QB Case Keenum, HOU (1 Viewer)

So I'm forced to play this guy due to all sorts of roster craziness.  Can he keep it up and keep Bridgewater on the bench?

Just saw blurb said vikes were tempted to start Bridgewater against Rams. Not what I wanted to hear- makes me nervous to start him- if he has bad half could be yanked. Seems unfair but that’s the reality.

I think he's still a decent play, but you're living on borrowed time. One bad game, or injury, and he could get Tyrod'ed.

Also, one thing I noticed is that he appears to be very match-up dependent. Everyone's high on him now coming off of last week's performance, but his best games this year (Wash, Cle, TB) have come against bad Ds, and his worst games (Pit, Balt, Det) have come against good ones. His schedule ROS leans toward the negative.

I'd be wary of starting him. Those two interceptions in the 2nd half vs Washington were brutal, just awful throws. Almost let Washington come back in the game and win it. Should be an interesting game.

Only got him in cause I was worried rivers wouldn't play.  Now that it looks like rivers will play, wondering if the shark move is to dump keenum for Bridgewater

Where do people rank him in this week? Rams D on paper looks like a QB killer but digging deeper, the match-up isn't as bad as I thought.
Home game, two teams that play up-tempo. Rams numbers against QBs have really benefitted by the game they hurt Palmer and the Scott Tolzien game. Hoyer lit the up earlier in the year.

Personally, I think the Vikings resign him and Bridgewater. Bradford signs somewhere, possibly NY.
Thats kind of what I think may happen also.

Still depends on what happens for the rest of the year somewhat also, and of course money, but both QBs have reasons to want to stay with the Vikings.

Keenum has really done nothing that warrants him being left unemployed, that's for sure.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer wouldn’t commit to Case Keenum as his starter beyond next week.

Keenum has played good enough to not be benched, but remains on a short leash. Despite seven straight wins, he’s a bad week away from returning to a backup role. The Vikings view Teddy Bridgewater as their franchise quarterback and need to see Bridgewater post knee-surgery in a walk year. Keenum will start against the Falcons, but his job security is week-to-week.

Wow that was a long article, I got bored pretty quickly.
I think this article is biased and over analyzing Keenum. He is a great fit for the system he is in and making the most of it. I would try and keep Keenum if minny. Can they franchise him?

Will it be the same system if/when Shurmur leaves?

Well probably not the same. But maybe they will run a similar offense with whoever replaces him? They are winning games. Are people in Minnesota frustrated by the offense and QB play?

I don't know what Bridgewater's future injury risk is based on the injury he suffered but I would think Keenum has the best knees of the three.

yawn....this guy caught lightning in the bottle. I'll bet good money he get's over paid and busts next year.

You are probably right. I’m rooting for him to continue to do well, but he isn’t the type of guy I’d spend a lot of money on. Wouldn’t want him as my “franchise” qb

I would say Keenum is my biggest concern as a Vikings fan heading into the postseason.  Based on the path in the NFC the only way I think the Vikings lose is if Keenum doesn't take care of the ball and turns it over a ton.  If he takes care of the ball I believe they should make it through the NFC.
Agreed.

As long as he doesn't kneel during the anthem, he'll be making mid 8 figures next year.

Could easily have an Alex Smith career going forward, and that's pretty good.  But if I had to bet on boom/bust, I'd bet the under.

I should share my football knowledge with you guppies more often but I prefer to profit and get them bags.  Peace

wow, I forgot what a good read this thread ended up being...Fun owning so many of you in due time #patience

You could say you took a bunch of people to school. Because it took 4 years and at the end you're not sure if it's worth anything.

Below is your original quote in this thread, is this what you are bragging about?

If you want upside, grab Keenum in all dynasty/keeper leagues. I think TJ Yates is serviceable but a better #2. Keenum is the guy that could surprise in a big way. Just my 2 cents from an H-Town homer.

4 years of stashing him and getting QB15 results gets you fired up?  You must be downright estatic about Paul Richardson'd progress.

Case Keenum was a great find in my 2QB league and grabbing him right after Bradford went down got me to the playoffs.
As an interested owner though, the playoffs cooled me on him for 2018. I went from thinking the Vikings would be foolish not to bring him back to thinking that an alternate option will be necessary.

Yep.  3 and 4 TDs in those first two games helped me clinch a bye in the first round.  Pretty good career for an undrafted free agent that no one in the FBG realm was talking about pre season except for Major.

You guys should follow sport more closely...homey had some amazing games in 2013 out of the gate and a serviceable career that no one expected so yeah making that call gets me fired up.  I don't play fantasy like I used to but he's made me a killing in Vegas.  Thanks Case for helping me out on that Tesla.  Peace

When your football knowledge plants the flag on "serviceable careers" that might speaks volumes.  I'm sure Vegas has you on all their watch lists.

How about first year bruh?  fake news? ...chop up stats to support your point. School girl stuff. I'm a big picture guy.  Cash Rules.  Have fun on this message board hating others who succeed and provide knowledge years head of the curve.  Keep following the herd.  It's a safe play but you'll always remain average at best. Peace

He spent his first year on the practice squad.  Your schtick sucks.
