QB Bryce Young, CAR (4 Viewers)

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports QB Bryce Young will meet with the Texans.

Young would be available for Houston at No. 2 overall if the Panthers keep the first pick and take C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State. Young, who enters the draft with widespread concern about his size, has also met with the Raiders and Panthers. Young would be the unquestioned Week 1 starter for Houston if the Texans take him with the second overall pick, leaving Davis Mills as a somewhat capable backup.

Relative outperformance under pressure (pressure YPA to clean YPA) has been correlated with NFL success. Most NFL environments are more similar to college pressures than vast clean pockets.
Bryce Young is in the neighborhood of Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Deshaun Watson

Height-wise he’s in the neighborhood of Billy Barty, Hervé Villechaize, Vern Troyer, Warwick Davis, & Peter Dinklage.

Whew. I am very relieved to hear that he’s reached these staggering heights. I’d heard rumours about a picture floating around with Bryce Young standing beside a yoked-up looking Papa Smurf.

Since I've been asked, Alabama QB Bryce Young scored a 98 on the S2 cognitive test, per sources. That's a HUGE number—and one his teammate, Tide TE Cameron Latu, matched. I mentioned Burrow, Fields and Allen (all in the 90s) as high scorers. Young's score edged out all of them.

We've referenced Bryce Young's S2 score—I'm told Kentucky QB Will Levis wasn't far off from Young on it, with a score of 93 on the test (Joe Burrow, Justin Fields and Josh Allen aced the S2 coming out). Levis has 30 visits with the Titans, Bucs & Falcons this week, per sources.

Maaaaaaan, the last time I saw Mina and Bryce together, I accidentally picked them up, and put them on a wedding cake.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Alabama QB Bryce Young canceled his remaining pre-draft visits.

Young has already met with the Panthers and Texans, the teams that hold the top two picks of next week's draft. Viewed by many as the No. 1 overall pick of this year's class, Young will forego any remaining visits he has scheduled, believing that he's already met with the teams most likely to draft him. In addition to speaking with the Panthers and Texans, Young also spoke with the Raiders, although it's unlikely Vegas finds itself in a position to draft him. With a little more than a week to go before the draft, Young can sit back and wait to hear his name called on draft night.

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said the team hasn't told Alabama QB Bryce Young that he'll be the first overall pick.

Regardless, it feels like it's just a matter of time at this point after Young canceled his remaining pre-draft visits yesterday. Young has shifted to an overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 overall in betting markets. Carolina's process will soon conclude and they will likely drop Young into Frank Reich's offense.

S2 Cognition test results per @BobMcGinn
  • Bryce Young - 98%
  • Jake Haener - 96%
  • Will Levis - 93%
  • Jaren Hall - 93%
  • Clayton Tune - 84%
  • Anthony Richardson - 79%
  • Hendon Hooker - 46%
  • CJ Stroud - 18%

here‘s McGinns article at GoLong: https://www.golongtd.com/p/part-3-qb-bryce-young-has-the-s2

“The S2 people will say, ‘Hey, guys that graded high on this test don’t always play well,’” one club executive said, “’But, we’ve never had somebody grade low and play well.’”

Multiple sources said Young’s total score was 98% whereas Stroud’s total score was 18%.

Some other total scores in the class of quarterbacks this year were 96% for Fresno State’s Jake Haener, 93% for Kentucky’s Will Levis and Brigham Young’s Jaren Hall, 84% for Houston’s Clayton Tune, 79% for Florida’s Anthony Richardson and 46% for Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.

“Stroud scored 18,” an executive said. “That is like red alert, red alert, you can’t take a guy like that. That is why I have Stroud as a bust.

Especially shocking when you watch his college tape.
I’m not saying this to disparage him - I like Stroud - but his cognitive abilities don’t show up much in his college tape because he’s always played with the best WRs in the game. He’s had dominant WRs each and every season. No decisions need to be made when every first look is wide open.

I find that to be a wildly unrealistic and oversimplified take.

The Peach Bowl alone proves this narrative to be entirely fictional - he had to go off-script most of the game, and still performed incredibly well.

Cmon

I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem *may* have been, that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being *crushed* by *Bryce Young*. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.

Ian Faith : I really think you're just making much too big a thing out of it.

Derek Smalls : Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea.

Ian Faith : Nigel gave me a drawing that said 18 inches. Now, whether or not he knows the difference between feet and inches is not my problem. I do what I'm told.

David St. Hubbins : But you're not as confused as him are you. I mean, it's not your job to be as confused as Nigel.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young earned the highest overall draft score at his position in the 2023 NFL Draft (92).

The 2021 Heisman Trophy winner is one of two offensive players in this year's draft class to earn an elite (90+) overall draft score.

@_bryce_young | @AlabamaFTBL

According to the NGS Draft Model, Bryce Young has about a 50-50 chance of making a Pro Bowl in his first three seasons.

The only quarterback prospects with a higher Pro Bowl probability over the last 20 years were Andrew Luck (53%) and Robert Griffin III (51%).

Remember the special Kenny Pickett gloves?

They gotta make a whole uniform/helmet to accommodate Young’s 3”/11 lb frame.

I hate when they use his combine weight when they compare him to other shorties. Not the exec, but the counter points used.

Young beefed up for the combine. Didn’t participate at all and wore a hoodie covering himself up.

Then he slimmed down to his playing weight (likely around 190) to perform at his pro day.

He doesn’t play at 204 pounds. He’s significantly lighter than Murray/Wilson/Brees were.

That said he may end up great but he would be a huge outlier.
