Punt and Kickoff Returners 2009 (1 Viewer)

Witherspoon's departure should make Mike Thomas an excellent option at WR, facing two high powered offenses in the next couple of weeks (IND and NE).

Do we know fo sure that Mike Thomas will take both KR/PR or just one or the other and is he a great option against IND seeing that Royal was limited last week with the kicker making it in the endzone most of the time.

Does anyone know where you can find stats on Kickers as far as how many times they have gotten touchbacks and attempts and such. Just looking for an easy way to find better numbers to evaluate returners against certain teams. Any help would be appreciated.

Getting dizzy just trying to follow...could you puncuate it up a bit next time?
JdR has used one guy or another (Thomas or 'spoon) for all returns every game since Week 5 (except last week - MJD took 2 PRs)
Regardless of TBs, Indy has given up the 13th most yards in KRs - so I would say Thomas is a decent option

I'm currently watching the game (Colts/Jags). Jones-Drew has returned 2 kickoffs. Mike Thomas, only 1. Chad Simpson just returned a 93 yard kickoff for a TD.

UPDATE: I think Jones-Drew and Thomas are alternating kick returns.

Cribbs! TWO touchdown kick returns this game...setting a new NFL record for kick returns. 7 was the record. He set that, then broke it. He now has 8.

When do they announce the Pro Bowl teams?

I'm sure Harvin (2 KR TDs) will get a lot of hype, ditto for DeSean (2 PR TDs), but Amendola did it again today: 171 yards on 6 returns today, including a 55 yarder. He also caught their only offensive TD.

No return TDs but the guy is productive every week - 1643 total return yards on the year, 2nd only to Cribbs. AND HE WASN'T ROSTERED THE FIRST TWO WEEKS!

Prolly won't happen because he hasn't scored on special teams or racked up a gaudy average, but he's been :goodposting:

(ASIDE - yes, I'm going to the FF SB because of him)

also Hixon is ranked 6th in return yards (and didn't play for like 6 games)

If anyone finds out if Figurs or Huggins is returning for TB, please post on here any info you find. I would love to start either one against NO.

I'm on that like white on rice. This is the semi-finals in my league and I just dropped Stroughter and someone else and picked up Huggins and Figurs just in case. LOL!

The Bucs brought back a familiar face to return kicks in their final two games. Tampa Bay signed WR Micheal Spurlock and cut WR Yamon Figurs. Spurlock returned the first kick for a touchdown in franchise history in 2007. Spurlock replaces Sammie Stroughter and Clifton Smith who are on injured reserve. Link

Anyone heard if Jamaal Charles will be back on kickoffs this week? He appeared to be pulled last week for Bradley because of his integral part in the offense. But with Bradley cut I have hopes that Jamaal gets to return some kicks this week. In my league that moves him from a so-so matchup against Cincy to mega-stud.

Despite the previous update..."Morris indicated rookie RB Kareem Huggins will get first shot at handling return duties Sunday at New Orleans." Link

They just re-signed Quinten Lawrence (for the unteeneth time), so I'm sure they're gonna use him (again) as the primary KR/PR since Charles is the New LJ in KC. Link

Is Josh Morgan primary KR for SF?

Anyone know this? I have to decide between Harvin and Morgan.

As far as I know, Morgan is still the man. But if you have Harvin, I would play him instead. Vikings are still playing towards something, Niners aren't, plus Niners are playing Detroit (with a 2nd string QB), so I don't expect them (Det) to score and kickoff alot.

Anyone think Cribbs will do good at returning, or get very many chances facing Oakland. I would like to think he would or am I wishful thinking.

Oakland did say in a press conference that they are gonna challenge Cribbs and not kick away, but they are known for kicking touchbacks, and fairly good special teams coverage. Link Cribbs may not take one to the house, but I expect him to do fairly good.

Who is returning kicks for Philly today? Demps, Harris, ...?

Is Witherspoon gonna return kicks for Detroit today?
As far as Philly, I would assume so. As far as Detroit, yes, Witherspoon is the guy. Derrick Williams has been benched. Link
"...assume so"?Which guy will return kicks for Philly? Anyone know?

Thanks for info on Witherspoon. Plugging him in now. ;)
Lol! Sorry for not finishing my thought. I just read that Demps may not play today because of a high ankle sprain, and being that Philly is in the playoffs, I doubt if they're gonna risk playing their best kick return guy, so they say rookie Victor Harris may start in his place. Usually I would have a link for this info, but my computer is not cooperating with me. Google Demps and look in the news section.

Is it too early to request a 2010 thread?

I'm especially interested in potential rookie starter/returners at WR, RB & DB.
