Lot of box score watchers are going to see Caleb Williams only completing 25% of his passes and averaging 2.3 yards per attempt and they will assume that he's played horribly and they will be correct
If he called that lineman dive from the 1 he should be blackballed from the NFL for life. What was that? The Bears were lucky to be in a position to win, then the comedy of errors on the hail mary made all right in the world. The Bears had no business being in that game.Is it him? Is it Shame Waldron? Both?
I put the blame on Shame. His “offense” is way too cute and gimmicky. Put your young QB in a position to succeed maybe?
He’s designing these weird plays, before the actual flipping play. A rookie QB needs LESS to think about.
It’s like Waldron is trying to be some dime store magician pre-snap - he needs to go or Caleb will never have a sane offense to run.
Today's duel of rookie QBs demonstrated what a real talent looks like, and what an overrated pretender is. Case closed.why is he so bad

According to @NextGenStats, Caleb Williams was pressured on 51.6% of dropbacks and had just a 2.47-second time-to-pressure average. It's the highest pressure percentage and quickest time to pressure of his career.
Even so, he was 5/8 for 95 yards on his final 2 drives.
I’m no fan of Williams but there is zero statistical relevance to your absurd claim. I'm starting to think Jaxon-Smith Njigba was right about Waldron... you have a Bye and that's the gameplan you come out with? Where were the easy layups to get Williams in rhythm?Caleb Williams completed 10-of-24 passes for 131 yards and had 10 carries for 41 yards in the Bears’ 18-15, Week 8 loss to the Commanders.
Williams was uneasy and erratic in the pocket for the first three quarters in this one. The No. 1 overall pick had just 36 passing yards before the fourth quarter but was at his best on his last two offensive drives. Unfortunately, a poor play call by Shane Waldron had Williams handing the ball off to backup lineman Doug Kramer Jr. at the Commanders’ two-yard line, which resulted in a fumble and a recovery by the Commanders to squash the drive. On the following drive, Williams aired the ball out for gains of 16 and 22 yards and saw a downfield pass to Keenan Allen end with an 11-yard pass interference call on fourth down. Roschon Johnson would score two plays later, and a two-point conversion by Cole Kmet put the Bears up 15-12 with 25 seconds to go. Unfortunately, a Hail Mary touchdown pass by Jayden Daniels handed the Bears their third loss of the season in what was a highly-anticipated game between this year’s No. 1 and No. 2 overall picks. Williams and the Bears get the Cardinals in Week 9. He’ll look to rebound from a largely disappointing outing, and will be a mid-QB2 next week in fantasy.

First three quarters it was ugly. Everything extremely overthrown. Like not even close. This was interesting to me as I didn't see too much of this one until the end. Where Williams played very well under pressure.
I was surprised to see the awful overall numbers.

All 22 QB Breakdown: Caleb Williams
Dan Orlovsky
Caleb has more off-target throws (58) than any QB in the NFL. Had 9 more Sunday
The pass game is too jumbled/disjointed. The timing with his feet—too disconnected.
Blasphemy.JD, Bo, and even Drake seem to be playing better than Caleb at this point. It has to be Chicago’s coaching, right? This kid is too talented to not be good. He has a good RB in Swift and pass catchers in Moore, Odunze, Allen, and Kmet. Wonder what’s going on for him to continue to be this inconsistent.

Zero OL, defensive minded HC over his skis and Shane Waldron as the OC. This sums up the Chicago Bears. They already ruined this kid. We have seen this show before in ChicagoBlasphemy.JD, Bo, and even Drake seem to be playing better than Caleb at this point. It has to be Chicago’s coaching, right? We were told Williams is the greatest rookie to ever set foot on a field.
Surely, this can't be any his fault in any way shape or form.![]()
but is he? Maybe he is but its also easy to blame coaching or OL. This could also just be an adjustment period but one has to wonder if he's just not as good as he was hyped up to be.This kid is too talented to not be good.
Sadly there are good young QBs that go on bad teams and have potential to become something. The Bears are the 7th ring of hell for young QBs. A special kind of demiseRemember when QB's were given a couple of years to settle in on bad teams before we deigned to judge them?
Adam Schefter thinks the Bears are discussing benching Caleb Williams for Tyson Bagent
Embarrassing lack of accountability from the coaches to even consider this and try to blame Caleb for their own demise. Caleb has not played great, but he is a rookie who deserves better coaching and guidance. Watch Caleb demand a trade this offseason.Wow.

Caleb Williams is on pace to be sacked 72 times this season.
Would be 2nd most in NFL history.
Gregg Braggs Jr.
Matt Eberflus when asked if there will be a Quarterback change:
"No, Caleb is our starter."
Sure sounds like the upcoming evaluations that Eberflus is still conveniently “in the process” of as of his latest press briefing are going to be coaching-focused. Williams took nine sacks (9 sacks?) in Chicago’s Week 10 loss to the Patriots. Something has got to give. We’d be surprised if Shane Waldron saw more than another sunrise as Bears offensive play caller.
This is fair Joe. My comments stem from some of the coaches statements on how they have handled some decisions this year. I don’t get a sense of accountability. I agree that Caleb has not done himself any favors with his play as well. I am not sure benching him at this point is a positive for his development, but I also admittedly have only seen Caleb play once this year (Indy game in which he looked pretty good imo).I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.
Would Williams be better in Kansas City or with the Rams? Certainly. But the guy has looked not good a good bit. I'm not willing to put 100% on the coaches.
Agree here - it can’t all be on the coaching. They have a pretty strong group of WRs, a one of the better pass catching RBs in the game, and also a solid TE. The offensive line isn’t doing him any favors, but the weapons are there if he can deliver the ball quickly.I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.

Caleb certainly demands a bunch of the blame for his performance and I haven't seen anything where he is passing the buck on accountability.I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.

I get this sentiment because it is incumbent on most fans to trust that their new rookie will be all-world. That being said, this coaching regime has stubbornly bashed it's collected head against the same brick wall over and over and over trying to get a result different than a concussion. The stubbornness of Flus/Waldron (and for sure Flus/Getsy) to try to peg a player into 'their system' has been astounding. If you look at what Washington has done for Daniels, and make no mistake he is a good QB playing in a toned down system, it's plainly clear that a disconnect between "MY SYSTEM" and reality is taking place in Chicago. I'm 100% sure that Caleb in WAS would yield similar results to what's going on now.I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.

It speaks volumes to me that the 22YO QB sits there during pressers and takes 100% accountability for getting better and you don't see that at all from the 54YO head coach.Caleb certainly demands a bunch of the blame for his performance and I haven't seen anything where he is passing the buck on accountability.I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.

I think the coaching has been suspect for sure but I put more blame on personnel acquisition, or lack thereof on the offensive line and an unfortunate string of injuries on the o-line. As @Buckna pointed only the starting center from before the season is playing ATM.
Caleb's accuracy has been a huge disappointment after it seemed such an asset coming into the league but, as I mentioned above, every game I have seen so far Caleb if flushed from the pocket by a d-lineman or blitzer who gets through the o-line in 2 seconds. It happens a ton.
It takes a village for to create positive outcomes (see Jayden Daniels) and it takes a village to create negative ones (see Caleb Williams).
Definitely not 100% coaches. He's extremely inaccurate downfield. It's almost like he doesn't understand how strong his arm is. He appears to be the most athletically gifted "statue qb" I've ever seen. He's so hesitant to leave the pocket. He holds the ball looking downfield way too long for a guy who should know his line is not great. Be more open to checking down young man. Having said all that, I'd assume a better OC and QB coach would be working on these issues. Coaching him through.I'm fascinated in how any negative play from Williams is automatically deemed to be 100% the coaches fault.
