Pokemon Go (1 Viewer)

The few friends that played this probably will have quit by the time the trading system arrives. I may never get all of Gen1.

We all have a white whale.  Got a Porygon, Hitmonchan, snorlax, Lapras, areodactle no problem.

I can't seem to find a Electabuzz or a Jinx anywhere.
dang there was an electabuzz nest at a park by work, I got over 100 candy catching so many of them.

only seen  1 aerodactyl, didn't catch him. :(

wonder what kind of event St. Patrick day will have? green pokemon? double XP? double stardust? I think the party hat Pikachu ends tonight

I think they should do some sort of "location switch" promotion.  When I went to Vegas I saw and caught a Porygon, Hitmonchan, Ominite, Kubuto and Magmar for the first time all within 3 days.  I caught enough Growliths to make two Archanies.  Never seen any of these guys in Florida.  Up in Boston it was A while different set of guys.  It's obvious geographical locations mean something to what spawns.  It would be cool if they made the Florida region like it was the southwest for a week.  Make the southwest like it was Boston.  They must have the ability to do short term changes like that

that would be cool. I live by the water so I get a lot of water types everywhere I guess that's not the case most places

I guess so and ours is definitely Lapras. We have plenty of Electabuzzes and Jinx here. The kids get mad when their 10 k eggs hatch a Jinx or an Onix. Only have one aerodactyl which we hatched. Plenty of Snorlax, Porygon and Hitmonlee.

Today was the 3rd time that I completed a 7 day streak since the 2nd generation started and still no special evolution item. Also haven't gotten a 10k egg in a long time. I guess the pokestops I visit must suck.
Posted the above on Saturday. The next day I got my 1st special evolution item, a sun stone. This morning I got my 2nd item, the metal coat. So much for there being some kind of pattern to receiving these.

So, kind of a dumb question, but the kids and I don't do a lot of stuff with gyms. Here's the question: Say you're Team Red and there's a Red Gym level 3. How does it become a level 4 gym? Do you battle it and if you beat all three characters it becomes a level 4? And then you can add one of your own to the gym which is now a level 4? We usually just battle other colored gyms and take them over.

Yeah, go battle another red gym.  Once you battle enough it will level up and you can put one of your guys in it.

I feel like I am killing Gen 2 and need a reality check. Lucky enough to be at the beach for a week and had saved up over 200 balls. With a couple of days left down here I already have 42 of the Gen 2 Pokémon with a couple that I should be able to evolve before we head home. Has anyone else seen this many of the new ones?  I have also had a tyrantitar, tangela and ursaring run away so hoping to see these again but doubtful.

As JB said, you level it up by battling it. But it doesn't level up based on the number of battles won. Each battle won is awarded a certain amount or prestige, and then certain levels of prestige level of the gym to allow more pokemon to join in to defend it. A savvy pokemon player will use lower CP pokemon in the battles because doing so is awarded higher prestige points when you win. And when using lower CP pokemon, the need to use battle type advantages becomes ever more important so that you don't lose and get awarded nothing.

Powering up gyms and collecting on 10 each day is the only thing I like about this game anymore. Catching pokemon is annoying given how balls take time to collect yet pokemon just randomly jump out of them even when you throw a curve and hit the circle with "excellent". Honestly, I think if you throw a bullseye, it should be impossible for the pokemon to escape. The fact that you can do everything right, yet the pokemon can still jump out and run away is a serious flaw, and THE reason I rarely spend time catching them anymore. I keep getting 5000 stardust every day to power up my existing pokemon, to make them seed higher in gyms. Given they can just increase the pokedex as soon I get close to completing it, I'm no longer chasing the dangling carrot.

hard for me being team yellow to collect 100 coins a day, I keep hovering around the 7/8 mark, taking down red or blue gyms just aren't worth it because there are so many more players in those colors they just take em back over. I try to just level up the yellow ones. Dodging the other guys big attack is also important.dodgin those mean you can last longer with just one guy.

And I feel the opposite. I am seeing a ton of Gen 1 and the occasional Gen 2, but they are all the same. My last two 5k eggs were an evee and a golding--yuck!! This 10k that's about to hatch for me better be good

spawners have changed again. gone are the pinsir, totodile, and houndour nests by me, replaced with Seel, and other garbage like that, sigh....need a good event next weekend

So it seems like they made the special evolve items available by having a 7 day poke stop streak every time  now.  I think most folks were reporting getting them at spin 7 but it didn't always happen.

I got a pop up today about getting a special item on my day 7 stop and did get one today.  I now have the Slowking with the castle rock and a Bellossom with the sunstone.  I now have 50 gen 2 with a couple more to evolve shortly.

Suddenly caught three omanytes today after rarely seeing them for months and months. Anyone else catching them all of a sudden?

Well, I finally caught a Lapras!!!! Went to a coffee shop and I was going to read for a bit before picking up our oldest after track. Lo and behold on the nearby was a Lapras.  Ran two blocks to where it was and caught it on both the kids' accounts. Only took one raspberry and one ultra ball apiece. Finally!!! Whoohoooo!

I had a Lapras on my radar but couldn't find him.So pissed!  LV 28 and still haven't seen on.

Whats up with the Yellow Karp?  I caught one.

Big time day for by my standards.  I'm about 5000 XP short of LV 29, but hatched a Porygon (cp867) out of a 5km Egg.  Caught my first Lapras (CP1293) and snagged a Dragon Scale at a pokestop.

Caught a Blastoise too, but had already evolved a few...had never seen one in the wild.

So far I've gotten 2 metal coats, and the Porygon upgrade and now the dragon scale.

And caught another one yesterday while leaving work. Idk if it's related to the water event or what, but I'll take it.

As much as I'm enjoying the guaranteed special item on day 7 of the pokestop streak I'm not enjoying my results. 5 Sun Stones so far....not one of any other kind.

The water event is helping me make great progress towards evolving a Gyrados. But so far no shiny Karps for me.

Here it is evolved. That was a fun event but I'm worn out from playing so much. I walked about 10km per day while playing each of the past few days. I'll probably take it easy for a while.

wow nice, what level are you?

I had a good water event except for no golden karp. (my son does have one though, needs a few more karp candy to get the red gyarados) cant complain about the other stuff I snagged lately. I seem to be lucky with evolution items, I have every single new pokemon that requires one. plus I have a few extras I cant even use.

The game will probably be "normal" until the easter event ( if there is one) new eggs? double speed on eggs maybe? grass type event? bunnies and executes everywhere?

Not sure what has happened in the game, but in the past week I've seen a Flareon and a Gyrados in the wild, which I've never seen before. So maybe some of the rarer evolved Pokemon are starting to spawn more often?

It's actually been happening for about a week now. There is a much higher spawn rate for rare Pokemons now.

I have a chat app that sends out reports of any rare pokemon in my city. I just have to been paying attention to it and then be willing to drive quickly to whatever location it spawn. On the first day my wife and I went out and drove around for 5 hours. She captured 21 new pokemons that she didn't have before. I snagged 14. Guys like Aerodactyl, Lapras, Weezing, Mareep, Larvitar, Miltank, etc.

We spent the whole time thinking it was a glitch. That it would end any minute. But it was still going the next morning. And it's still going even today. There was no formal announcement from Niantic about this change. So I'm not sure if it's a permanent change or not.

What app do you use?

Ugh, I have had pretty bad luck with the evolution items. 2 of the first 3 I got were sun stones, the last 2 I got were upgrade item. I have never seen a Porygon except in a gym so those upgrades are totally useless for me. Have even been trying different pokestop locations for my 7 day in a row reward hoping that different locations might help me get different evolution items. Doesn't seem to be working.

during the valentines event there was a porygon spawner. so I had like over 100 candies. have 2 upgrades that I cant use...im guessing that in future releases that there will be different pokemon that use these items or maybe they have new items too?

btw if you live in Detroit the rencen is the best place to play if your phone works inside of it that is.... hart plaza and riverwalk spawns are generally good too

Yeah. need a good event for Easter here---I am sure it will be something like quicker hatches on eggs or something similar.

The water even was awesome, Here where I live in Colorado, the water Pokemons just aren't seen. So to have Magikarps everywhere, that was amazing. I have 401 candy but my Magikarp I have is low IV, so I don't want to evolve it because I am guessing this will be my only shot at a Gyarados.

Level 29 and I did get my Scizor yesterday,, but other than that, pickings have been really slim. I have not seen anything new in a long time and I am only at 187.caught
