QB Brett Rypien- MIN (1 Viewer)

Starting this week and not even on the front page. Shame.
He’s not officially starting yet.

That being said. I do own him and may have the option to start him in SuperFlex, so I’m intrigued by you facilitating the discussion.

I know very little about him.

But I do see him as one of the fresh meat quarterbacks with some of the best weapons around him. Him and Jaren Hall have the best surrounding tools of the guys being thrown into the fire this weekend.

Levis (though he got a start)
AOC (though he got a start)
Tune
Hall
Rypien

What a weekend of football!

Pretty much as official as it can be.

More of a game manager.... super smart player with all the intangibles you could want. Maybe one of the least PHYSICALLY gifted QBs in the entire league though.

Brett always seems to play better when he's given the green light to sling it. Coming in late in the game "just to not mess up" holds him back.

2-1 as a career starter, will be cheering hard on Sunday.

How does this guy have a 4 page thread?
Has kinda a cool name? Mark Rypien's son?
Nephew. I assumed he was Mark's son years ago, found out otherwise, but still have to often double check myself.

Like with Ladd McConkey. My brain absolutely refuses to allow me to believe he's not related to Phil.

Going to mess around and help push this thread to page 5.

A little highlight reel.

Don’t hate what I see here.

Not even sure if he’s playing yet. But if it ends up he’s going tomorrow… I’ll have a tough choice for who to pick from at QB2 in SuperFlex.
Not sure from a fantasy standpoint he'll be that great of a start, who is your other option?
AOC… not great either.

I own both Davante and Henderson so both have some magical ability for a stack.
ahh.. ya tough call there.

Yeah. Pretty rough. I feel like both teams will want to establish the run.

Both have decent WR weapons but I’d put the edge on Rypien with the better weapons.

Coaching wise… I like mcvay over the new linebacker coach for an offensive mindset. But… mcvay has some interesting game plans sometimes… and there’s all this news/rumor about how the Raiders want to and need to feed Davante.

I like the fact that AOC is a possible season long starter for me… and Rypien is likely just a 1 week filler, so my personal hope is that AOC has a good day… which sometimes goes into my decision making… right or wrong.

When people complain about all the terrible roughing the passer calls, all the NFL has to do is show tape of Brett Rypien.

This is brutal. Rainy, like 3 drops, pressured on almost every play, and that last int was basically perfectly thrown.

But they prob lose and the ppl looking just at his stats will think he sucked.

Waived according to Schefty.

@Deamon your loyalty was admirable and entertaining even going back to the Broncos days.

GL in the future
Heartbroken by this. Guys were dropping balls that landed right in their hands, OL that couldn't hold off the DL at all, flukey bounces, and lots of rain.

He wasn't amazing, but he was better than it appeared. Wentz is trash.

Don't necessarily disagree. The cynical side of me thinks it may be a poorly disguised tank to position for a developmental Stafford successor in the draft

Brutally bad. At least the thread never reached Christine Michael status. Waldman is a better talent evaluator than most, but he completely whiffed on this one. Y'all need to let it go.

No one said he was a world beater. But he deserved better than all his WR's dropping passes that were right in their hands. He'll improve and be ready for his next chance.

I'm really not sure why you defend this guy so much unless it's schtick, or he's a relative, but either way Rypien's had a shot to produce. He got a look in Denver, and just had another good opportunity to put quality football on tape for LA. He's failed in that regard and has a career QB rating sub-60. QBR is in the 20's. He's obviously got NFL talent, but something's missing. Sometimes the NFL scouts are right. This appears to be one of those cases. Maybe a good practice team guy?

I've mentioned many times in here that he's a relative of mine.

He does have NFL talent. Pretty decent arm, but no mobility and compared to most NFL qb's, extremely low on the 'physically gifted' scale. He's been praised by many former teammates/coaches for his football IQ, ability to read defenses, X's and O's, etc. Had a great career at Boise and I see no reason why he can't be a solid backup in the league as he's a great addition to the QB room and helping the starter prepare.

Never read that, so thank you. Makes sense why you'd cheer for the guy and I applaud you for doing so. I wish everyone the best in the NFL, including Rypien, and I honestly liked Rypien's potential in Denver but for now it seems like the sun is setting on his hopes at being a relevant starter in the NFL. The problem I have with him is when he comes into games either as a backup or a starter, I don't see any fire. I want a spark from my backup, Rypien hasn't really been able to show that in his 3+ years. He's got something to like about him or he wouldn't have caught on with 2 different teams as the #2 already.

obv. you don't want to continuously post that but think a lot of people incl. myself didn't realize that, well that makes more sense then, and would've cut you more slack if had known.

It's wild you are dying on the BR hill. He's had multiple chances to show something. He isn't an NFL backup.

Edit - I missed the relative part. It all makes sense now!
