Pokemon Go (1 Viewer)

Wish I could put a sign on my 2 pokemon in gyms that says don't feed me any berries. I don't feed my own pokemon in gyms, but I have 2 that have been in gyms for a couple of days without running out of motivation. Sucks that I can't collect any coins from those 2, have to hope that at some point another team finally decides to take down those gyms.
I really don't think it is going to matter. It's first in-first out so when your guy is next on the list then whoever battles next is going to take him down. What you need is a sign saying 'don't feed the other ones berries.'  If I see a gym of 6 fully motivated, I'm less likely to take it down than if I see one with 6 about empty. Still, beating all of them 3 times is not as much a big deal. I think if people go back to old ways of leaving opposing gyms alone, we will see the same lack of activity, which doesn't help anyone.

on the raids....do the other players have to be there when you fight?  Or can you start, do your damage then someone else come finish them off 30 minutes later?

I've only done 2 raids.  First was a 28k Venusaur and I had no chance, but it was just me.  Yesterday I went to one and 2 other players showed up and we took down a 12k weezing in 2 minutes.
Yup. So if you see another grown man awkardly milling about....he's not going to flash you or nothing, he's one of the other players.

I was on vacation in Key Largo, FL when the new gyms started.  In Key Largo, the gyms do not turn over much.

Here are my observations so far:

1.  Since you only get coins when you pokemon leave the gym, there is no incentive to feed them berries.  The only reason to feed them berries is when you already hit your cap on coins and want them to leave the next day.

2.   My wife put a high level pokemon in to gym and I put a Magikarp 12.  No one fed them berries. They both ran out of motivation around the same time. The time apparently does not vary between species and combat power.

3.  It looks pretty easy to drive around and find open spots in gyms.

4.  It is also pretty easy to take down existing gyms.  If the other teams pokemon have been in the gym over 8 1/3 hours, you are actually doing them a favor by battling them and knocking them out.

5.  So the updated system penalizes established players who sat in gyms for months at a time.  The 50 coin per day cap also penalizes them.  But new players can stay in gyms much longer and collect more coins.  This is especially true if they play with a more experienced player.  Two of my daughter started recently, so they are benefitting from it.

Took down a 13000CP Muk by myself in a raid battle, then managed to catch him afterwards (1600CP) with the pokeballs they gave me as reward.  He was constantly jumping and moving around making it way harder than your average pokemon, but got him on the last ball they gave me.  I've never even seen a Grimer before, so it gives me motivation to try some of these raid battles that have pokemon I haven't encountered.

so far in raids I have gotten

Muk, Weezing

Magickarp, Quilava. and Bayleaf.

My youngest absolutely loves the raids....

My oldest doesn't really want to play anymore even with the new features.

I have a managed to get 50 coins a day recently...what I Really miss is the 500 stardust per coin you used to get...I have also noticed people putting terrible pokemons in gym. one gym had nothing but a 10 cp shuckle in it. still took 3 turns to knock it out because its motivation was at its highest...strangeness

brohans just because your wife says there is a muckalunkazoid in your sink and that if you get the garbage disposal unjammed you will get to capture it do not believe her she is just telling you bs to get you to fix the garbage disposal take that to the bank bromigos

Experienced the same thing this morning taking down an opponent's gym. It had 2 pokemon, both with less than full motivation and their CP under 1000. It took 3 turns with each of those pokemon to take them down to zero, even though the pokemon I was using was much higher CP. Almost seems as though they have set the attacking system  in the gyms to require 3 rounds of attacks no matter how much CP/motivation the defending pokemon have remaining. Don't understand that at all.

Also, the gym I attacked was blue and I'm red. After I defeated the gym I put one of my pokemon in it. But the color of the gym stayed blue instead of changing to red. I checked to make sure my pokemon was in there, which it was, without any other pokemon in there. I drove away and kept checking the color of the gym while I was within distance to see it. The color stayed blue the whole time. Will be interesting to see how long my pokemon stays in there and if the gym is still blue when I head home this evening.

Taking gyms down now is quite easy.  So the CP of the defender really isn't that important.  So my kids have been putting in low CP pokemon.  They still stay at the gyms as long as I do and collect the same number of coins.

I have been putting my pokemon in a gym late at night, hoping he can stay there 8 1/3 hours and bring home 50 coins the next day.

This is what my daughter and I do as well. There are two gyms in a mall near us that are sort of hard to access from outside, so we take them down around closing time and they will usually be there in the morning.

One year anniversary today....innernet rumors about an event......

Spawns have been good so far today caught a snorlax...electabuzz.and a hypno
I hope something happens.  I took down 3 gyms on my way to work this morning, but say nothing out of the norm.  I haven't seen a Snorlax in over 2 months.

Per website, another new picachu w ash hat and sale items were announced for today. Pretty meh, but there's been a lot lately with the gym revamp and Chicago Fest coming.

Coins accrue based on time in the gym...and you only collect when ur guy gets booted....50 coin limit.per day...

Accumulation is1 coin per 10 minutes....so you need 8.5 hours to get to the max

Um...yeah...so... wife and I bought way-overpriced tickets to the Festival in Chicago, airline (at least we used miles and companion pass), and apartment across the street from Grant park and heading for a couple days from KC to Chicago to partake in the festivities. One of the spontaneous, waste of money, things we've done but we've played daily regularly almost a year now so what the heck. We wanted to go to Chicago this year anyway, so good excuse here.

Luckily, I use an alias here.  :bag:

Looks like everyone wherever you are will get some bonuses as well.

did anyone go to that cluster in Chicago?  sounded like only people with Sprint could actually play at the event

Since about 8pm yesterday everything has been double...xp...stardust.....candy...reduced length to hatch eggs and buddy walks. End Monday at 5pm pdt

My sons and I went to  local park and did a legendary raid . we had 6 people trying to defeat an articuno and couldn't get it done......gonna be hard to snag them unless you time it right and play with other people. I had heard that other local communities have had groups of 30 plus showing up to do raids for them...so maybe next weekend.

Yap - went to the disaster. I don't think anyone was playing. Lost in the criticism I've scanned also was the cluster that was the lines. When we left at about noon, lines were still way down the block and around with people pouring in, so even if the tech worked perfectly, many people would've missed half the event.

On the bright side, it all turned out ok as the result was the same - all the bonuses and a bunch of legendary. Walking around Chicago Sat. night was fun. Tons of people playing and legendary raids all over the place.

With quadruple points, working on my 3rd Lucky Egg Evolve binge of the day right now - been saving up waiting for this.

About 10 is right...you could do it with 8 or so if everyone is high level, but 10 seems to be the number.  We did 6 legendary raids yesterday coordinating with different groups around the area.  Probably the most fun I had since the first week the game came out!

Come in to this thread every now again... just to confirm my decision to quit playing was a good one.
Yeah, I've pretty much stopped. Between the app taking forever to load - assuming it does load - and then draining my battery quickly, the payoffs are too few and far between on the game. I used to see the rare Pokémon on occasion but they seemed to dry up altogether. We caught a bunch of Snorlax early on, but I haven't even seen one nearby in more than nine months, and I've never seen an Aerodactyl nearby. The kids don't have any interest any more so I guess we are done. It was a lot of fun early on.

My boys and I headed out Sunday afternoon to see if we could find a legendary raid.  We ended up running into a big group of almost 20 doing an Articuno raid at a church and jumped in with them (we went 0/3).  We then followed them to a local college and did another Articuno and Son #1 caught it (1/3).  We then headed over to a local park and did another Articuno and I and Son #2 caught him there (2/3),  While there we found out they were all chatting on an app called Discord about where these were popping up and that's how they knew where to find them.  We then headed to a Lugia raid (0/3) and then a park that had both an Articuno (0/3) and a Lugia (0/3) but struck out there.  Ended up 3/9 on Articunos and 0/6 on Lugias.  Each raid was no problem because we never had fewer than 15 and several times had 18-20 people playing.  We counted up the number of people that caught something each time and Articunos seemed to be about a 15% catch rate (~3/20) and Lugia was about 10% (~2/20).

I ran out and did a couple over lunch and caught a Lugia on the kids phone but missed on mine (1/2).  Then went 0/2 with both phones on an Articuno.  Tried one more Articuno and got him on my phone (1/2).  The kids asked me to pick them up early from camp to do some more before 8:00.  Headed over to a local restaurant just about under an overpass and there were already about 40 people there doing two raids.  Hung out and waited 5-10 minutes to build another group and it started pouring.  Was kind of cool having a big group under the overpass in the rain for a raid.  I caught the Lugia but my kids didn't (1/3).  Son #2 was only one without a Lugia so we tried one more in the downpour.  Went down the street to the library and there were 19 of us hanging out outside under an extended awning trying to stay dry and catch a Lugia.  Two people caught it but we went 0/3.

Lehigh98's vs Articuno: 4/16 - Batted .250

Lehigh98's vs Lugia: 2/14 - Batted .143

Didn't catch many but quality over quantity, here's two that I got:

Perfect Articuno

Perfect Lugia

The whole group / community aspect made for the most fun we've had playing Pokémon Go, hope they still have enough legendary raids after the event (and the legendary raid pass rumors aren't true) so we can do it more often.

Via Pokémon Go Twitter: "Trainers, the global rewards unlocked during #PokemonGOFest have been extended 72 hours. They will now end at 5:00 P.M. PDT on July 27."

Haven't even seen a legendary raid, but am liking the double xp/candy/dust.  Stumbled on a nest of Voltorbs which I had only seen one of to this point and with some pineapples got enough to evolve one.  Also stumbled upon a 1900CP tyranitar.  I've been walking my near perfect IV larvitar to build candies for the evolve, but would also require a bunch of leveling.  Need to find a nest of magicarp during this event.

brohans another warning if your old lady tells you man we have water leaking in by the base of the basement wall you need to dig up the exterior parge that sucker and put on some waterproofing and probably catch a squirtel down there that is causing the water she is lying she just wants you to break your back doing backfill work do not believe her you will be sorry i repeat there is no squirtel in there take that to the bank bromigos

I played a bit with the GF yesterday (wink wink) due to the promo. Have done so the last few big promos, but not playing outside that or solo.

The double everything has been nice.... we've been using eggs to get 4x everything. Add in a Pinapberry for 4x candy on certain evolve-friendly mon, and you've got a very productive hour or so of playing. I think we each raked about 250-300k EXP in a bit over an hour yesterday. She's really wanting to try to chase down a legendary raid tonight.. we shall see.

Legendary in Chicago was easy last weekend. Did 5 and caught each on first try. I haven't had time to play since getting back but sounds like it's much tougher based on messages above.

Stubhub refunding my scalper-priced Fest tickets which is nice also - ending up with all the benefits with no cost is unexpected and lucky.

Still checking in a few times a day because I'm bored at work or when I go on a walk around the neighborhood.  I've been saving up evolves for a lucky egg for a while, sounds like I need to do that and finally get to level 30.

Do it before Thursday at 8pm ET and get 4x EXP with an egg.

Sunday,  I wasn't expecting  to see a legendary, but as I drove to the mall two different ones popped up. The first one I accidentally hit my raid pass on in the parking lot and found myself alone against this thing. In a fit of overconfidence--I figured why not? Yeah that was over quick.

The next one I went into the mall and I found a group of about 20 people congregated around the stop battling. Right as I was getting to join in, most of them began screaming and were happy they won.  I go to join, and I am left with this small group of stragglers, who had no idea what they were doing and we didn't even bring that thing down 30%

That being said, this current event is pretty cool. I have hatched a few new ones and I am really moving onward and upward toward level 32

We went on a legendary raid today. Met up with 15 really weird people and hit 3 legendary raids. We killed all 3. I caught the first arcasomething and whiffed on the second. Then we went to catch the other one and I wiffed on that too. The GF got one of each so she's very excited.

Articuno (Team Mystic’s mascot) was released on July 22nd and will be available through Monday, July 31st

Moltres (Valor’s mascot) will be released on Monday, July 31st and will be available through Monday, August 7th

Zapdos (Instinct’s mascot) will be released on Monday, August 7th and will be available through Monday, August 14th

Curiously, no word yet on whether Lugia (the other Legendary released on July 22nd) will hang around.

Missing from Gen 1  #45 Vileplume, #84 Farfetch'd  #115 Kangaskhan, #122 Mr Mime and then the Legendary ones. (do any of you have those 3 regional ones?)

Then I am still missing about 15 from Gen 2  :(

Never seen any of those, but I did hatch a Gloom and have caught a few Oddish.  If I could find some Oddish during this event I could get there with pineapples.

Went to 4 legendary raids this week with my 7-year-old son.  Each raid had about 15 people show up, and the community aspect was great.  He loved every minute of it.  We caught 2 Articunos and 2 Lugias, and he is very excited about the upcoming legendary ones.
