Wow the votes saying now are way beyond the yes votes.. more than 50 more say no..

I've watched this team all year and the D is pretty good but the offense is hot and cold.. Cutler is the key since the games that they have lost have been based on turn overs mainly.. They are all not his fault since his O line is brutal and his receivers are awful... but he has to run with the ball and pickup 1st downs with his legs to extend drives and not throw it away on 3 and outs forcing his D to be on the field 3 quarters of the game..

I think this team has the potential to roll far into the playoffs but Cutler has to be smart with the ball and this O line has to step it up. I like the connection with Bennett recently and why they don't play Aromashodu is beyond me (big target and when he is in Cutler finds him).

Are the Bears for real? If they get the #2 seed, I'd say they'll be a tough out in the playoffs. I'll reserve my judgment for another 2 weeks.

The o-line play has improved dramatically since the Washington game. They are still a below-average unit but now they are at least playing at or above their talent level.

Does not hide the fact that the Bears still have the worst O-line in the NFL. Imagine if he had an avg O-line.

If I was asked if I was sold on any of the NFC playoff teams, I might say no to them all. There are surer bets than the Bears for sure but the only team I am sold on in the NFL are the Patriots. They are the only team that would stun me if the lost their opening game. After that, it really seems like a crap shoot to me.

What metrics are you using to arrive at this "fact"?
This is an index that came out a week or two ago (Bears dead last):

http://newyorklife.stats.com/fb/protection...l&year=2010

Here is another site that does advanced offensive line stats (not dead last, but still top 3 in worst lines):

http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol

Here is a third site that measures O-line performance (not dead last but still top 2-3 in worst O-lines)

http://wp.advancednflstats.com/teamOL.php

You cannot argue those facts and if you still disagree with sites that have some credibility, then how about the stat that the Bears have given up 48 sacks this season?

Look, I am a Bears fan, but to say that our O-line is doing okay, is delusional.

Yes they have their moments, but Cutler's inconsistency is a huge result of our O-lines inconsistent performance.

There's a reason why some metrics are based on the last 4 weeks. I admit the Bears had severe problems at the beginning of the year. But the team that played on blue and orange in the first 6 games isn't the same one that's played in the last few. Sometimes...course correction makes all the difference. Look at the cowboys.

Some of these metrics are not from the past for 4 weeks but from the whole season so far. You can't knit pick and just address how they are now than from what they are before.Did the O-line get better? Maybe, but this change in production is because of Martz. He changed his offensive scheme and dropped the 7 step drops and big plays. It's all more quick slants and short passes and running. Nothing wrong with that. HOWEVER, this translates in Cutler being a game manager. I hear it a lot nowadays on how Cutler is a game manager. Great, he is.... so was Orton when he was on our team. I DO NOT WANT A GAME MANAGER. I want a guy who will win us games and someone who will go on the field and think "okay this possession, they're going to score".

Right now, with this downplayed offensive scheme and terrible O-line is limiting what Cutler can do. Is he doing good? Yes, but I am not going to settle with just "good", but "great". Great will happen if there is a better O-line for the Bears. You can't deny that.

I'm a Bears fan and am not sold on this team... but then again, I'm not fully sold on any team in the NFC right now. The top few teams in the NFL are all in the AFC, imo.

The NFC is wide open and could make for an interesting playoffs.

Easy schedule - Check

Stayed unusually healthy - Check

Favorable game changing calls - Check

Geat timing in getting their opponents at their most weakened by crucial injuries - Check

The formula of dominating defense, a great running game, and great special teams is a winning formula. Bears fans think they have this. They don't. Their defense is good, not great. Their defense has not dominated. Yes their stats look good ,but that is a function of an easy schedule and getting teamsdevastated by injury. As for their running game it is nothing special. Not bottom half, but not near elite.

What the Bears have is good fortune, great timing, and elite special teams. The clock is going to strike midnight here real soon. I believe they end their season with three loses.
You obviously haven't watched any Bears games this season. In one game, I think it was against Washington, we literally had three touchdowns in a row called back based on questionable calls. And we lost that game. So you're saying having 3 touchdowns in a row called back in a loss is getting "favorable, game-changing calls." Other than the one CJ play, what callS are you referring to?Hate to keep spoiling this with facts, but the Bears are third in the league in total ppg, 8th in yards per game, 3rd in rushing yards pg, tied for third in interceptions, and tied for second in forced fumbles. And I see you have already swept away stats as any justification of how good they are (convenient) and attributed any success to an easy schedule. I would think winning your division, being tied for third in ppg allowed might suffice.
I see this week they will be facing an injured Mark Sanchez.

Why not? They're 10-4, time to give some credit. Are they the best team in the league? No, but there are plenty of teams that were worse that made a run and won it all or made it to the SB. I see no reason they can't be one of those teams.

The only team that would beat them in the playoffs is the Falcons IMO
really? I think the Bears could, if things broke right, beat any team in the NFL. If Cutler got hot or Hester had a big day, they can put up some points and the D is good enough to keep it close with anyone until one of those guys makes a play. I just don't like the matchup against the Eagles or Giants.

Yeah, they're lucky to have won a game this year. They have been nothing but lucky, they get all the calls, they get wins because their field is sooo terrible, Cutler is the worst QB in the NFL, they don't put up 40 a night or even 30, defense isn't how you win you win by putting up fantasy points, Urlacher is over rated, Martz is a terrible coordinator, the defense is over rated, the o-line is the worst in football, Forte is a bad NFL running back, they have no good wide receivers, the cover 2 is out dated, did I mention Cutler sucks? Why this team isn't 0-14 I'll never know..
Possible luckiest 2 seed ever in the history of SPORTS?!
