radio?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm tired of being called a "perverted creep." "Lecherous scumbag" isn't much better. Am I right? Guys?

Just dropped in to register my disdain for "rom-coms." Because I'm in a disdainful mood today.

I'll probably get blowed up real good later by somebody a lot smarter than me. Which casts a wide net.

Hashtag, its a damn pound sign for one thing, and now i hear people literally saying it out loud when something happens. A lady tripped coming out of the grocery store and i heard some kid say 'hashtag walkfail" Wanted to grab him by the collar and shake the crap out of him

if you’re going to be mad at people calling it a hashtag, you should be just as mad at people calling it a pound sign. WTF. That’s not a pound sign. I can't think of a single time anyone used it to represent a pound.

Keep it up and I'll # you in the face.

"...and it's not close".

Used as a tagline to express the extremity of an opinion. Seen around the trade topics.

Ex.

Jimmy Graham or Gronk? Graham and it's not close.

You heard a lot of people saying "pound sign" lately? Yea, didn't think so.

I hear it anytime I dial into a conference call.

That's because on the phone, it is called the pound key (not pound sign). Pretty much standard usage in the US. When's the last time you heard a pre-recorded message say "Enter the last four digits of your account, then press the pound sign" or "number key"?

What sign is on the pound key?

That is just about the worst argument ever made in the history of arguments.

I suppose it would be... if I were making any argument. He said he heard it all the time on conference calls. You do understand those take place on phones right? So it makes sense he would hear it a lot during conference calls. That's quite a bit different than someone going down the street and saying, out loud, "pound sign walkfail."

After being in board prep meetings hearing that "we don't have to get into the sausage making" and "the budget number is peanut buttered across XYZ" I'd have to add these to the list.

TXBuckeye - you are better than this. You aren't serious are you?

- you want to argue the semantics of whether your disagreement is not a point of argument/disagreement?

- you really want to offer up some weak comeback on the basis of saying its a "pound key" rather than a pound sign on the phone key?

Whatever dude. I'm not going to argue a point I never made. So, if it makes you feel better, you win the "argument/disagreement." Congrats.
