Presidential Debate Thread - Obama vs. Romney (5 Viewers)

I am bored silly by Obama. If I am bored silly by this wonkish lecture, and his refusal to rebut specifics, i.e. lies, he's in trouble.

Obama is best when he runs out the clock! I guess when you are winning you just let Romney punch himself out.
I'm watching on CNN with the split screen and Mitt looks non-presidential when he's not speaking. The look on his face is annoying.
:goodposting: He must have campaign managers that worked on that. He's probably trying to look respectful, but it comes across as a forced smirk.

Obama = 1-term president
Is one term 8 years now? Romney is doing okay tonight, but traditionally the challenger does very well in the first debate. However, what he's not doing tonight is coming across as a guy anyone would like to have a drink with. He's failing to connect with anyone. He's also stated multiple items that either don't make sense ("I won't cut any taxes that raise the deficit") and hasn't brought up any significant talking points that would influence independents. He's in attack mode and sounds more like a campaign stop than an case to be president. Winning the battle tonight thus far but he's going to lose the war of the election if something significant doesn't go his way.
So this is the standard now?

Romney looking good to me....of course when listening to Obama you have to try to hear him over the sound of the reality of where we are under his administration in America.

Obama and Romney's deliveries project completely differently...

One thing I'm noticing in the debate: Not only does Romney seem much more prepared, he also seems much more fluent and projectable in his responses.

Obama, on the other hand, seems stammery, sloppy and choppy. Almost like a guy who crammed to memorize his play lines the night before the show.

The media announced Obama as the winner 2 weeks ago in the polls which was done to suppress people from getting out and voting.
Why do people say dumb things like this?
Florida took a hard right when they elected Rick Scott 2 years ago, suddenly this state is wrapped up for Obama which is nuts. You can say the statement is dumb if you like, but again that sounds like a post to just shut the poster up. Instead of saying it's dumb, why don't you make a valid point of your own rather than put the poster(me) down here?

I find it puzzling that he couldn't at least throw out some talking points. It's like he is totally unprepared.

Halfway through (watching on DVR). I haven't read the thread. But I'm a Democrat.

So far - Romney is smoking Obama. He's just better so far.

Obama playing it safe. He's losing though. Does it matter? I'm guessing most have turned to Honey Boo Boo by now...
The debate is only the first half. Swing voters are just as likely to make up their minds from the media coverage over the next few days. Think Al Gore sighing. Romney's "winning" by laying down some real whoppers, especially on taxes. The press hasn't really had alot of patience with this from him this year.
Yeah, he's making a lot of grand statements that "should" be questioned over the next few days. We'll see how that pans out.

Main thing I am taking away from this debate on Obama's side: he should go back to community organizing. Its clearly his passion and a great career path for him.

MoP: it's just conspiracy theory silliness. You are giving the media WAY too much credit - they are populated by morons who print whatever will sell a story. Don't give them so much credit - it's like people who think the federal govt can cover up Roswell...the govt isn't that competent, and neither is the media.

I've been hesitating on my support for Romney but he's really selling me tonight. He's hit on nearly all the main reasons that I supported him over Obama in the first place. I'm feeling much better about him,

This is really the first time Obama has had to run on his record...this is foreign territory for him and he's just uncomfortable tonight...the talking points/pie-in-the-sky stories that he has used in the past don't wash when you have four years of reality that tell another story...
