I highly doubts hes in anyones WW in dynasty... its like Bradshaw, hes not doing anything right now but no one will drop him because you never know when his shot his coming... and when it comes you know its could be good.I didn't know Steck got injuried, explains the lack of touches and the increase PT had. If Steck is done, Deuce could be suspended in Dec... and Reggie may not be 100% for the rest of the season so Thomas has a nice chance to build up some production.P.Thomas might be a nice late season sleeper pick going forward. With Duece's impending suspension and A.Stecker's injury (not sure to what extent he is hurt) combined with the fact that Reggie Bush is far from 100%. Thomas could be a nice sleeper.Any thoughts?
From what I understand Stecker has an hamstring injury. If Deuce is out for an extended period of time and Bush isn't 100% Thomas is a shark play at this point.KellysHeroes said:I highly doubts hes in anyones WW in dynasty... its like Bradshaw, hes not doing anything right now but no one will drop him because you never know when his shot his coming... and when it comes you know its could be good.I didn't know Steck got injuried, explains the lack of touches and the increase PT had. Big fan of Pierre's here, but Bush is due back soon, and locally it's being reported Deuce's suspension is not so near as originally speculated. But as a Saints fan if they decided to start giving Pierre 20 touches a game I'd be pretty happy.Thumper said:P.Thomas might be a nice late season sleeper pick going forward. How many times did the Saints run the ball against Atlanta? Thats right they dont run plus Reggie Bush will be back in week 11Thumper said:P.Thomas might be a nice late season sleeper pick going forward. Bush's return won't really hurt Thomas. It's what's going to happen to Duece that will make or break Thomas's value. How many times did the Saints run the ball against Atlanta? Duece had a pretty nice day today for the Saints. It seems they are getting him ready for when Duece is suspended. With Bush still not 100% Thomas is a real shark play.If he is still on your ww and you have room on your roster I say take a chance now before everyone figures this out.bump for any new opinions or news about Deuce's pending timeout.Thomas is sitting on my WW and I'm wondering if there's any value w/ Bush coming back.
Next weekPT looks like he has a nice matchup next week against the PackersIs this the week when the suspensions are supposed to be handed out? When is Bush expected back?
If denied, and if the decsision is 10-14 days after, the players would start the suspensions either week 13, or possibly week 14.The NFL will conduct hearings Monday and Tuesday for the bulk of eight pending cases of players who tested for banned supplements under the league's steroid and performance-enhancement policy, according to sources.
Most of those players face an uphill battle with four-game suspensions looming that could affect the league's divisional races.
Those cases include Minnesota Vikings Pro Bowl defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams; the New Orleans Saints' Deuce McAllister, Will Smith and Charles Grant; and the Atlanta Falcons' Grady Jackson.
If they are denied their appeal, the players will be suspended for four games. After their hearings, both sides will file briefs and a decision is expected within the next 10 to 14 days.
What are the odds that they rush this through to make sure these suspensions aren't starting later than week 14? If they started any later, it could have a huge impact on the playoffs.Appeals to be Heard Today ?

I don't think the suspension will affect Thomas at all. I think the Saints coaching staff realizes that he is a better player than Deuce at this point in their careers, as evidenced by Deuce's benching in the second half last week and Thomas' 140 or so total yards.I wouldn't get too excited on picking up Pierre Thomas. From ProFootballtalk:
A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that the appeal hearing arising from the four-game suspensions of Saints running back Deuce McAllister and defensive ends Charles Grant and Will Smith lasted until midnight on Tuesday. And, based on a statement released by lawyer David Cornwell, the marathon session apparently contained some fireworks....
...Cornwell contends that Dr. John Lombardo, the administrator of the NFL’s policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances, testified during the hearing that he learned in late 2006 of the presence of Bumetanide in StarCaps. Lombardo, per Cornwell, did not share this information with NFL players, because Lombardo feared that other players testing positive for Bumetanide would claim that they were taking StarCaps, even if they weren’t.
Says Cornwell: “Dr. Lombardo’s failure to disclose what he knew about StarCaps may have exposed NFL players to the significant health risks associated with the unintentional ingestion of diuretics. If Dr. Lombardo had notified NFL players that StarCaps contained bumetanide, Will, Deuce and Charles would have never used the product to lose weight.”
Assuming that Cornwell’s characterization of the testimony is accurate, the Saints players apparently have turned the tables on Lombardo, making it very difficult for the league to suspend these players, or any other players who are facing suspensions for taking StarCaps, including Vikings defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams.
That being said, I picked up Thomas and dropped BJGE. My starters are Gore/FWP. For me it's a low risk/high reward gamble. I also noticed the Saints picked up Mike Bell and a FB. Perhaps the meeting didn't go so well?

Stecker done for the season.Bush fragile and still hurtDuece having his knee drained. All add up to Thomas being a major player at playoff time. The Saints placed tailback Aaron Stecker on injured reserve Tuesday after he aggravated his lingering hamsting injury in Sunday's 30-20 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. They replaced him with free agent tailback Mike Bell, a 6-foot, 225-pounder who spent the past two seasons with the Denver Broncos. They also signed free agent fullback Darian Barnes (6-2, 240), a seventh-year veteran who was with Detroit and Buffalo earlier in the year.Stecker's injury was expected to need four to six weeks to heal, according to his agent Ronald Slavin. With only six weeks remaining in the season, the Saints needed the roster spot.Stecker, 33, is a free agent after this season after he signed a one-year deal to remain in New Orleans this past spring. The valuable utility man has been with the Saints for five years after spending his first four seasons in Tampa Bay.Bell, 25, had a breakout rookie season with the Broncos in 2006 after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona. But he played only sparingly last year and did not catch on with a team this season after a brief cameo with the Houston Texans in training camp. Bell ran for 677 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie and just three yards on six attempts last year. His agent Steven Feldman confirmed the signing.Barnes, 28, has bounced around with eight different NFL teams since he originally signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton in 2002. His most extensive playing time came in Dallas in 2004, when he scored his only career touchdown. The other player released from the Saints' active roster has not yet been announced.
I don't want to say I told you so, but thus far a case could be made for P.Thomas being the fantasy football playoff MVP.P.Thomas might be a nice late season sleeper pick going forward. With Duece's impending suspension and A.Stecker's injury (not sure to what extent he is hurt) combined with the fact that Reggie Bush is far from 100%. Thomas could be a nice sleeper.Any thoughts?

Good call Thumper. (A lot of times we don't give credit where credit is due here.) I have him in my main local league and in WCOFF. I liked him before the season started, then lost some faith in him, and then got back on the bandwagon just in time... Using him as my flex in both leagues and he's outscoring my #1 in both...I don't want to say I told you so, but thus far a case could be made for P.Thomas being the fantasy football playoff MVP.P.Thomas might be a nice late season sleeper pick going forward. I had him late last year and early again this year. I never lost faith in him but I had to drop him (tight roster limits) because Payton did for some bizarre reason. That didn't make any sense to me because watching the Saints, I kept coming away with the stronger belief that of all their RBs Thomas was the most complete one. Bush still isn't a "running back" really (and I like him for what it's worth) and it was obvious to everyone except Payton and the diehard Saints fans that Deuce was finished. Yet Thomas languished on the bench. Once the news hit about Deuce's suspension I grabbed Thomas again because I figured Payton would have to play him then. And whenever Thomas plays, he tends to produce and he often produces at a strong level. So my hope was that he would provide a major shot in the arm for the stretch run, and he has. I was watching NFL.com online before the game last night and one of the analysts was relaying a conversation he had with the Illinois head coach. He was asking about Rashard Mendenhall prior to last year's draft wondering why Mendenhall didn't get more carries in college. The coach replied - Pierre Thomas. Mendenhall didn't earn more carries because Thomas was outperforming him. He said Thomas is just a good football player and people were going to figure that out at some point.I think a lot of people are figuring it out now.Good call Thumper. Its about time people are figuring it out. He is just a flat out football player. I went to the same high school as him, and my brother who was a few years younger than me played on the same team as him. He carried them to the semifinals where they ended up losing a close game, but he did everything he could do. They were actually up 14-0 at half, and Pierre had both of their TDs...The one TD was crazy though...he didnt play defense all year, but there was like 10 seconds left and the other team had the ball a little past midfield so they were going to throw like a hail marry. Our coach put Pierre in and told him to just go stand in the end zone and jump and knock the ball down...well he didnt knock the ball down...he picked it off, zig zagged back and forth, and scored a touchdown with no time on the clock....i think this was his first and only play on defense all year. It was like everyone was in slow motion and he was running cirlces around them....it also helps that he is a great guy...very down to earth..I had him late last year and early again this year. Trade one of them, but Thomas may actually have less competition then Stewart for carries as De Williams has exploded. Not sure if this is the right time or place to ask (I have until August to make the decision) But who is the better keeper for 2009 Thomas or J. Stewart? Oh and I am really looking forward to Thomas against the Lions next week
Bush sprained his knee last night. No idea how serious or if it will keep him out, but if it does keep him out, Pierre with a few extra day's rest against the Lions could win many'a'fantasy-title for peeps. Not sure if this is the right time or place to ask (I have until August to make the decision) But who is the better keeper for 2009 Thomas or J.
