Pokemon Go (2 Viewers)

I'm kinda done playing this as well.  Nothing but weedles and rats around me - and not interested in chasing around town anymore. The incubator tracking doesn't work.  I took my son to a park yesterday where I skated and he rode his bike, yet our 6 mile trip only accounted for 1.5km on a 2km egg.  It's gotten to the point the kids don't care about it at all.  It's a shame because this had promise, but it's quickly turned into another forgotten game in our household.

Hadn't even seen a Snorlax in the wild till yesterday, now I've seen two, caught 1.  Only like CP63, but at least I got one now.

We were hanging on the couch Wed PM and the GF jumps up "Snorlax!" We get in the car and do a quick lap through the neighborhood to use the tracker to narrow down it's location to an apartment complex behind our house. We both caught it (1650ish for me and 1350ish for her). She still loves catching these guys so we're still playing. If she ever stops enjoying it I'll likely back down as well.

Made it to level 25 yesterday.

I'm still having fun catching as many different pokemon as possible. This is the only pokemon game I've played where I'm more concerned with building my Pokedex than just getting the strongest team possible and ignoring weak pokemon. I already have a lot more pokemon than I've had in any other game.

Can someone explain what IV means like I'm Shuke?
Every stat has an IV ranging from 0 to 31 for each stat (HP, ATK, DEF, SPA, SPD, and SPE), and at level 100, their IVs are added to the Pokémon's stats for their total values. For example, a level 100 Tyranitar with no Effort Values and 0 IVs has 310 HP, however if it had 31 IVs, it would have 341 HP

So how is this score different from CP?

sounds like it stacks ontop. a dog with cp100 iv0 =cp100   and a dog with cp100 iv100 =cp130 or so

I don't think it really makes much of a difference unless you're on a mission to obtain perfect pokemon. which will take forever

I've been in Vegas for the past 4 days. Lots of new pokes found here compared to what I'm used to in L.A. Also hatched a psyduck, I love that goofy *******.

This was my starter Pokemon - haven't seen one since.  I'm almost to level 22 - was able to evolve an Ivysaur and close to evolving Squirtle but I figure I'll have to hatch the evolved Charmanders.
I caught a Wartortle with 142cp very early and missed a Venusaur at level 12.  I have not seen either again ever since.

Never seen one nor hatched one. Had a 10k egg that hatched into an 1119 Electrabuzz....lame.
My 10k just hatched a 1197 Electrabuzz. I was really hoping for something cool as I already had one of these. My daughter just hatched a Dratini that's pretty cool. Her and I and are still having a lot of fun with this game. We walked almost 4 miles today and caught a ton of Pokes.

It's fun finding new spawn points for some of these.  I had never seen an Electabuzz until I went for a walk near a river a few miles away.  Caught 4 of them in 30 minutes.  Also found several Magikarp after never seeing them.  Went on a hike yesterday up Kennesaw Mtn. and there were Bulbasaurs everywhere - saw two at one time which is unusual in my experience for any starter Pokemon or lesser seen ones.

I've been searching for new areas to play to keep the game from going stale. Recently, I found a charmander nest near me. I enjoy playing there more than any other location I've found. Every time I've gone I've run into 5-7 other players. It always takes some time to track the charmander down when it pops up on the radar. The other players are always eager to work together in finding them.

I'll see one on my radar and ask the guy walking in the other direction "any idea where the charmander is?" and he'll say "yeah, dude it's back that way". Or I'll be walking along with someone and one will pop up on our radars. If we came to a fork in the path we'd each take one direction. When one of us found it we'd go back and tell the other person where it is. Sometimes it would fall off both of our radars and we'd backtrack and eventually figure out it had spawned on the path behind us.

That is the beauty of this game.

Nice! I'll be there in a couple of weeks.
With all the fountains, pools and mini lakes around the hotels, lots of water pokemon in them middle of the Nevada desert.  :P

:lmao:  I still can't believe how many adults play this game.
I took my kids to a local park that they heard had a reputation for good pokemons. Normally this is a pretty sleepy little park in nowhere NJ. As I was driving up there were cars parked probably a quarter mile down the street because the parking lot was full. Finally parked and wandered to where a crowd maybe the size of the Provo one in the video was. Stood there for maybe five minutes and someone yelled out the name of some rare Pokemon and the whole crowd (~150 people?) moved en masse probably a hundred yards in one direction. Maybe ten mintues later, the same thing happened and they want back the other way.

Saw some 30ish year old with two extra large screen phones with the battery charger wires going to his back pack. He was sporting his matching Red team Pokemon hat and shirt with the sleeves cut off so everyone could see his Red Team tatoo. Crazy.

Another goofy sight was the parents with their phones discussing strategy (or dinner options, I didn't hear) doing that whole walking around searching with their phone screens and three kids tagging along behind them. These were maybe five or six year olds. no phone, just following mom and dad around.

Wow. That's scary.

Was at my son's soccer practice and one of the moms had a younger son asking for her phone so he can go catch pokemon in the park.  She says "No, last time I gave you my phone to play you wasted all my pokeballs"  The kid started crying, so she raises her voice and says "Okay fine, but if you waste my pokeballs again you are never playing again"  She gives him the phone and the kid runs off.  serious business

Don't recall if posted this story before, but came up again last night so I figured I'd share...

Driving through a park that's pretty loaded one night a week or so ago, myself, GF, and buddy in the car. All Blue team.

We take out a gym and head for a lap to get some spins in and try to catch some guys... we come back to the spot a bit later to find a car stopped at the intersection (low traffic but still blocking traffic) trying to take our gym. It's one guy, and we've got some pretty big characters in there (snorlax 2200, and a couple 2k vapes) so it's taking him a while. We see a car pull up behind him then give up and have to go around him.

So, we pull up behind him (but on the shoulder of the road to not further obscure traffic), and wait as he slowly chips away at the gym. Right as the gym turns neutral, all three of us throw another high CP character in there to snipe him... then pull up next to him, couple quick taps on the horn to say hi, and drive off. He figures out what just happened and LAYS on his horn as we drive away.

Don't be an ####### and block traffic.

I visited some historic sites all throughout Virginia over the weekend, mostly Civil War related.  Stops were everywhere, along with plenty of gyms that are apparently rarely used.  I still have 2 or 3 of those gyms with a guy in them today.  Anyway, caught a few brand new guys that I'd never seen before.  Had never seen or heard of Omanytes or Kabutos, but was getting them left and right all weekend like they were pidgeys and rats.

so if they stay in that abandoned gym you will continue to receive coins?

Been a victim of having a gym snipped from me... would like to see that ability removed from the game... but while it exists, THAT story is a perfect example of how to put the ability to snipe to good use!

Yes, I've done that plenty of times for cheap coins.

But I think in fairness, the attacker should have the right to put a poke into a beaten gym from the battle screen.
In the case where there are multiple attackers, the player that does the most damage to the defending pokemon should be given priority to claim the gym.

Finally got a good one with my 2nd 10k egg today, a 1240cp Magmar. First new anything I've caught or hatched in a while.

It's dumb that it doesn't just automatically heal the attacker you "won" the gym with and stick him in there.

Really? I have three of them. 1781cp, 1587cp, and 1130cp. They are the last evolution of Bellsprouts, which are seem plentiful here in Ohio. Pokedex says I've seen 85 and caught 78 of them. They melt Vaporeons like butter. I love them. Use them a lot given all the Vaporeons holding gyms.

Saw a Vaporeon in the wild yesterday on my sightings but never found it.

I think somebody else posted the math to get to level 40 previously but I did some calculating yesterday - based on my daily XP average since I started playing I would need over 3 years to get to level 40.  If I slow down and average 10k XP a day it will take 5.5 years.

thinking I don't do enough evolving. that's probably what it is. I have tons of candies just don't evolve much

There are rumours about a buddy system apparently in the works. Changes to the game code in the last update have people talking. The thought is you will be able select a pokemon to travel with you and it will award "buddy candies" based on distance travelled. Making candies for rare pokemon much more accessible

any rumors of trading in the works soon?  I'm holding onto lower level rare-ish ones that I could trade for ones that don't typically spawn in my area.  I mean I have 3 of those Voltorb things.

So at this point I'm CERTAIN there is a significant correlation between Hit bonus (Great/Excellent) and capture rate. I know it's been long since rumored, and I saw one study that focused more on the size of the ring than the bonus, but I think the bonus is what increases your odds.

I generally catch 50-60 a day at my desk at work, so I'm going to track them out of morbid curiosity (slow week at work) to see if I can cull any significance.

If you guys wanna follow along, here is the ongoing public dropbox link >

First Datapoints from the last 15 mins or so:

Char CP Circle Ball Bonus Capture
Eevee 670 Orange Reg Great Yes
Pidgey 370 Orange Reg Great Yes
Weedle 15 Green Reg Yes
Venonat 619 Orange Reg Excellent Yes

Note.. these are all curveballs. May do another dataset with straight tosses, but Im not sure I could hit bonuses with them regularly.

Lol.  Crazy how different areas have different things.  If I go down to the beach here, I can catch 5 of these in a half hour.  I have 3 of the evolved version, Electrode.

All 3 of mine have been from eggs.  Haven't seen one other than that.

Also, is it just me, or does finding a strong gym of your own color just suck?  I can take down pretty much any gym of another color, being allowed to take 6 guys to battle with me - but there is a local red gym that's level 9 right now.  It would take me an hour or better to battle it up to another level to get one of my guys in there as the lowest guy currently in there is around a 1900 Vap.
