I'm in an illegal state and I'm paying $175 a 1/2 for the same stuff sold in legal dispensaries. Not happy about it but my options are pretty limited. My dude usually delivers so there's that.

I drove up to the the place in barrington from NJ.   I didn't know this at the time but you can pre-order and skip the line.   The catch is that they only take about 500 preorders a day so you need to be on top of it.  I thought the price was fine.    That's strange that they limit you to an 1/8.  I know the barrington place sometimes puts caps on how much of each strain you can get as well as how many edibles you can get, but an 1/8 total seems odd.

Question for you on the limits. Is this per person, so if you drive up with the wife then you can double order?

Any clue on the edible limits?

 
They put low limits to discourage resellers. I'm lucky the guy with the med card I get my vape from is such a light smoker, he always has an extra one.

I was paying $120 a 1/4, four or 5 years ago in Chicago before I moved to Oregon.  

 
There's definitely been a lot of talk about concentrates, oils and edibles in here lately.   Just wanted to warn fellow FBGs to check their status if you're living in a non legal state.  Crazy that four ounces of flower in Texas is a misdemeanor while a .5g cartridge or a bag of of edible gummies brings a felony charge.    Might as well do heroin.

The state law is 1oz per person per day.  So yes, you can do double up with the wife.     There's a conversion rate for edibles.     I got the tincture and some gummies and each bottle of tincture or container of gummies is the equivalent of an 1/8.   So I go 2 tinctures, 1 gummy and 5/8th's flower.  Each shop will also have its own limits on how much of each product per person.   The place I went to, I can only get 2 tinctures and 1 gummy that day.

I pay between $200 - $220 per oz. Some of my most recent strains:

OG Kush, Gelato, Berry Goo, Cookie Monster, Jager OG, Blue Dream, Headband, Gorilla Glue and Creampie.

Also, I frequently pick up "shake" from the strains listed above (and similar) for $100 / oz. I am not taking about "shake" from whole plant processing, but "shake" from storage by distributors - so it is good bud - but mixed and not as pretty or marketable. I like it just fine when I do not have a particular "need" - since I am never sure of its exact makeup, though I know its basic contributors.

EDIT: Oh, I never buy less than an oz at a time, and I usually buy a larger amount - and my prices are based on that kind of regular volume - plus family generosity. If I were to buy by the 1/4 oz, I estimate I would have to pay about $75 - $85 (again family hospitality helps).

Yep, but it is not yet legal in my state of KY. We should pass a med bill next year; I hope.

I use it for diabetic neuropathy pain, insomnia and balancing bi-polar-like mood cycles.

My doctors monitor my use, and I share all experiences - as cannabis is not widely accepted as a good treatment for mood disorders like bi-polar. It took my doctors a while to evaluate, but they all now support my use. It has done wonders for me.

 
Finally got a hook up!  Wife's friend just gave her/me two rice crispy treats with bso concentrate from a pot store.  Wife says I was told I could only have 1/4 square to start.  Reasonable?

Depends on a lot of variables but that's definitely in range.  I'd say 30 minutes to 2 hours is normal.  An empty stomach will speed up the effects as will a faster metabolism.  Definitely a lot of cases where folks lose patience, ingest more and then locked in to a 'high' they can't escape so always better to proceed with caution if you don't know the dosage.

Joe Rogan talks a lot about how edibles metabolize differently than smoke does. Not sure how true that is and I have not tried flower since rediscovering edibles, but I have found dosage and potency definitely vary.

I’m about 5 months late on this, but I’ve been a Mighty owner for the last year and a half. If you want to vape flower and don’t want to sacrifice quality, this is for you. 

The only downside is the size as mentioned above, but this works well for home or travel use, so long as you don’t need something super discrete for on the go and in public. Just get a disposable pen/cartridge for those instances. 

 
For me, I’ve found that the potency of edibles varies widely not just on the THC/CBD amounts and ratios, but also on the producer and freshness of the edibles.  Older gummies past their “Best Buy” date don’t seem to have the same punch as the same brand with a more recent production date. 

As everyone else has mentioned, better to start low and slow than to bite off more than you can handle. If you’re really impatient, you can always take the edible and smoke/vape immediately after which should get you going long enough until the edible kicks in.

Depends on what you’re doing/mood imo but the best way for me to describe it is “melty”. 

Heavy edibles for me are for getting couchlocked and watching a movie and getting totally immersed ...I can get lost(in a good way) in a movie.

Definitely keep to light edibles in the beginning if you want to be out in public or at parties.

 
i just can't do edibles any more unless I micro-dose 5mg at a time and only during the day.  Don't like that I can't control the beginning or the ending with edibles.

I hadn't really thought about that before, but let me hit that from a different angle. I can take a 10mg edible and be good for hours, or feel it for hours, much longer than I ever had when I smoked many years ago.

Yeah, it's a different game, almost a completely different sport.  I like the 10mg gummies b/c you're still in control.   I tend to reserve the 50-200 mg edibles for long flights or nature trips.  I don't find them very conducive to being a productive member of society.   And if you take too much, a strong coffee will generally helps lighten the effect.

I must be a major pot head (I am) because when I eat edibles I start with 30mgs.  Anything less does essentially nothing for me.  30 mgs will get me nice and buzzed.  A few weekends ago I ate 75 mgs and I was very high but not too high. I don't think there is such a thing as 'too high' for me personally though.  My wife, who is not a pothead, was gifted these pills that are 2.5 mgs each. I ate 10 of them one day to test them out and they did nothing for me either, yet, one of her pothead friends insist they are the best.  I've found that flower is still the end all be all for me.  Edibles are too expensive when you have to eat 30+ mgs to get high and they take too long to kick in. I like the effects but not very cost effective.  Will save for concerts or other things where it's not so easy to just smoke in front of everyone (kids for instance).

This is basically how I always do them. If I'm really looking to get high I smoke.

 
I've been meaning to bring this up but kept forgetting: weed burps . Does this happen to everyone? Just let out a bomb with a big plume of smoke while sitting on the couch, almost five minutes after sneaking outside for a puff. I do this almost every time I smoke and it has nothing to do with carbonation or anything I'm drinking - I'm not drinking anything. I also think it makes me get higher than I would otherwise, with all that smoke hanging in my lungs for bonus time..

eta: though I guess burps are from stomach so smoke is probably from there not lungs

It sounds blike many of these vape health issues could be coming from bad thc vape carts.  At this point they should regulate it and let the fda check these things out.  It's like the wild west out there now.

 
Tried pot for the first time this month at age 44, thought I would share for those considering a first time experience.

Started with 5mg edible. A nice calm but not much else. 

Tried 10mg next. A good buzz like the early stages of being drunk, and it lasted a few hours so that was nice. Didn’t feel high though. Or at least what I was expecting to feel like. I do drink a lot so maybe my body is used to being buzzed. 

The next weekend I took 5mg edible and smoked as well.  Now we are talking. I wasn’t flying, but definitely a nice buzz better than booze.

I can see taking 10mg a few weekdays as being a good alternative to crushing a bunch of beer.  Will definitely be looking to smoke when I want more of a buzz.

and your job requires you to be MJ free? Driving a school bus or operating machinery or something?

Sound like you will need to give up one or the other ...
