Definitely not having the time of his life.Joseph making a strong play for patron saint of this thread.
Clock was running. Cleveland would have been able to run it down another 40 seconds. Why did denver call a to? Its ten seconds...keep the to.
I thought refs said play clock to be set to 10 seconds???Clock was running. Cleveland would have been able to run it down another 40 seconds.
After declining to go for it on 4th and 1 from the 3, Broncos forced to go for it in 4th and 10 from the 50.Joseph kicking a FG on 4th and 1 from the 3 down 4 with 4:30 left. They never learn.
One of the dumbest coaching decisions of the year. He has to be trying to lose. After declining to go for it on 4th and 1 from the 3, Broncos forced to go for it in 4th and 10 from the 50.
And on fourth and 3 from their own 35ish.After declining to go for it on 4th and 1 from the 3, Broncos forced to go for it in 4th and 10 from the 50.
I don't think it was as much of a slam dunk decision as Broncos going for it on previous drive, but yeah, given that Denver had no timeouts and their offense hadn't been able to move the ball much, probably should have kicked the FG and made them have to score a TD.Browns should of kicked the fg to go 4....
+1Vance Joseph deserves his own thread. He is awful.
Not that Gregg Williams is that good, but I agree with the decision to go for it at the end. Get the 1st down and the game is over. Get stopped and your defense only has to stop Case Keenum (which they did).
I thought the same thing real time. I wonder what Vegas odds were of Boswell making that kick at that time. His entire body language looked awful after the first miss.I thought it was a mistake by Tomlin to throw on 3rd down with 2:35(ish) to go and the kick the FG with Boswell, but he made the FG and then the defense stopped Brady.
I thought running it on 3rd down to make it a more manageable 4th down, and getting the clock down to 2 minutes, and then going for it on 4th to put the game away would have been the right move.
Well said. I vote we change the name of this thread to:Joseph making a strong play for patron saint of this thread.

(For those not watching, they recovered a fumble at the Dolphins 17 and somehow ended up punting on 4th and 46 from their own 47.)
Maybe that will wake his dumb ### up. For such an O guru, he does stupid #### as well as anyone.Sean Payton continuing to pull Brees for Hill, who just threw an int
Yes it was. I don't care how bad your defense is and how good Brees is, you make the team go 80 yards to beat you, not 40.The decision to go for the fake wasn’t stupid by any means. The play call was
I disagree but I’ve also a seen a lot of how this Steelers D performs in crunch time.Yes it was. I don't care how bad your defense is and how good Brees is, you make the team go 80 yards to beat you, not 40.
Having said that, it's appearing that it may work out for them.
Gruden not doing enough to lose is another dumb thing. At this point, get the draft pickGruden lighting one of his timeouts on fire by throwing a challenge flag on a scoring play.
They have three first round picks, so I think they are in good shape with their draft positions in the first round. Winning was a nice gift for Oakland, since it may be the last game there for the Raiders.Gruden not doing enough to lose is another dumb thing. At this point, get the draft pick
No way he did thatGruden lighting one of his timeouts on fire by throwing a challenge flag on a scoring play.
Lol, but he did. It wasn't an instant thing either - took like a minute before he threw the red flag. Plus they showed an ex-NFL official in the Raiders booth that's on the Raiders staff for such things. No way he did that
And it wasn't even a good challenge. Replays clearly showed Keenum was behind the LOS when he threw the pass.Lol, but he did. Maybe he was trying to take some heat off of Vance Joseph in this thread.
And isn’t the rule (unless it changed) ANY part of your body - the ball and 99% of your body can be across the LOS but if you’re trailing foot isn’t then no foul. And it wasn't even a good challenge. Replays clearly showed Keenum was behind the LOS when he threw the pass.

Look do you really expect Gruden to know the rules around both the LOS and challengable plays? He's only got a 10 year contract! It takes at least 12 years to figure this stuff out.And isn’t the rule (unless it changed) ANY part of your body - the ball and 99% of your body can be across the LOS but if you’re trailing foot isn’t then no foul.
It was a tough decision because they wanted to keep the timeouts to stop the clock after they score. Then he thought he could use the challenge after he called the timeout. That was the bad part. He threw the flag AFTER he called TO and you could see him asking if he could use the flag in place of the TO.Wasn't watching, but this sounds pretty bad:

Related: why did Dallas sit Zeke and a bunch of their starting o-line yet leave Dak in for the entire game?Any Coach with nothing on the line, in terms of the Playoffs, did something stupid today, if they didn't treat the game like a preseason game - Evaluate your bench players to see what they're made of in game conditions, and otherwise play for Draft position.
For example, the Cardinals/Seahawks game had absolutely no business coming down to a game-winning field goal with time expiring. Going into that game, the Cards knew...they knew, knew, knew...that if they lost the game, they'd have the overall #1 pick in the 2019 Draft. The outcome of that game should have never been in doubt right from the kickoff, and that directive should have come right from the top, if the Coach couldn't figure it out for himself. Sheesh.
