Presidential Debate Thread - Obama vs. Romney (3 Viewers)

Obama had a chance to wrap it up tonight. Instead he let Romney make up some ground. Still a lead for Obama, but Romney will have the momentum tomorrow.

Nice to see Romney campaign as the moderate who successfully governed Massachusetts and not as the wingnut who won the nomination

Romney isn't doing bad, both guys are laying out their points pretty well.

Romney is still a robot though, it's to painful watch him pretend that an idea just came to him.

The media announced Obama as the winner 2 weeks ago in the polls which was done to suppress people from getting out and voting.
Why do people say dumb things like this?
Florida took a hard right when they elected Rick Scott 2 years ago, suddenly this state is wrapped up for Obama which is nuts. You can say the statement is dumb if you like, but again that sounds like a post to just shut the poster up. Instead of saying it's dumb, why don't you make a valid point of your own rather than put the poster(me) down here?
Florida is not "wrapped up for Obama" by a longshot, but it makes perfect sense. People got a dose of how the Tea Party wants to govern and they figured out they don't like it.

He literally just doesn't get it. You can't create jobs for the long-haul by spending taxpayer money. It makes zero sense.
So you think that if we hadn't fought WWII the economy the past 65+ years would be exactly the same?
That's the reality that noone wants to acknowledge. The past 60 years of prosperity were a bubble that was funded by the Federal Government.
So just to be clear: are both of you proposing a further inflation of a bubble? The inevitable outcome will be to create another Rome.

Halfway through (watching on DVR). I haven't read the thread. But I'm a Democrat. So far - Romney is smoking Obama. He's just better so far.
Much smoother and better prepared than Obama so far. What is shocking is that Obama is totally lacking his charisma factor tonight and is stammering.

Obama and Romney's deliveries project completely differently...One thing I'm noticing in the debate: Not only does Romney seem much more prepared, he also seems much more fluent and projectable in his responses. Obama, on the other hand, seems stammery, sloppy and choppy. Almost like a guy who crammed to memorize his play lines the night before the show.
Turns out one of these guys has a semi important day job.

Wow I really was looking for a good performance from Obama, he seems lost. Mitt is beating him like a government mule.

This is really the first time Obama has had to run on his record...this is foreign territory for him and he's just uncomfortable tonight...the talking points/pie-in-the-sky stories that he has used in the past don't wash when you have four years of reality that tell another story...
Very good poasting

No one said FL is wrapped up, the latest poll is like a point or two. His point was that the notion that all the polls, including Fox News, is in on a conspiracy to inflate Obama's numbers to depress voting is patently ridiculous. And he is correct to call to point that out.

Who in the world prepped Obama for this debate? This is ridiculous! I am a very strong Obama supporter and he looked like a pot of cold #### tonight! OOF

I've been hesitating on my support for Romney but he's really selling me tonight. He's hit on nearly all the main reasons that I supported him over Obama in the first place. I'm feeling much better about him,
He did a decent job presenting himself as a idea guy.

Obama got off to a slow start because he had to mention his anniversary as to transparently woo female voters. Since when does that work anyway? He should have come out attacking, instead he makes a joke about being married 20 years and gets hammered right away. Someone better tell the guy to start throwing some uppercuts before we're all screwed.

I generally don't care for it when people dogpile on you around here but as much as you follow politics, it's ridiculous that one debate performance would affect your vote.

Oh yeah I forgot the campaigner-in-chief has to get in his rounds of golf...

MoP: it's just conspiracy theory silliness. You are giving the media WAY too much credit - they are populated by morons who print whatever will sell a story. Don't give them so much credit - it's like people who think the federal govt can cover up Roswell...the govt isn't that competent, and neither is the media.
Thanks, got it.

It's not as simple as let it pop or keep inflating it. Which side do you think would do a better job of slowly letting the air out?

attending fundraisers?

I am bored silly by Obama. If I am bored silly by this wonkish lecture, and his refusal to rebut specifics, i.e. lies, he's in trouble.
Serious question, do you think Romney is across the board on the up and up if you think Obama is a liar? What are your thoughts about the "we won't let this campaign be dictated by fact checkers" quote...

You're better than this

very , very good night for Mitt tonight but he has 2 other tough battles to go with Obama & I'm sure Obama will bring the ruckus one of the next 2

Romney wins the debate hands down, not sure it shifts the dynamics of the election that much but I can't see how any neutral person calls this anything but a win for Mitt.
