Pokemon Go (1 Viewer)

Did they change the positioning on the map. Use to be upper left was closest. Now, everything close is bottom right. Same for anyone else?

Eta)now stuff is popping up right in front of me that is not even on the map
The tracking is just completely broken for now.

Just tried the Rainer with a 554 Eevee...gave me a Jolteon :kicksrock: I had 2 Vaporean, 1 Jolteon and 1 Flareon in my inventory. I renamed the Eevee to Rainer. Killed the app and restarted and then evolved...no bueno.
The first two Evee I evolved both went Jolteon before reading about the renaming. I did the renaming thing with the next two and it worked for Rainer and Pyro. Not sure what will happen now that I have a full set.

It's really amazing that a game can be offline this often but still remain ultra popular.
Yeah, down for about the past 2 hours here.  Good thing I "collected" this morning when I still had a few guys in gyms.

Has anyone acquired enough coins via gyms to buy anything yet?

Not me, but if anyone does here's some advice: the only item worth spending coins on is an egg incubator.
At this point yes - that will likely be the first that I guy (sucks that they are only good for 3 eggs, though).  Next I'll get the larger backpack to hold more items.  That should allow me to take on and take down more gyms, which should assist in more coins, to be spent on lucky eggs and incense in bulk.

Is there any way to get stardust other than capturing?

Babysitter's week off.  Today is my day home with my boys.  I promised them that I would download the game and we could play (to this point, it has been successfully limited to my wife's phone).

I've been bugged all morning about when we can hunt Pokemon.  I keep telling them that it's broken amd we can play as soon as it's fixed.  I don't think they believe me.

Got poketools app for android.  Has pretty much all the tools and calculators in one spot.  Of course none of the stuff that relies on the game is working as it's down pretty hard now.

Might be that google users are fine, but those who go through Pokemon Trainer Club are stuck. I go through google and haven't had any problems today, but pokevision has been down pretty much all morning due to the Trainer Club service being offline.

I'm at 60 coins and will probably get a lucky egg or incubator when I save up enough.

Pokevision has been so awesome since the map doesnt work.

Just checked and saw a pikachu which we dont have yet. My son, nephew and myself run across the street and catch him. Was worth it for my sons reaction. Dancing and singing that he caught pikachu.

Say what you want, but pokemon go bringing the acer family together.

Gf and I are always rushing out of the apt at night when we see a pikachu pop up on pokevision. I got lucky and hatched one this morning, up to 29 candies. Highest is only a 493cp though.

Pokebliss>pokevision for finding close pokemon.   Had my 2nd snorlax pop up on radar. Pokevision showed nothing but ran to where pokebliss said and caught him. Low level though :(

Pokevision doesn't seem to work in my area (northern Cincinnati area).  Will need to try out Pokebliss.

With that said, I noticed the game wasn't loading this morning on Android.  Anyone else having this problem?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but...

Does anyone else frantically tap the flashing red button on the Poke Ball once they've caught a Pokémon?  I did this for quite some time initially, and every time that I did, I never had one escape.  Ever.  The few times that I didn't, sure enough, they would escape and flee.  I had no idea on the strategy of the game...I just saw a flashing red light and thought, "Hey, flashing red button - I bet I'm supposed to push that."

Admittedly, I was at a pretty low level at the time, so the Pokémon I was catching weren't that tough; it may have just been a coincidence that the few that escaped happened to be ones in which I didn't tap the flashing button.  As I started to get more interested in the gameplay and read up on techniques (as well as leveling up and getting Razz Berry and Great Ball), I figured it didn't matter and I was just being a noob.  Of course as I leveled up, the Pokémon got harder to catch and I started missing more...sometimes even using Razz/Great.

Finally, after using at least 6 balls on a Tauros, I said screw it and went back to tapping the red button.  Sure enough, I caught him with the next throw.

I'm at level 19 now, and it still seems like I notice a difference.  It doesn't work all the time, and I still use Razz/Great on the tough/rare targets, but I would swear I notice a difference even on the commons.

Anyone else do something similar?  Any idea on how I could quantify/prove this that doesn't involve painstakingly recording types, levels, and catch rates using different methods (I hate the idea of wasting throws and losing Pokémon to prove a point)?

Finding that pokebliss is great to just log in and quickly check to see if it's worth it for me to launch my app.

But Pokevision is what I use when I have some free time to get out an hunt those rarer ones. Using the filter they provide I can just eliminate all the low tier stuff and quickly find what I want.

Go Tools can tell you much quicker if Go is down. jmo.  I assume go tools will eventually make bliss native.  They seem to update this thing daily.

Except for those of us that Pokevision doesn't work very well for. Glad someone mentioned Poke Bliss it's much more accurate for my area.

My son is now onto watching the show on netflix. I watched the first one with him yesterday so I kind of get the premise now.

Same results here.
PokeBliss looks a nice alternative with wider range scans, but damn it's slow :(

PokeVision has selectable options to eliminate crap (Rats, Pidgeys, Worms, etc) and just see good stuff, and seems to be much quicker for me.

EDIT: PokeBliss seems to be up to speed now and seems to be much easier to use on my phone. Nice! Thanks for sharing.

Pokevision and PokeBliss both seem to be up and running right now, but according to them both, there are zero Pokemon any where close to me.

So maybe I picked the wrong color....

So I was able to get guys in 3 gyms at the same time for my "collection" this morning.  I've realized, though, that most gyms in my area are held by red (which is also my color).  One gym here locally is a level 3, and the lowest guy in it currently is a 1238 Flareon - which I don't have anyone strong enough to take on 1-1 to level it up and put my guy in there.  But another gym in town was blue, and had two pretty high Vaporeons in it, but I was able to take it down totally and put in a guy as I was able to roll into the fight with 6 guys.

Am I thinking correctly?

Love Pidgeys. Their cheap evolve makes it easy to gain XP.

At level 22, they're often 250-400cp pains in the asses... notorious for requiring half a dozen or more balls to catch. :hot:   Frequently i'll look at them and if they're 150+cp I'll just walk away. Not worth the hassle.

Plus I need 100k XP to get to the next level... slow moving.

I try to catch anything.  If it breaks out more than once, I quit.

Gym near my apt is being repeatedly taken over by a coordinated group of level 30+ gps spoofers who leave 2300cp+ defenders. It's getting really old.

Is there a way to know they are gps spoofing or is it just unlikely a bunch of people are level 30+

So if one ever "escapes" (you see the little puff of smoke/dust as they go), do you ever have a chance of getting them back?

Game is weird though.  Caught a level 1017 Scyther yesterday with 1 regular ball, no razzberry.  Yet a level 150 spearow will break out 3 times.  Da fuq
