Pokemon Go (2 Viewers)

Had Dratini on my sightings list for the first time yesterday, I was on the beach and he was in the 5th spot. I walked along the beach and then down a pier and he kept getting closer until eventually he was 1st on my sightings list, but I never found him :kicksrock:  Paddle boat would have been perfect in that situation.

Took my daughter by my office downtown today and walked around. Gym across the street was controlled by 3 blue team Pokes. I go over and take it down. Pretty soon you see these three guys come running over all dressed in the same blue shirt coordinating their guys to get "their" gym back.

My daughter and I walk around some more and on the way back to the car, I can see the blue nerds have their gym back. I get in my car and launch an attack as I am leaving and take it back. I wanted to see if they would come running again, but I was on a time crunch.

My daughter is also red team. I had her stick a low level CP rat in there just to add insult to injury to them.

Of all the pokemon i have, i find myself using eggecutor, jolteon and electabuzz the most right now. With all the vaporeon, lapras, slowbro and poliwrath around in my area, they've been wrecking house.

Don't think I saw this mentioned in here, you can force close the game on the evolve animations, then restart the game. Should be a little quicker than the evolve animation = more evolves per lucky egg.
Did 80 evolves with distractions on a lucky egg. 3-4 evolves/minute this way.

Water pokemon are extremely accessible to me. I'm working on my third Poliwrath. The previous 2 had poor movesets so I scrapped them and started to work on another as poliwags are so easy for me to get. I also see horsea, krabby, staryu, tentacool, seel, psyduck almost every day I play. Drowzees are also annoyingly common. I've evolved 4 or 5. Squirtles slighting are frequent enough that I could see myself getting enough for a Blastoise one day. I have a Wartortle and 30 candies. I saw 3 more squirtles on my sightings list over the past week or so but I couldn't track down any of them.

Fire pokemon though I basically never seen. I hatched a charmander from a 2k egg. I've never seen another. I got lucky and caught a ninetails one day then later hatched a vulpix from a 5k egg. Other than that I've never seen another fire pokemon in the wild. No growlithes, ponytas, magmar, etc.
Pretty much the opposite here in western KS. I have four Arcanine, six Rapidash, two Ninetails. After hatching a ####load of eggs, I've finally gotten some things like Golduck, Kingler, Poliwhirl, and Tentacruel, but it's taken a while.

That's probably the most frustrating part of the game for me right now - even if I'm near water, the game has apparently decided there should be no water pokemon here. Maybe in 5 years I'll hatch enough Magikarp for a Gyarados.
My biggest problem is that I like to play at the same spots repeatedly. That's not how they want you to play the game. Someone posted an awesome guide on Reddit for my area: https://www.reddit.com/r/TripAndFly/comments/4xfj95/pokemon_go_guide_for_minnesota/. There's a lot of #### fairly near me that I never see in the places that I play. I've been meaning to check out some of his spots for different pokemon but I tend to grind at my usual spots instead.

Was able to do 60  with time left today.

On another note, caught a Dratini and Dragonair out at lunch today.  First time I had ever seen those so things are looking up.

After my cp1839 Snorlax last week, I caught a second Snorlax today with just cp43. Weird. I'm not complaining, but I do think it is weird to find big/rare monsters with low values when I'm at level 20 or higher.
is your avatar from the hobbit?

5 New Pokemon in the last 2 days or so:

Caught Butterfree 210 at buddy's house Sat
Caught Magmar 1349 on street by my house Sat
Caught Dugtrio 507 at same buddy's house Sun AM
Hatched Sandshrew 434 from 5km egg this AM
Hatched Shellder 444 from 5km egg this AM

Never even seen a Scyther until Saturday.  I now have 3 of them (highest cp 1244).  Also hit level 25 this past weekend.  You got an egg incubator, lure, lucky egg, incense, bunch of ultra balls and some "mas potions".  Went way over what my bag could hold so stops stopped working for a bit until I used some stuff and threw some other stuff out.

What's your oldest pokemon? Sort by recent and find the bottom pokemon.

Mine is a Pidgeot from 7/17. I started 7/10. I must have transferred my starter squirtle  :(

This game continues to tease me.

Pretty much everyone in my area who is level 20+ has either a Snorlax or Lapras. I have neither (level 24), mostly because I rarely get 10k eggs. However, I lucked into TWO 10k eggs on Saturday and was pretty pumped. Results: Jynx and Pinsir. #######it.

Would have never thought to do this.  It claims that it's a cp 156 Doduo, but I'm not sure that's correct as I did the Pikachu trick to start and I wouldn't have transferred him.

Found a new place to go to checking a reddit thread for my area, stopped yesterday on my way home.  At least 100 people were there camping out.  Crazy.

Apparently this is the best place to catch pokemon within 50 miles.  Stayed 30 minutes and caught some rare ones for me.  Duduo(new), Tentacool, Staryu, Ponyta, Scyther(new), Pikachu, Voltorb(5 of them), Magnemite, Vulpix, Charmander.  It is crazy.  Maybe take my son down there tonight, he will go nuts.

Amazing how just a little change in geography can give a total shift in available Pokemon. Went to lunch with my wife - about 30 miles from my neighborhood. Caught three dodrios - one over cp1000 - and had never even seen a dodrio before.

My oldest is a CP 99 Chansey caught 7/13, only one I've ever caught. Not my starter as I started 7/11.  I don't recall what my starter was.

Got lucky today with eggs....hatched a CP 1670 Lapras and a 884 Lickitung.  Both new to my pokedex.

Same - just got to level 24, and still waiting to hatch a Snorlax or a Lapras.  My last two 10km eggs were both Onix, which look cool, but are really weak (<500CP at Level 20).

I have my starting Charmander from 7/10

I have only one other though within 11 days of that: a Koffing on 7/18

FWIW I think the game checks your coordinates every 200 seconds in regards to calculating distance traveled.

I checked frequently during a walk I took at lunchtime.  It seemed the egg distances refreshed with regularity every 3+ minutes, and never sooner.

I don't understand why the period is so long, especially given that the game checks your position relative to spawn points every 10 seconds.

I saw they have another release coming out

Pokémon GO updated to version 0.35.0 for Android and 1.5.0 for iOS

Trainers,

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.35.0 for Android and 1.5.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

  • Implemented Pokémon Appraisal: Trainers will now be able to learn about a Pokémon’s attack and defense capabilities from their Team Leader (Candela, Blanche or Spark) to determine which of their Pokémon have the most potential for battle.
  • We are still working hard on several new and exciting features to come in the future of Pokémon GO.
  • Minor bot fixes

I keep hoping they bring back an improved tracker radar or release whatever that nearby sightings is.

Updates have a useless appraisal feature and you now have to use revives when you battle your own gym.  Terrible.

Why can't these ####ers just publish the stats on the pokemon?

Milwaukee says Naintic needs a permit for their pokemon characters that spawn in the county parks.

Developers of Pokemon Go must obtain geocaching permits for each Pokemon character location withinMilwaukee County Parks or remove the sites from the popular game played on mobile phones and other devices, Parks Director John Dargle says in a letter to the game's developer Niantic Inc.

The intent of the letter is not to shut the game out of the parks but to alert San Francisco-based Niantic that it will be responsible for monitoring each Pokemon location at least four times a year for damage caused by throngs of players, Dargle said.

The county needs to know where all the Pokemon characters hang out in the parks to ensure they are not located in natural areas or other environmentally sensitive habitats that cannot tolerate such disturbances, he said.

In the letter, he acknowledged the benefits of the Pokemon phenomenon, from getting people outdoors and walking to introducing them to the county parks.

"We want to partner with Niantic and share in the success of Pokemon but we also must balance that with respect for our parks and our neighbors," he said.

Niantic officials could not be reached for comment.

Neighbors of Lake Park have complained of daily traffic congestion caused by hundreds of new park users, parking problems along Wahl Ave., and an increase in littering while parks employees have observed damaged turf, he said.

Crews of inmates from the county's House of Correction have been accumulating required community service hours by picking up litter several days a week at Lake Park. Sheriff's deputies are patrolling the park and monitoring the activity to gain compliance with park operating hours, Dargle said.

The county has not received similar complaints from neighbors of other parks, he said.

There is no fee for the geocaching permit and the Parks Department is not asking Niantic for a contribution at this time, he said.

The county's geocaching permit guidelines do not specify such virtual games, however.

The guidelines were published several years ago when outdoor geocaching became popular among families using GPS devices and published cache locations.

A physical cache is defined as a hidden container filled with items.

But a virtual cache is defined in the guidelines as a landmark, such as a building or even a landscape view.

I actually like the appraisal feature a lot. If you're using an IV calculator you can use it to significantly narrow down different iv combinations (often to 1-3). It gives me a good enough idea of iv rating that I will probably stop using calculators completely.

Occasionally I'll find the evolved version of a Pokemon before the base one.  In the last week I found Gloom (had never seen Oddish), Arcanine (had never seen Growlithe) and Tentacruel (had never seen Tentacool) - just dumb luck or have most of you had that happen too?

Also, 99% of what I see at my house is Weedles, Spearows, Rattatas and Pidgeys, had two "where the hell did you come from?" moments - Squirtle in my living room and a damn Arbok in my bedroom.

I think they lowered the incidence of revives and potions with the latest update.

Also, I have no 10k eggs right now after going through my last two yesterday. 3-2kms and 6-5kms all new since the update. I've probably gotten 15 eggs since the update and no 10kms.

Hit up that spot near me this AM on my way into work for a few minutes.  Was just about to leave when a Lapras showed up.  Used 15 ultra balls and rasperries like crazy, but finally got  him!  My son is going to be so mad that he wasn't there.  CP1341, the other one I have which hatched is CP1660, but I powered it up quite a bit.

Also, haven't gotten a 10km egg in weeks, if they are getting rarer, that is going to stink.  I've had 3/52 that were 10km

I've read that the haul you get from Pokestops is negatively correlated to your level.....which is ####### stupid

It's dumb luck.

I caught a Machamp without ever seeing a Machop or a Machoke.  A few days later I found a machoke.  It was a while longer before I got the initial species, Machop, which eventually hatched from an egg.  These are the only three I've ever seen, which sucks because the Machamp is pretty good in battle and I'd like to power him up.

I also caught a Seaking before ever encountering a Goldeen.

Those are the only two for me.  The rest have always been base model first.

I don't think the incidence of 10km eggs changed, I got two post-update, ending a week-long drought.

I am at halfway through level 21 with 130km walked and 55 eggs hatched and still have not seen a 10km egg.  If they lowered the chance to pull them I may never get one.  On a side note, as much as it sucks pulling pidgeys, and rattatas out of 2km eggs, I like them better since you can pull the starting pokemon

I agree with this - I try and put the 2km eggs on my infinite incubator, and put the 5 km and 10 km on the ones that expire after 3 uses.

:goodposting:

There is some very good value in 2km eggs because of this. Not only do you have a chance at hatching a starter, but their IV's will be much higher than what you catch in the wild. I have hatched a number of 84%+ Squirtles - the best I have found in the wild has been no larger than 60%.

I have yet to hatch a Bulbasaur or a Charmander though. I chose Squirtle as my starter, not sure if this had an impact on what I have hatched.
