QB Aaron Rodgers, PIT (3 Viewers)

Speaking Monday, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said the team was "still collecting all the information" on Aaron Rodgers' knee injury, and it was uncertain if he would start Week 2.

"I know Aaron wants to play and is always driven to play but that's all I have right now," McCarthy said. Rodgers himself has insisted he will start against the Vikings. Speaking with NBC after Sunday night's stunning comeback, however, Rodgers did allude to there being actual damage in his knee. The medical staff simply determined he could not make it worse. Ultimately, it's difficult to envision Rodgers sitting after he came back and dismantled the Bears.

No doubt he will play, but I am concerned about his mobility. A big reason what makes Aaron Aaron.
Limited mobility for 3-4 weeks. He'll move better than he did in the second half yesterday but will still be ginger on that leg. But he'll have a week of practice to figure out what he can and can't do; as long as he doesn't re-injure it he'll be fine for fantasy purposes.

He'll throw on a brace and still be more mobile than Dan Marino was during his entire HOF career. And oh by the way, Rodgers is a pretty darn amazing thrower from the pocket as well.

in fact, I bet the offense gets more dangerous due to the shorter patterns that will have to be run, playing to the strengths of their WRs.

I wouldn't mind seeing him sit out a week or two to get right. It's a long season.
Packer fan and I'd rather he sits 4 weeks and we start 2-3 then have him 100% the rest of the season.

I'm pretty sure Cobb (emergency QB) could pilot them to a win against Buffalo week 3. That team is soooo bad.

The problem with that is that the regular season's too short and the NFC is too tough this year. Even the teams supposed to be among the cellar-dwellers (TB, NYG, SEA) mainly held their own yesterday. Even if they thought sitting A-Rod would ultimately maximize their odds of making the SB (and who knows, maybe it would), can you imagine McCarthy trying to justify the decision after the fact if they sat Rodgers for 2 weeks and then missed the playoffs by a game?

Extremely valid counterpoints and impossible to say which is the right call right now. The other side of the coin is can you imagine if they play him and the Vikings completely wreck the knee as a result of limited mobility? What if that ends his season or even worse, what if it causes some sort of career debilitation? Tough tough call for a team that is almost surely going to be in the playoff hunt if Rodgers gets healthy. I side on protecting the $33 MM QB, even if it ultimately costs them a playoff spot somehow. But I can see the other side of it, too.

We'll see. No doubt Rodgers can be successful if he's forced to remain in the pocket more with the injury/less mobility.

But as @zamboni points out -- as well as those great Next Gen powered by AWS stats showed during the game -- Rodgers' mobility has always been key to his and the team's success. They showed that when he has the ball for 4 seconds or more after the snap, he becomes all-worldly. His ability to extend the play with his feet, combined with his amazing accuracy and strength with the ball while on the run, is without a doubt a key contributor.

Without this, I doubt that the offense becomes more dangerous as opposed to leaning towards being more one-dimensional in having to be more pocket focused, which takes away a big driver of Rodgers' success.

Im still amazed this guy threw for almost 300 yards in one half on one leg.
Aaron Rodgers is like Mike Trout. I started off being amazed by what he could do that no one else could. After a few years I stopped being being surprised. And at this point ... I kind of expect it.

If Bill Belichick were the HC of the Packers instead of the Pats, their 2010s would have been the NFL's equivalent of the Golden State Warriors.

Aaron Rodgers (questionable, knee) practiced Saturday.

Although Rodgers took part in practice, there's no guarantee he plays. He'll reportedly be evaluated in the morning to see how his knee responds. It's a significant step in the right direction as Rodgers has (slowly) progressed throughout the week. We expect he'll play in an important division matchup in Week 2 against the Vikings.

Did you see the play? It looked really bad.  250 lbs of linebacker came down sideways on his knee.

You're not giving him enough credit with comments like this ... he is seriously injured and balled out. Give him credit.

In most cases I say you should start him.  However, I am benching him in two leagues, one with Watson and the other with Newton.  If he had a cupcake defense facing him I would probably have gone with Rodgers in those two leagues as well.

Aaron Rodgers - QB -  Packers

Aaron Rodgers is wearing a "large brace" on his left knee during warmups.

Rodgers did not wear a brace after returning to the game last week, but The Athletic's Michael Cohen writes he is wearing one which "looks like the kind of thing offensive linemen wear" during warmups this week. Even if he is able to gut it out all game, Rodgers' mobility will be a concern against Minnesota's defensive front.

Planning to move on from ARod, can't stant those 250\1-2 per game. Starting to be more of a game manager...

Gonna try to get Geoff (owner is last) for ARod and a 1st in a keeper league.

Rodgers needs to take it down a little bit. He needs to start with himself, missing WRs and being 13th in the league in passing and 17th in TDs. I am not a fan of paying players a lot of money in sports, call me old fashioned and when players paid like him are performing like he does he needs to keep this stuff in house. He better come out and perform if he is gonna run his mouth and not throw 1 TD and have 2 turnovers regardless of outcome of game. When you are making that money, you dont get to have days like that on home field bad knee or not, if you are hurt take a seat, if not then life up to what you are making.

Was able to move Rodgers, Hilton and a 4th for Cousins and Thielen and a 7th. I'm elated.

Aaron Rodgers (knee) has resumed practicing in full.

Rodgers figures to still get slapped with "limited" tags on Wednesdays, but it's another positive step forward in his recovery. Although still clearly not 100 percent healthy, Rodgers looked more mobile in Week 4. His concern for Week 5 is the potential absence of his top-three receivers. If each of Davante Adams (calf), Geronimo Allison (concussion) and Randall Cobb (hamstring) sits against the Lions, Rodgers will be a back-end QB1.

To be fair, he's still not 100% and his receiving weapons are nothing like years past, but it's seeming more and more that Rodgers' greatness has devolved into very-goodness.

I've thought the same thing when watching him lately. He's definitely 'lost a step'
