Phrases/terms that need to be retired immediately (2 Viewers)

any and all replacements for swear words that aren't actual words in the local language

no more "#######" or "freakin" or "farking"

either say #### or find another actual word to use

no more "b-word" or "c-word"

just say it

while i'm at it, let's also do away with people making up new nicknames for established actors/athletes/politicians/etc.

if we're talking 80s Lakers v Celtics rivalry and you drop a "those teams really saved the NBA in the 80s. especially when the Lakers drafted syphillis mcaids... i call him syphillis mcaids instead of Magic because it's funnier"

no. it's not. it's not funny at all #$!@%! and nobody understands what in the hell you're talking about.

at least in that instance there's some context to work off of and figure out what the person means.

it's worse when people create nicknames out of whole cloth and then asks questions like "did you see Booby McExploderson go off last night??!?!?"

is that supposed to be the nickname of the coach who lost his mind? the president? the player who hit 4 homers? the golfer that melted down at a press conference? what are we talking about here?

and when the response is "i have no idea what you're talking about" the follow up is " :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:  didn't you see dat!?? dat big dumb eff-head from da Royals dat went off last night.. what's da guy's name.. da coach.. i just call him Booby McExploderson because dat one time in da 80s he flipped out on an ump :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:   that's a great nickname, eh?! huh!? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: what an f-word that guy is   :lmao: :lmao:   "

Am I to suspect this is coming from that guy in your office?

Not a phrase or a term but likely belongs here... but upspeak and vocal fry drive me insane.

In case you need info:

Vocal Fry

Upspeak

I've been at a new job for just over a month and the chick that sits next to me has both in the worst of ways.  It's insane.

Daughter had that piece of #### show "Downward Dog" (a show about a talking dog) on and the doosh doing the voice has it.  I nearly punched the TV.

Anteaternintendo nearly kilt me and i had forgotten about the many laughs and great joy it brought to my life

virtue signaling

how do these phrases catch on and take off?
I think it's pretty clear how that took off. Some blogger used it to dismiss a POV they didn't care for. Then it became an easy 2 word response anyone could use to dismiss opinions that they disagree with.

not sure why this bothers me, but moms on Facebook referring to themselves as "mommas"  E.g.: "this is one proud momma"
