QB Brett Rypien, IND (1 Viewer)

Lol. Hackett after finding out they were on hot mic. Did you take care of that rash we were talking about?

On a side note, Seth Williams is Tim Patrick 2.0. Solid play all preseason.

Well Russ signed long term, so that's not great for Ryp. But he should take over in a year or two when Russ loses a step.

Yep. One of those "good problems to have." Don't think Rypien is in the same class as Wilson but it's great to know we've got a QB2 w/ lots of upside potential. Rypien has a solid work ethic plus the elusive "it factor" and will only continue to grow and learn from one of the best. Kind of like the A.Rod/J.Love situation.

Could you imagine the buzz if he could dethrone the guy you just paid $250M and gave up two years of top picks for? He would easily replace Bill Brasky, Al Bundy and Chuck Norris on the scale of legends. That said, I fear Mr. Hackett will end his career if he gets even one start.

Don't forget that journey QB Geno Smith did a little better than Russell last year in Seattle, and is cooking with Metcalf and Lockett this year. Is Schneider, who drafted Wilson back in 2010, a football genius?

Wouldn't surprise me if the team comes out ready to play for this dude. Hamstrung with Hackett but otherwise there could be some real progress made.

i watched and remember that 2020 jet game. rypien was terrible, but the jets were so so so bad they made him look serviceable. i remember a noodle arm and limited mobility. he threw 3 picks and the jets were god awful.

at the end of the game there were some bad feelings, with gregg robinson sending the DL headhunting cause they didn’t like some things. but i don’t think anyone is really left on the jets that remembers….that said, rypien is somewhat accurate and may hit some short routes, but i don’t think this ends well for him. yes, i’m a jet fan, but i still remember thinking that if we lose to this stiff don’t even bother showing up the rest of 2020.

Brett Rypien completed 24-of-46 passes for 225 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Broncos' 16-9, Week 7 loss to the Jets.

People were understandably wondering if Rypien might pop up with a better effort than the strugglefests Russell Wilson (hamstring) has been offering up this season. He did not, looking every bit the fourth-year undrafted free agent he is as he struggled to sustain drives and continually flirted with adding to his interception total. The one INT Rypien did "convert" was a down-field heave where it was impossible for a layman to discern what Rypien was looking at. Rypien did manage to find Jerry Jeudy for 7/96, but most of that was Jeudy YAC from one reception. Rypien found Courtland Sutton only three times for 23 yards. Even with the Broncos going on bye in Week 9, we suspect they will do everything they can to get Wilson back for Week 8 vs. Jacksonville.

Brett Rypien completed 4-of-8 attempts for 16 yards, a touchdown, and an interception in the Broncos' Week 14 loss to the Chiefs.

Rypien came in for Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter after Wilson suffered a head injury that knocked him out of the game. Rypien threw a short touchdown to Jerry Jeudy. He threw an interception on the team's next possession when he was hit during the throw. In one 2021 start, Rypien completed 52 percent of his attempts for no touchdowns and one pick. He would be a major downgrade for the Denver offense, believe it or not.

Looks like he's getting another shot this week. Won't have to come in cold, and gets to face Cards D which isn't as good as the Jets. Really like him this week.

I really like the Cardinals DT this week. And not because they're good.
Brett had the Deer in the Headlights look a few times Sunday.
He came in ice cold and threw a TD and his pick his arm was hit. You'll see after a full week of practice.

The TD was nice, there were some other throws that were head-scratching.

Brett led the team to 26 points.

Most Russ has EVER led this team to was 21 (they had 21 when he went out injured last week)

Worst thread on the board.

Let Ryp get his *** kicked by his own teammates is more like it.

You should be hoping he gets off the plane alive.
Ya, not sure if you're trolling or just didn't see the video. His teammates are not 'kicking his ***". He went and stood up for Russ by saying something to a lineman who then snapped and shoved him. Numerous teammates jumped in and pushed Risner back and away. People on that team don't like Russ and it shows, and would rather play tough for Brett.

I mean I don't know if they'd rather play for Brett specifically or just literally anyone but Russ.
Probably a bit of both. Brett probably in a tough situation because he likely wants to start and thinks he should start, but has never publically waivered his loyalty to Russ and defends him at all costs.

@Deamon

Rams signed QB Brett Rypien, formerly of the Broncos, to a one-year contract.

Rypien figures to compete with rookie fourth-round pick Stetson Bennett for the Rams' backup quarterback role. In two starts for the Broncos last season, Rypien went 1-1 while throwing for 483 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions. Rypien's four years of NFL experience could give him an early edge over Bennett in the quarterback competition, but the career backup has done little to suggest he's a lock for the role.

This reminds me of the Chad Kelly love. Seems so random. Why the confidence that he’s good?
Haha he's family, gotta support him.

Also I genuinely think he's good enough to be a backup in the league.

Thanks I actually hadn't seen this. Makes sense that they don't want a QB controversy in Payton's first year.
Dude, you gotta get off this train.

I would try and get the thread deleted. Holy cow.

This is a long haul train for @Deamon - we all should have such supportive people in our lives

Ugh, really didn't want him to be on a team I don't like. With Stafford injury history, he could get some starts though. Plus he's 2 years younger than Stetson anyways.

He's a relative, so of course I cheer for him and want him to do well.

Oh, okay, funny, I actually almost mentioned as much, so that makes sense.

My apologies and best of luck to him, you never know, and hey, he's in the NFL. I mean, that alone, not too shabby, right?

Brett outplayed Stetson in limited action today. Hopefully wins the #2 spot but it's looking like Stetson might be Staffords backup unfortunately.

Brutal. Rams are stupid. But I'm happy I don't have to cheer for the Rams now. They're dead to me.

Hopefully he lands somewhere as a QB3 soon.
