Plax's Hammy is Worse than thought. (1 Viewer)

Burress may have made hamstring injury worse

Plaxico Burress knew his hamstring wasn't 100% when he decided to try to play Sunday in Arizona, and Tom Coughlin knew it, too. They were just hoping he'd be able to fight through the injury without making it worse. Unfortunately for the New York Giants, that's what might have happened.

The Giants (10-1) had their fingers crossed Monday afternoon when they sent their big receiver for an MRI on his injured right hamstring, one day after he made a three-play cameo in the 37-29 win over the Cardinals. Burress pulled himself from the game after running 50 yards downfield for what turned out to be an incompletion.

The news that he no longer could run full speed wasn't what Coughlin was expecting to hear.

"It was the wrong kind of surprise," Coughlin said Monday. "That was the one thing I was hoping against hope was not going to happen. He's been so resilient and so tough under any circumstances. When you ask Plaxico, he's going to play if he can play. He certainly went out and tried it. But he just felt like he couldn't stand on it. He just couldn't get that extra little bit that he needed. And he couldn't come back. That was something that I certainly did not want to see happen."

Hixon could be a great pickup for people looking for a WR3.

That's a really misleading thread title and article: "may have made injury worse"... "that's what might have happened"... The Coughlin quote is taken completely out of context. He also said in the same interview he didn't think the attempt to play made the injury worse.

Regardless, the results of the MRI have not been released. So there's no new information there, it's just pure speculation.

Have to grab Ginn there with Camarillo done for the season, the guys is going to emerge as the easy #1 choice of Pennington in a pass heavy offense.
