There has actually been several. The latest was 49ers OL Jon Feliciano. He sustained a concussion during the Week 4 game against the Cardinals. He got cleared for Week 5 and played against the Cowboys without sitting out any games.
I hope they keep Purdy out this week even if cleared tho.

I would sit Purdy out. I think he's a mediocre talent, that is getting covered up by the players and system around him.

Brock Purdy is practicing for the second straight day and, barring a setback, is on pace to be cleared from the concussion program tomorrow. Kyle Shanahan will supply the full injury report/Purdy situation around 5pm EST

No way they risk a Tua-like thing. I’m not a neurologist, but I have to think you’re more susceptible to another concussion the less time you have to recover from the original one (as far as football goes).

Kyle Shanahan said Brock Purdy was full go in practice today, is on track to pass the concussion protocol tomorrow. He'll start Sunday if he passes as expected.

Seems to be a lot of doubt going around on Purdy this week. In one of my 1QB redraft leagues someone dropped Purdy for Ridder as a start this week.

49ers should have held Purdy out. He made so many poor decisions against Cincy.
Darnold would've had a chance. Purdy made some mistakes, but also several big time throws, big time escapes, and nice runs. He was under lots of pressure.

There is nothing to celebrate. He wasn’t good, he had super elite weapons and an excellent offensive mind to put bumper rails up for him. Take a few of those weapons away and he’s just a guy.
I can understand Niners fans homering up and pretending he’s a future hall of famer but not other people.
If a Niners fan has called him a future HOFer here I haven’t seen it. Half the fan base still thinks Trey Lance is better.

This was a strange game when it came to Purdy. He lead the offense in rushing, his scrambling kept the 49ers in the game, made big time throws while in the next made throws that could had been picked, until it came down Kittle baling him out - which was a good thing, Mahomes does that with Kelce often, but that's more Kittle than Purdy being nowhere near Mahomes - and it really came down to Purdy late in a game.
And again it was not good. It was like Purdy vs. Burrow, and Burrow won that one easy. The 49ers have scored 17 points in three consecutive games, of course without Deebo Samuels and Trent Williams, CMC was held to less rushing yardage than Purdy, and Purdy is now averaging at least 30 attempts per game. A key difference is now he has to make throws instead of just planting and throwing to a spot, we now can see where his floor is after three games where that is being taken away.
And the floor is near bottom. He has now thrown games away that could have been won. Are there defciencies overall on the team the now has come to light? Sure, but Purdy is also one of them. Games like this one come down to the QB, and three turnovers in the 4th quarter by the QB is a QB problem. Full Stop. There is no other way around this, the three game losing streak the 49ers have now had have at least this: the QB has at least turned the ball over once, and lost that game, which was a trend during the Garoppolo era of late there, even with a defense that was then one of the best in the NFC. 4th quarter turnovers are still a trend with the 49er offense, and as much as I hate to put wins as a QB stat, when it comes to tunrovers late in a game from a QB, that is definitely a QB stat.
Like I said earlier, if the 49ers started Darnold and lost this game, you could blame it on Darnold. But this loss was is on Purdy. forget how poor the defense played, if the defense plays more poorly than usual, the QB has to make that up. If Purdy had a clean game, the 49ers had a chance to win this one despite the defense. But three turnovers with a fourth that was called back due to a defensive penalty that favored the 49ers, only to lose the ball by Purdy the next play later is just bad plain quarterback play, despite all the other plays he made in the drive prior because he had an heroic effort by George Kittle.
Now this loss has fingers pointing to why a three game losing streak into the bye, with the DC on the hot seat, and Shanahan not in one because Jed York got drunk one night and said "We're all good!" after week 3 at a team BBQ at his house, and throwing out contract extensions to Shanahan and Lynch. You're only as good as your last game, and the last three games, the 49ers are now not one of the best teams in the NFL, and it still comes down to who is at QB. The 49ers with all the Illuminati of Rice, Montana, and Lott were at yesterday's game because it was against Cincinnati, who they beat twice in the Super Bowl, with one where Joe Montana lead a classic game winning drive.

The 49ers are simply having to or trying to lean on Purdy more than they want to because the running game isn't working and there and theres no balance on offense.
49er RBs have 18, 16, and 15 carries the last 3 weeks while Purdy has thrown 27, 30, and 31 passes. That's a terrible run to pass ratio. In their 5 wins, the least they ran was 25 times, and the rest were 28+ times, and Purdy only threw 30+ passes once in those 5 games. Ideally, they want to run it 30-40 times and have Brock throw 20-25 times. They can't have him throwing way more than they're running, that's just not a recipe for success in the NFL, and it's not how the 49ers are built to play.
He's not a guy they can lean on like that. Not yet, anyway. Will he be at some point? Maybe, maybe not, but he's a 7th round pick who's learning as he goes on what he can and can't get away with in the NFL, and learning the hard way. It doesn't help when your vaunted defense, the one you count on to keep you in games, puts you behind the 8 ball by letting teams get leads early. That's not how this team is built. It's built to run the ball, play good defense, and get efficient QB play. When 2 of those things aren't happening, its gonna look like the last 3 weeks have looked.
When Deebo and Williams come back, I think we will see the offense we saw in the first 5 weeks. Say what you want about him needed an all-star cast around him to succeed, and maybe that's the case. Purdy isn't a Josh Allen Mahomes type that can put a team on his back, and that's OK, nobody expects him to be. It'd be nice if he could, but if he was that type of player he wouldn't have been a 7th round pick.
Will he ever be elite? I doubt it, but I still think he's good enough to win a SB with this team, but they have to be healthy and the defense has to get back to what it was. It doesn't matter who people say is the best team, or has the best roster. The best team doesn't always win the SB, any team can get got come playoff time. And the 49ers have shown the past few years they can bounce back, go on a run, and become dangerous at that time.
Call him mediocre, or terrible, or whatever you want, but he's shown he can play well in big games and on the road (before the 3 game skid, of course) and he does have 2 playoff wins under his belt (thanks to the complimentary football the 49ers are used to playing, it's not an individual win). I don't believe he's regressing at all, he's just being asked to do more than he's capable of at this point in his young career, and it's not working out. When he can go back to just playing point guard as they say, the offense will be fine IMO.
The defense though...that's another problem they need to fix to even have a chance at a playoff run. If they can fix the defense, it'll help Purdy and this team tremendously.

Haven't we seen this before? Feels like Brock Purdy could be the new Nick Mullens... once there is enough tape on a guy the DC's out there can dial 'em up.
Of course it doesn't help that the SFF defense stinks now. Hard to excel as a front-running QB when you're playing from behind.

Comparing Purdy to Mullens? Not even in the same universe.
Purdy is fine, he's not the biggest problem in San Fran. He made some incredible plays, but he's not a put the team on his back type of QB, and that's what's happening because of the lack of complementary football and the inability to run the ball. He's trying to force things because Kyle is putting him in that position.
I'll say it several more times before Week 10. Deebo and Trent back will make a HUGE difference in the offense.
The defense, however, has to get stops and get off the field to give the offense more chances. In their 5 wins, they averaged 63 offensive plays per game. In the 3 losses, they averaged 52 offense plays per game.
It's hard to win when you have to throw the ball more than you run it, especially with a young QB that is being asked to do more than he's capable of. That's not a knock on Brock. Kyle needs to call a game to his players strengths and not put him in position to fail.

I was saying during the game that I think he is concussed. Doesn't seem to have the same quick release that he's had, and his decision making has fallen off a cliff the last few games. At the end of the last game when he was grabbing his head after if slamming into the turf only further cemented my beliefs.
I'm not a Niners fan, and it's in my team's best interest for him to play poorly, but I like the kid and think he's a good thing for the game. Hopefully I'm wrong and he's just had a few bad games.

They also drafted Joshua Dobbs in 2017 so they liked him enough to draft him, and they couldn't see his NFL potential? So they go with Mason Rudolph, Trubisky, and Kenny Pickett now. I still like Pickett's potential though, thought he would be doing better this year.

It's 2nd highest average through 10 games in NFL history among QBs w/ 250+ attempts.
The others: Boomer Esiason in '88 (9.8), Dan Marino in '84 (9.7), Aaron Rodgers in '11 (9.6).
They all went on to win NFL MVP.

Fewer than should people are able reconcile that Purdy is actually good. Even fewer than should are able to reconcile that he might even be elite.
But, but, but, Cale Shanahan, and some such!
Brock doesn't have the elite physicals, or even good ones by NFL standards. But he is an elite processor in an elite situation and we can decide much later which, if either, actually undermines the credibility of the other.

Brady had some pretty damn good defenses. Some of those Super Bowls were won because of that or Adam Vanateri, not Tom Brady. I do see some of Brady in Purdy however.
