Puzzle (1 Viewer)

This puzzle was in a journal of a group I belong to.  I haven't done it yet but typically their puzzles are good.  There was a problem copying it over but I think I fixed the typos.

Corporate Ladder

The corporate ladder is not easy to climb, however in Hippie land it is. Each of 12 people were on their way up. In Hippie land everyone gets to be in each spot for one day and then they move one space up. When they hit the top, the next day they are on the bottom om — makes them think about their actions as they are quickly subject to them. Not a bad idea.

Can you figure out who is in each level for today?

The males include Chris, David, Eric, George, Josh, Tom and William. The Females are Chelsea, Christine, Nina, Sharon and Sherry.

1 is ahead or earlier or higher than 2. 2 came in later than 1, 2 is after 1. Think of it as a race.

The clothing included Red, Green, Black, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Polka Dots and White T-Shirts a Tank Top, Cape and a Bikini.

1. Chelsea, not in a Blue Shirt, did not come in 1st and Sharon came in 2 positions later than her. Sharon wears a Yellow Shirt.

2. Sherry in her Bikini came in 3 positions later than Nina who is not in a Red-Shirt.

3. Josh did not come in 1st but did come in 3 positions earlier than David in his Tank Top.

4. Christine came in between Chris and Josh. e Pink Shirt, Green Shirt, Cape and Purple Shirt all were 2 numbers apart, they are in the order of their nish, with the Pink Shirt nishing the highest of this pack.

5. Tom came in 3 positions later than George. Starting at some location, the one wearing the Polka Dots came in ahead of the following, the Red shirt, then Sharon, then the White Shirt came in 4 numbers later. Chelsea came in right before the Red shirt.

6. Tom is not next to a Blue-Shirt nor does he wear one. Chelsea does not wear Polka-Dots

7. David did not come in before the Purple Shirt but he did come in right  after William.

8. Chris came in after Eric.

I got a steroid injection in my spine a few hours ago.   My head just isn't right.   I forgot all about copy paste.  And I'm sweating.

The answer is Nina.

She takes off her blue shirt and pink bikini bottoms and comes in 5 positions. Then she makes you a sandwich and calls you ‘Papi’. The sandwich is really, really good. What is that, Miracle Whip? That’s a good sandwich, Nina.

If this an example of a job interview question from your Goldman Sachs days, then the answer is always "lie to them and ####'em in the ###."

...so I'll go with that.

1. George - Polka Dots

2. Eric - Pink

3. Chelsea - Black

4. Tom - Red

5. Sharon - Yellow

6. Chris - Green

7. Christine - Blue

8. Josh - Cape

9. Nina - White

10. Wiliam - Purple

11. David - Tank Top

12. Sherry - Bikini

loved these as a kid, although mostly too lazy to complete or start doing them again.

I'm not entirely unconvinced that there's a missing line or typo in the transcription that is keeping me stymied.
Yeah I just started over from scratch and ran into contradictions.  Two parts that I'm possibly misinterpreting:

"Christine came in between Chris and Josh."  I assumed this meant directly between, in sequential order, but I suppose it might mean they came in 1st, 3rd and 5th or something like that.

"Starting at some location, the one wearing the Polka Dots came in ahead of the following, the Red shirt, then Sharon, then the White Shirt came in 4 numbers later."  4 numbers later than what?  I assumed it meant 4 numbers later than Sharon, but maybe I'm misreading it.

When I get back to my hotel, I will double check that everything got copied over properly.

2nd attempt:

1. Eric - Polka Dots

2. Chelsea - Black

3. Chris - Red

4. Sharon - Yellow

5. George - Pink

6. Christine - Blue

7. Nina - Green

8. Tom - White

9. Josh - Cape

10. Sherry - Bikini

11. William - Purple

12. David - Tank Top

For some reason I had ruled that person out as a possibility for the first slot.  Not sure why now, but it sunk me.

I agree that some of the wording is an issue.

4. Christine came in between Chris and Josh.  Is that in a row?  Is it possible it could be Josh ahead of Christine and Chris.  It doesn't say.
7. David ... right after William.  <<<< this is specific, which leads me to not assume on the others.
8. Chris came in after Eric.   <<< does not say right after.

Good stuff
