QB Baker Mayfield, TB (3 Viewers)

Slept through the first quarter and made a pair of bad throws to a wide open Egbuka that would have been big gains. I guess he hit the smelling salts or someone said something to him to get him fired up.

I hate all of the "Who's the MVP" talk after week 2, 3, etc... but... what the heck, it's week 6, guys are starting to separate from the pack, the award is Baker's to lose... that 3rd & 14 run will be talked about all week... TD strikes to practice squad WRs...

MVP, MVP, MVP...

Guy just hit our wire, dropped for a last minute TE

I’ve been holding the #1 waiver priority waiting for a RB

Worth the waiver priority?

Holding Maye/Purdy

6-0

I guess everybody has their opinion and people will be contrarian and stick up for their heroes and all that stuff. I think people younger than me might be compensating because they have no God or country so they need something?

I don't know and I can't really psychoanalyze it or analyze it period. It's bizarre and slightly problematic not only to act this way but to have people offer defenses for that person.

I honestly don't get it in the least. I also think it is indeed troubling and disconcerting. It ruins trust, courtesy, fidelity, and honor. I dunno. You can have him.
I like people who get all their opinions and thoughts from what everybody else thinks. I agree. Being contrarian is bad.

Lions are decimated on their back end. Saints haven’t been great stopping anyone. Bucs are down so many weapons though.

He could go on a TD heater after the bye week and he’s been really good this year so far not turning it over and using his legs.

I’d drop Purdy for him for sure though in the meantime. Back to elite statistically down the stretch.

Is that what you got from what I was saying? That is bizarre to think I was arguing for unthinking conformity. What communication gap did I leave where you could possibly infer that? I don’t want to derail the thread any further because I’ve finished my point, really.

Baker was ironically asked about his behavior and the public and mass media reaction to it this past week. His answer wasn’t epiphanic, but he had a decent and somewhat accurate, if standard, assessment of the way people thought and now think of him and what that means.

So I’m not dreaming when I find him off-putting at times and I’m not his biggest fan. There are parts of him I really appreciate; other parts not so much. I’ve thought about it at least, which is more than you can say about how he thinks people think of him. Dunno. You can have it from here.

I like my athletes to give the p.r. response for everything. What a lot of nerve to be open and be yourself even if ppl don't like it. Athletes need to toe the line. In fact we all need to toe the line more. That's the problem with America right now. Too many ppl are being different. It would be way better if ppl just did what was expected of them instead of expressing their honest feelings.

I suppose you can have discussions like this. I don’t choose to do that. I don’t ever have conversations like this, actually. I get intemperate, say ****, carouse and then type—but I’m generally not mischaracterizing arguments or if my comments aren’t a function of intentionality, then I’m also not making low-wattage comments about things I don’t understand. I remember that you’re the commissioner of a league where you were saying you were bothering people in the league to trade you guys, and you threatened people jokingly or not, or something like that, and you thought it was no big deal and six or seven people here told you it was and I just kind of remember that. Take care.

I also remember you getting into it with various members of these boards with a know-it-all, condescending, sort of attitude all the time. Why did I take you off of ignore? You take care also.

How is Baker not the leading candidate for MVP right now???

He has put the team on his back this season and has willed them to W's with his play and leadership

I don't know about this week, but, after playing in Buffalo in week 11, the Bucs only play games in Florida, California, or Carolina for the rest of the year. Including a game against the woeful Dolphins in "fantasy championship" week 17. I'd hold Baker for insurance against bad weather in the fantasy playoffs for that alone.

Depends on your need for that RB insurance and how much you think you'll recover your position as other teams deal with byes I guess.

The media darlings will always get the nod when it's time to vote. If Mahomes, Allen and Mayfield all had the exact same season with the exact same variables, Mayfield is finishing 3rd by a lot. The media is also so invested in making the Mahomes the GOAT that he will get the MVP if he keeps playing like this and the Chiefs win 10+ games.
