We did a thread on these digital pad locks before, but they've really come in handy for me. So convenient.

what's the install like on these?
I've done it on three different doors just fine. All you need to know.
He replaced the keyed locks on his car with a combination lock as well.

If I locked my door, I'd certainly buy one of them. Do they make one that opens using a key fob as well? I'd prefer the convenience of a key fob with the option to key a code in case you didn't have the fob with you or to give out temporary codes to others.
There are versions available from kwikset that connect to wifi and allow you to open them from a smartphone.
Would be cool if it could use nfc to lock/unlock.

Starting to rethink the shave secret.

1. Yes, it is a noticeably closer shave, but the improvement I got switching from my Mach 3 to the Shick! Hydro 5 with electric vibrating goodness was a more noticeable improvement. Plus I'm not convinced that the oil doesn't give a false sense of closeness.

2. I think it might clog my blades fast, and that's going to be a deal breaker for me.

Anyone else have this clogging issue with the Shave Secret?

Oh yeah, the Shick! is the schnizzle. I believe in that product.
I have a clogging issue with SS. I used the product twice and shelved it. I somehow cut myself on both shaves too, which I rarely ever do. Based on the unanimously awesome reviews here, I chalked it up to my own user error and moved on.
Not really seeing this one either. Getting just as much irritation as I do without using a shave oil. May have to go back to expensive Truefitt Shave Oil, Will up the amount and see how it goes.

I do use a double edge shave with Feather blades. If you grow a thick beard and shave each day, like I do, Feather really cuts that #### down.
Second that on the feathers. I use porarso and the feathers in a Merkur 34c. So sick of buying Mach 5's.I have some new cream on the way so we shall see how that goes.
Prorarso is my standard as well. Taylor of Old Bond St is good, but not twice as good.
So do you think prorarso is better than old bond?

Agree about safety razor, so tired of paying for. Mach 5. invested in a merkur and love the shave I get.
First shave with the TOBs but I will give it a few more tries before I think I will know. What blades do you use?

Old Bond is better, but I don't think the gap is worth the extra price.

I love the smell of old bond, the black canned stuff. I think the blade I use is feather. I can't believe how good a shave I get at a fraction of the cost. If you haven't tried it yet try using cold water. Even better shave.

Keyport Key Chain - A bit of a pain to get the actual keys made (you have to go to an actual locksmith not Lowes etc) but once you do these things are great.

Tommy John Underwear - I use to be a huge believer in the exofficio brand but after a year of those and switching over to the TJ's for a year it's not even close. TJ's are the greatest underwear ever
Do they come with a free elbow surgery?

8 cartridges = $21. No.
They last a couple months if you dry the blades after each shave. YMMV

I like the Cremo shaving cream referenced in here. Using Dorco blades (they supply Dollar Shave Club but you can buy direct) and a good shave.

If I make sure to dry the blade after using I am getting 5-7 shaves out of each blade.
Not a specific product, but you can get way more shaves out of each blade by doing this:

Tried that once, didn't work for ####. The comments in this post are people saying they sharpen their blades on their forearm. :lmao: Has to be shtick.

I am looking for a good radio alarm clock. Product placements welcomed.
Suggest Atomic time setting magic powers and focus on easy to hit snooze button.

My clock has these two features now. I just prefer listening to the radio than hitting snooze 5 times before I get out of bed. I want something simple and compact... not annoying crap like the ones in this video:

That's pretty sweet. But what happens if you leave your phone in the house?

I shave my head at least every other day and here's my system:

- hot shower to soften the hair

- Cremo

- shave with cold water

- the one thing I don't do that I should is add a drop of mineral oil after

My Fusion blades last a long time this way.

I've tried both the cremo cream and the shave secret, and while both are okay, neither made as big of an improvement as this (for me). It keeps the blade as good as new for at least a month, and the only reason it isn't longer is because the strip wears out before the blade does.

I use a DE razor too. I use platinum Astra blades and they give me a close shave. I think a hundred blades cost me $10 on Amazon. I swap a new blade every week. I prefer Proraso soap and switched over to a cold water shave maybe a year ago. I can't imagine going back to cartridge blades.

I do this.. but it isn't sharpening. Smoothing would be a better way to describe it. Run it a dozen times or so over hair on forearm.

Works pretty well.

6 weeks on current blade.

Smoothing what exactly?

Just did some research. Unbelievably, using your forearm for stropping your razor is a real thing.

Sounds like a type of stroping, more commonly done with leather or denim.
According to this, it seems like stroping is best done before use. The site recommended before and after but if you are going to do one it's better before:

Dave Martell, who is one of the best sharpening specialists in the US, recommends stropping over steeling, whenever conditions and environment permit. Pro-kitchen may not be the place to do regular stropping for example. However, as you can guess, stropping will achieve the same aligning effect, plus remove any loose/weak particles from the edge. In other words, it's a more effective way to maintain the edge.

Another note from Dave: On softer knives post (or after) use steeling doesn't have good effect due to the metal relaxation or memory effect. In simple words, deformed metal, the edge in our case, tends to go back to the deformed state over time, when left alone, aligning the edge before its use, doesn't give the edge time to go back to its deformations. Thus, steeling(better yet, stropping) before the use is the best way.

According to other sources, post steeling still can have positive effect, minimizing the size/magnitude of the deformations. Complicated matter :) For harder Japanese knives, the effects of post steeling aren't as simple compared to softer western knives.

Looking for a good beach chair recommendation.

A) I'm not looking for some gigantic recliner monstrosity

B) I hate the chairs that pinch up and slide in those over the shoulder bags

Would like a recommendation for a non-mounted bike rack. Highway driving, usually either one adult bike or two kids bikes, never really more than 2 adult bikes. Something I can put on back of my Accord.

Someone tell me about dishwashers.

Not going to be in this house forever so looking for cheap ($3-450 range ideally) but decent quality stainless setup.

Any brands or features to run away/toward. Signed: guy who's never had to buy one before but the 15yo contractor installed model just #### the bed.

I like the Bosch models (not sure if that os the brand in the US). You can get them ultra quiet <42db

For that price, go get a whirlpool. You won't get an "upper tier" one for that price.

Low end Bosch. Isn't much more than other brands and will have more prestige value when you sell. Should be able to get one under $600.

Just picked up a Tommy Bahama from Costco. I just tried it out in the basement, but it seems pretty nice. And like always, if at any point you're not happy with it, lifetime returns.

So, what the FFA is telling you, [icon], is that you can't get a dishwasher that's worth a #### for $450.

The Bosch Ascenta series is highly rated by Consumer Reports but is closer to $6-700 than your price range. Whirlpool did ok around $500.

$539 on sale at Lowe's

Just buy something really nice and if you move in the near future, take it with you and put the broken one back in.

Have a higher end Bosch for 5+ years now. Super quiet. Highly recommend it.

But it's not in the $400 price range but worth a mention in this thread.

Waze is good stuff. Been using it the last few days to get around Dallas and I'm becoming a believer. Everyone should be using this app for navigation imo. The more the better!

Sometimes I ignore it if it seems it's taking me way out of the way, then I curse myself for doing so. It's still not perfect, though. I ignored it pulling out of my driveway this morning, and it instantly shaved 4 minutes off my drive time.

Good feedback guys, thanks. The universal love for Bosch, coupled with the Consumer reports deal has me leaning this way. With that price + 10% coupon should be a no brainer ($485 + tax). Thanks.

Get married
Might as well be (13yrs). She's handwashing stuff right now but I can tell that's going to last about a week before I start feeling the heat. This project is on fast track I believe.

Just saved $36 off the face value of 6 tickets to a local amusement park

For anyone looking to add a little health kick to your weekly routine...

Ninja Ultima BL800 (I got the base model - on Amazon for $145) - 1/3 the price of a Vitamix and every bit as powerful. This thing is a tank and sounds like an airplane taking off, but it will blend the #### out of anything you put in it. No fiberous strings in your smoothie.

Ball 16oz Plastic Freezer Jars

Make a big batch of smoothies (bananas/berries/kale/yogurt/almond milk) on the weekend and fill 8 of these jars and pop them in the freezer. Wife and I take one each day to work. Super healthy, kinda filling and doesnt taste too bad.

Found the coupon. I'm in. Started with a stainless farmhouse sink, added two stainless freezerless fridges... then used double sided tape to stick a stainless panel to my old dishwasher. :bag:
