What do you make of Pittsburgh's run defense? Seems up and down this season.

Do we fear it matchup wise?

I'm wary of it but I'm not in fear of it as much. I think its living off its past reputation to a degree. If Polamalu is out then its full speed ahead.

Much of their problems have been personnel on the defensive line. DT Casey Hampton wasn't playing that well before he got hurt and then backup Chris Hoke played great the past 2 weeks. Hoke left last week's game with a stinger and it is not clear if he'll play this week. Officially he is listed as questionable. If he can't go then Steve McLendon will get the start. McLendon is a considerable downgrade from Hampton & Hoke IMO.On the plus side DE Brett Keisel has been back a couple weeks and the run defense improved immediately. Also the run defense appears to be much better when Ziggy Hood starts in place of Aaron Smith. Barring injuries I expect the Steelers run defense to be pretty good, though not as dominant as last season, the rest of the way.
