Agree, but I could do without the deep-voice, hey-ladies shtick.I love listening to Pat and Tim. Those guys are football guys. They dumb it down for ya without making you feel like you're an idiot. Good approach by those two...
I used to listen to the sports radio stations in Raleigh, and I know what you are talking about. It would get really bad.As for the NFL Network on Sirius/XM, I refuse to listen to it anymore. Every show seems to be full of callers who just go on and on about their team and the hosts allow them to do so. I have found myself screaming "JUST ASK THE QUESTION!!" multiple times.I hate Adam Schein though, and it's almost entirely because of his terrible radio voice. It's obnoxious.I believe I am in the minority, but I actually like the guy. He adds as much value as any of the other guys who did not play the sport, and he gets people fired up to call in. Sure it can be over-the-top, but he is so consistent with it, you really can't call it an "act". I also like that he puts callers in their place. I grew up on 660 FAN in NY and am used to the "quick hook" when callers who really do not know what they are doing call in. Moved to Raleigh about 11 years ago and definitely noticed they were more tolerant with novices. On the NFL network...it can get ridiculous. Sure, I understand there will be callers who do not get to their point quick enough and it does not have to get all Jim Rome about having "your take" and blitzing through some points. On the flipside, it SHOULD NOT be about "Why does Eli Manning look so discouraged all the time" or that "Minnesota always has a good defense because it is in their tradition"...that kind of talk is just ignorance, and Schein is one of the few people who calls callers out on that type of crap. If you are going to sit on the phone on hold for an hour to state that "Dallas should have 9-10 yards a carry with those RBs and run the ball 90% of the time" (which is actually a call I heard), just hang up and save yourself the time. It dumbs down the program and at least one guy is willing to nix it...and in short, that is why I like Adam Schein...BTW did you know IT IS A FOOTBALL FRIDAY, MILLS!?!?!?!

Here's the thing: all his bosses care about is listeners per 15m cause that's what they sell to advertisers. The guys on my local, Jox94.5, are literally the worst I have ever heard. Biggest bunch of clueless, obnoxious, and worst of all self-righteous losers I have ever heard. Literally, ever. One guy called up and called Favre a drama queen and would have thought he called Mother Teresa a whore. They jumped all over this guy and could not wait to name drop that they had actually "spoken" to Favre and met him at some golf tournament. They not only represent the worst in sports broadcasting with rampant homerism, they pretty much represent the worst in humanity (well, civilized humanity). But I have absolutely no choice who to listen to because they are the only sports show in town. So they get to count me, who absolutely #######g hates every single one of them and would consider them getting replaced by standard ESPN radio a HUGE blessing even if the replacement never once mentioned a team within 100 miles of me.Same thing goes for Schein: he doesn't get listeners, the NFL does, just like losers on the Roundtable and morning drive don't have fans, football does. Fans of SEC/NFL simply have to tolerate these idiots/losers and the endless, incessant inane crap they continue to regurgitate, in order to get news about what they do like. So, because they are not so intolerable to cause sports fans to stop listening to sports radio completely, they not only get to keep their jobs but tout their ratings, which they have zero positive effect on, as proof of how great they are to their bosses. My curiosity lies in the percentage of people that (at a minimum) dislike Schein. Let's face it, he has a kick ### job. How does he keep his job with 80% of the viewers disliking his antics and voice? It is also interesting that there are no neutral votes. Looks like he is very polarizing, you love him or hate him....
For the last four years I have been contempleting calling in, specifically because my first name is "Chris".I believe I am in the minority, but I actually like the guy. He gets you jacked up for football.
I love'em on Sirius, especially Sunday mornings. Haven't seen him on tv.He's flat out unwatchable on Fox. He tones it down and isn't bad on Sirius NFL Radio.
Heads up: do not click on the link in post #1. It will ruin a good thing for you.I love'em on Sirius, especially Sunday mornings. Haven't seen him on tv.He's flat out unwatchable on Fox. He tones it down and isn't bad on Sirius NFL Radio.
Getting bunches of people to hate you is just as much as skill (and just as marketable) and getting bunches of people to like you. In talk radio think of all the people with big audiences very few have nuetral public reactions: Rush, Dr. Laura, Rome, etc. are all love/hate people and many people listen to them to get pissed as crazy as that sounds. My curiosity lies in the percentage of people that (at a minimum) dislike Schein. Let's face it, he has a kick ### job. How does he keep his job with 80% of the viewers disliking his antics and voice? It is also interesting that there are no neutral votes. ????he is terrible. i mean terrible. i won't listen to sirius nfl when he is on. he is that bad. his fake voice, his not really knowing anything. He tones it down and isn't bad on Sirius NFL Radio.
holy jesus christ --- that's him toned down???re: local radiolocal sportstalk in chicago has got to be as obnoxious and painful to listen to as anywhere else in the country, so I don't listen to it --- and yes, they have an espn affiliate here.I'll admit there was a short time that I put up with it just because it was there, but I can only take so much.get sirius and stop punishing yourself. He's flat out unwatchable on Fox. He tones it down and isn't bad on Sirius NFL Radio.
Tim and Pat are the best thing going on in radio. Actually in any media right now. But, Adam Schein is terrible. Just awful. Not redeemable in any way shape or form.I've had Sirius NFL radio since day 1. Hated him at first. Then he started to grow on me. Back to not liking him.
"Let's go to our GOOD FRIEND Tony in Michigan!"
"Hey guys.... first-time caller."
x100.
And when guys try to be cordial and say "Hey Adam, what's up?", he shoots back with a testy "EVERYTHING... BRING IT."
It would kill the guy to say "Not too much, how are you?" Sort of like how the class acts Tim and Pat do it.
Having gone to hebrew school with him I can say that he is not fake. That is the way he has been since we were 11 years old. I guess I am bias but I dont hate him. I will listen to the Blitz but I have never seen him on TV. add me as one of the people who heard him at 2:00 in the morning on the fan.Im happy for him that he can make a living doing thishate him. horrible. bad opinions. no substance. fake. hate him. sounds annoying. hate him.
Understandable you'd be colored by childhood affection. But, he is unlistenable. He needs to go back to 2 am work.Having gone to hebrew school with him I can say that he is not fake. The best thing to me about Moving the Chains, by far, is their weekly segment with former NFL coach/scout Chris Mattura. I learn so much listening to him, not to mention he is absolutely hilarious with that thick N.Y. accent.Tim and Pat are the best thing going on in radio. Actually in any media right now.I've had Sirius NFL radio since day 1. Hated him at first. Then he started to grow on me. Back to not liking him.

Most of it is because of their crazy-good chemistry. I like it when they make each other laugh uncontrollably. Not a fan of the in-season Friday shows when that D-nozzle Jason Whatshisname sits in for Tim.Tim and Pat are the best thing going on in radio. Actually in any media right now.Every sport should have a show like theirs for real fans. They are so far above every other football talk show its not even fair.
Which is the exact reason he has a job doing this.......My curiosity lies in the percentage of people that (at a minimum) dislike Schein. Let's face it, he has a kick ### job. Maybe. I am betting he has become more annoying over the years. They are the best thing on radio. Sometimes sit in my car in driveway to hear the rest of a segment.Every sport should have a show like theirs for real fans. They are so far above every other football talk show its not even fair.

I'd like to 10th this, or whatever we're up to.they're like the invention that makes you wonder why nobody thought of doing it 50 yrs ago.Tim and Pat are the best thing going on in radio. And I repeat: "BTW did you know IT IS A FOOTBALL FRIDAY, MILLS!?!?!?!"OH YEEEEESSSSS IT ISSSSSS!I like Schein, but I voted neutral as I didn't care for the voting options. He's not "must have" (that's Pat & Tim as many have stated) and he is over the top - but I agree with Sweet Love: he is consistent in how he presents himself at least on Sirius. I am not a Fox guy - pre or in game and with the NFL Ticket I don't waste any time watching any halftimes, so I don't know where or how Adam slots in at Fox. At the same time he is not at all a "Level-10 Dou che" where I'm left questioning how he got the job(s) he has.Sure the guy caught a break getting a sweet gig on Sirius NFL Radio - no question, but I think for a non-player he knows his stuff and is a good host for a radio program. Some have knocked him for a lack of substance and I can buy that but I'm not really sure substance is why he was hired in the first place. I consider him more of a facilitator to work the guys who actually have experience, insight or SUBSTANCE if you will, into the equation and keep the show flowing, and I think Schein does a very god job with that.I liked Schein the most when he was paired with Riggins when the show started. I did also enjoy when he worked with Wilcotts - who is good and deserved his own gig. I also like when he works with Miller. I am lukewarm on Gannon. I think he brings good insight to the table; I'm just not as excited about that pairing as previous ones mentioned.I believe I am in the minority, but I actually like the guy. He adds as much value as any of the other guys who did not play the sport, and he gets people fired up to call in. Too bad, you're missing out. He is only one of the most well-respected talent evaluators in the game, with over 50 years of experience that he brings to the table. Oh well, style over substance for some, I guess.Angus Lok said:Really don't like him, but I can listen to him in small batches. I agree with this. I didn't like Gil at 1st, but then started listening to what he has to say and his memory is freakish. He knows everything about every prospect- like even that Roy Williams' mom worked at Wal Mart and some other non sense like that. His football knowledge is certainly amazing. I think what turns most people off is when he finishes every sentence with "is what it amounts to".....I agree with this.
