All one has to read when considering the validity of McGinn's take is that he says that even if Rodgers comes back, he will be the backup to Jordan Love.McGinn used to be great. He had a decent network of scouts where he got most of his information. Problem is, I think most have moved on and he doesn't have the sources he once did. While he has always been pretty critical...lately it almost seems as if he is just angry and yeah has an axe to grind with Rodgers from very early on. Not sure the last time he got something right.
I listened to the entire 51 minute podcast earlier today so you don’t have to. I’m a big fan of McGinn but would warn anyone reading a summary of his comments to take it with a massive grain of salt. He’s clearly obsessed and has a major axe to grind with Rodgers. He talks about a source for this but uses some cagey words and admits it’s also just his gut feeling. He goes through every single season ending game and details how poorly Rodgers played (other than the superbowl win which he says was Rodgers best game and one of the best ever superbowl QB performances.) Just as an example, he derisIvely mocks the suggestion that Rodgers is a first ballot HoF player. He also says if Rodgers comes back and collects the $60m first day cash he would still be the backup to Love this season. Bob is 70 years old, long retired and hasn’t been a credentialed beat reporter for probably at least a decade.
If I were Rodgers I would say they all can kiss my arse. He’s earned that. His attitude could use adjustment if even a fraction of what’s being said is true.I didn’t think he needed fixing.
Rodgers was MVP 2 times since Love was drafted. It's time to move on. It was time when they drafted Love. You make a move like that you live with it good or bad but instead they milked the whole situation and doubled down on their mistake and here we are. How many years can Rodgers give? Who is going to take on the contract and what kind of trade value can you get the bottom line it's time to move on.

Oh fair enough, misread that. Yeah GB operates a little differently than other teams, maybe due to it being publicly owned? I dunno, but with that said NOW is the time you must make the move or you're gonna be stuck w ZERO QBs.Rodgers was MVP 2 times since Love was drafted. It's time to move on. I think he's referring to the wasting of Love's rookie contract. They did the same thing with Dillon, Jones has had 2 contract extensions since they drafted Dillon. Now if Rogers leaves, the Packers have one year of Love before needing to extend him and really didn't get much of the benefit of having quality QB play on a rookie contract. Which admittedly might not have happened anyway, but that's usually what a team is hoping for when they draft a QB in the first.
Yeah the whole point of rookie contracts is getting cheap starters so you can afford other players. GB seems to love overlapping players, even going back to Favre/Rodgers.I think he's referring to the wasting of Love's rookie contract. A first-round pick to sit? One year maybe and that is questionable. The point is you decided to move on when you made the pick. There is no way I can be convinced they drafted Love to sit him. They wanted to groom Love one season and Rodger's won the MVP and took them to the NFC championship and they felt like they might have been a bit quick on sending Rodgers packing. It's too late at that point. Trade him then and get more value for him. I would not trade for Rodgers myself. He is too expensive. He is a headache to deal with. He is getting old. You are going to have to replace him and rebuild soon enough. A big pass for me. I suppose if you have a lame-duck QB and you think you have a super bowl team just missing only the QB then maybe but not for me. I do not see a team in that situation that can afford him. The Jets think they are that type of team. I do not feel that way but you never know. They basically MOVED up in the first round to groom Love for another team if they do not move on from Rodgers. It's a cluster-buster of a situation and Love is ready for the Packers or another team.Rodgers was MVP 2 times since Love was drafted. It's time to move on. It was time when they drafted Love. Right, I mean the Packers were 26-6 with Rodgers starting in 20-21.Rodgers was MVP 2 times since Love was drafted. It's time to move on. It was time when they drafted Love. Is the NFC Championship Game meaningful?I wouldnb't go to SF because Shanny jr can't win a damn meaningful game never has never will.
Imagine Green Bay with all that draft capital from Denver had they traded Rodgers last year instead of Denver ending up with second choice Wilson? They had Love already and could have put some very nice pieces around him with those picks.
ESPN's Xuan Thai reports Aaron Rodgers has returned from his "darkness retreat".
Scott Berman, the owner of Sky Cave Retreats in southern Oregon, reported to Thai that Rodgers left the facilities on Wednesday. Ordinarily, this would be non-news, but Rodgers is on record saying he hopes to have a decision on his playing future soon after the conclusion of his retreat. With the Packers reportedly ready to move on from Rodgers, and several teams interested in acquiring him, it seems unlikely Rodgers will be playing in Green Bay in 2023. However, before any trades can be entertained, Rodgers first needs to confirm his intent to play next season. The 39-year-old quarterback is entertained retirement over the last several offseasons, but it wouldn't surprise anybody if he opts to return for another run.

Kids these days don't commit to darkness retreats like they used to. 4 days huh....ESPN's Xuan Thai reports Aaron Rodgers has returned from his "darkness retreat".

12 more months of no Super Bowl.Remind me again about what happens if he emerges from his darkness retreat and sees his shadow? Six more weeks of figuring it out?

Raise your hand if you don't care about this blackout retreat, don't think it's nearly as crazy or interesting or funny as some people do, and are a bit concerned by how people are worked up about it.

The room in which Aaron Rodgers spent his time is a partially underground, Hobbit-like structure with 300 square feet of space, devoid of light, with a queen bed, a bathroom and a meditation-like mat on the floor
You're absolutely right of course, maybe I was surprised how many viewed it negatively. That's definitely tied into how punch-able Aaron Rodgers is.It did interest me and to the point, and I'm sure a lot of people did this, I got to reading and watching about it. Not crazy at all but when a famous multiple MVP QB is taking psychedelic fueled trips to Peru and sitting in a dark hut for a few days it's off the norm.
Classic. After reading what it was like, it made me think he decided on the Jets and just wanted to get used to living in a NYC apartment.

Especially when it seems he's putting off the notion when he comes out of his darkness he'll be making a decision. Seems almost white smokeish.
Rodgers attitude does rub me the wrong way but frankly I'm a little envious he has the means to take these journey's to explore and open up his mind.
Give him another month to think about itRemind me again about what happens if he emerges from his darkness retreat and sees his shadow? Six more weeks of figuring it out?
Sounds like a California thing in Oregon.
Am I the only person that didn't realize Arron Rodgers was a ZERO star recruit out of HS? Just saw that he played for Butte College before going to Cal.
Them and me both! I’m waiting to know before offering the Love owner some draft picks.

Cmon Aaron, tick tock, pal!
Early on in his career I had a Butte Community College Tshirt I had ordered after he was drafted.Am I the only person that didn't realize Arron Rodgers was a ZERO star recruit out of HS? Just saw that he played for Butte College before going to Cal.
The only reason I knew that is he's been saying "Butte Community College" in the network position announcement vids for years now.
Based on the most recent interview, the beat writer (Zach Jacobson) now says he believes it will be a return to the packers or retirement.Them and me both! I’m waiting to know before offering the Love owner some draft picks.

For what its worth, highly regarded Packers beat writer Tom Silverstein has more or less gone all-in on his expectation that Love will start for the Packers next season. But of course one never knows for certain with this ####-show.
Silverstein: There's no mistaking it, the Packers are trying to move on from Aaron Rodgers
The Packers dead money charge would jump from $40 million this year to $60 million if they move on from QB Aaron Rodgers next offseason.
The Packers would need to restructure Rodgers if he returns. Green Bay's contract with Rodgers was made to be trade friendly, giving them an option clause that can be exercised before the start of the year. With Jordan Love in the final year of his rookie deal and a massive 2024 dead cap charge, a Rodgers trade this offseason is the most likely outcome. Rodgers returning in 2023 may force the Packers to trade Love.

Yeah he's not retiring and leaving that money on the table - and although it's 100% just speculation/opinion on my end, I don't see an ego-maniac like Rodgers wanting to go into the Hall of Fame in the same class as Tom Brady. It would be considered "Brady's class".And since I agree with those who’ve said he won’t walk away from 50 million dollars (because who would)
