Speaking on a radio show Tuesday, Giants HC Brian Daboll said of Daniel Jones: "I want him to be himself. I want him to not be afraid of consequences and pull the trigger and attack."
The Giants are kind of a sneaky post-hype team under Daboll's leadership if you buy the idea that Joe Judge and Jason Garrett were holding the talent on the roster back. (And that's not exactly far-fetched.) Jones will return with a full complement of skill position players and did throw 24 touchdowns in 12 starts in his rookie season. It shouldn't be considered entirely off-the-radar that the Giants offense could bounce back under Daboll, which could turn Jones into an upside play some weeks.

New Giants coach Brian Daboll has reiterated his desire for Daniel Jones to "cut it loose" in 2022.
It is Daboll's second such exhortation. "Yeah, look, we want to make sure we protect the ball," Daboll said of a quarterback known for fumbling. "But again, you can't go out there and play afraid. Be smart, not reckless, if you will. If he's got a shot on the right read, let it go." It is a valid critique despite Jones' turnover issues. He actually rates out as an effective deep-ball passer, but he rarely attempts such throws. Jones has wasted Darius Slayton's down-field abilities and predictably did not mesh with sideline maestro Kenny Golladay last season. Daboll is correct that the only way the next step in Jones' career will arrive is if starts hunting more chunk gains ... while also managing his giveaways. It is that extremely tricky needle Jones must thread in 2021.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Daniel Jones (neck) has been cleared for football activities.
Jones missed the final six weeks of the 2021 regular season with a serious neck injury, and the team didn't bring him back in another lost season. The neck issue is not expected to impact Jones' throwing or running this season. In Daboll's offense, Jones could be a surprise late-round quarterback in fantasy leagues, especially if he's more aggressive downfield (as Daboll has encouraged).

Always thought his rookie years was one of the more overlooked rookie QB seasons in quite some time.I'm buying low on Jones here. Perhaps he can turn the corner with healthy weapons and a competent coaching staff.
He also fumbled the ball 19 times - losing 11 of them that seasonAlways thought his rookie years was one of the more overlooked rookie QB seasons in quite some time.
12 GS
24/12 TD:INT ratio
3027 Passing Yards with another 279 rushing yards on the ground (2 TD's to boot)
Getting over the mental scars of 2020/2021 is a substantial hurdle and he's got absolutely no wiggle room. He'll have to show he's turned a corner pretty fast. But it's a decent bet.
What did you give up for him? 1 QB league?I'm hoping for the best in one of my dynasty leagues... traded for him, as I have been sitting on Deshaun Watson in said league and looking more and more like he's not going to play in '22.
Make-or-break year for sure.

Daniel Jones completed 14-of-16 passes for 116 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's preseason game against the Bengals.
He added a five-yard rush. Jones is now 20-of-26 (76.9) percent for 185 yards (7.1 YPA) this summer, failing to find the end zone but playing with good pace and crispness. On the whole, it has been a positive camp, if not necessarily one that suggests fantasy greatness is at hand with elite play-caller Brian Daboll. Jones profiles as a QB2 streamer who should have far greater spiked week potential than he did under Joe Judge.

I watched all of the 1st half. The pick was a volleyball by the TE, but the ball was thrown way too high and with little touch. He rocketed it in there, so I’m splitting the blame equally.Daniel Jones completed 14-of-16 passes for 116 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's preseason game against the Bengals.

Daniel Jones completed 17-of-21 passes for 188 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Giants' 21-20, Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans.
Jones and the Giants were shutout in the first half of this one, but came alive for two touchdowns in the third quarter. Jones' biggest throw of the day came midway through the third when he chucked a pass deep downfield to Sterling Shepard, who outran the rest of the Tennessee defense on his way to a 65-yard score. Jones would throw his second touchdown of the day on a one-yard pass to tight end Chris Myarick, and then convert a two-point conversion to put the Giants up by the final score of 21-20. While Jones turned in some highlights in this one, he also lost a fumble, and threw a crucial interception in the end zone as the Giants were looking to take the lead. Head coach Brian Daboll has a lot of work to do to fix the former first-round draft pick if he's to be the Giant's quarterback of the future, but today offered a lot to build on [???] . Jones shouldn't be trusted as anything more than a QB2 in next week's game against the Panthers.

Daniel Jones has faced pressure on a league-leading 49.3 percent of his drop backs this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
It's the highest mark in the league, just head of Justin Fields and Baker Mayfield. New York's shoddy offensive line has made it nearly impossible for Jones to let downfield routes develop, resulting in a 6.3 average intended air yards per throw, the fifth lowest in the NFL through two weeks. His 6.9 adjusted yards per attempt is in line with his A/YA over his previous three NFL seasons. Jones after two weeks has PFF's fourth lowest passing grade among quarterbacks who have taken at least half of their team's snaps. With no protection and a penchant for checking down, the prospects of Jones suddenly become an aggressive downfield passer are nonexistent. Sterling Shepard and Richie James are likely to benefit from all the check downs, but neither have fantasy upside. Good luck to Jones and the Giants in Week 3 against destroyer of worlds Micah Parsons.

Daniel Jones completed 20-of-37 passes for 196 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception in the Giants' 23-16, Week 3 loss to the Cowboys Monday night.
He was able to save his fantasy day a bit with 79 rushing yards on nine attempts. Jones was pressured on more than half of his drop-backs and was sacked five times. Micah Parsons gave Giants first-round RT Evan Neal his "welcome to the NFL" moment under the bright lights of primetime. Jones didn't play as bad as the stat line would suggest, but he also looked to, at times, be seeing ghosts in the pocket. That kind of pressure will do that to a quarterback, as Jones has been pressured more than any other passer through three weeks. Jones' interception came on the final play when David Sills fell down on his route. Jones isn't a reliable fantasy option but does get a favorable Week 4 draw at home with the Bears.

They got him a free agent WR that took the money and quit giving the effort of a professional athlete/football player and a 1st round WR with zero college production that doesn't like to practice.Yea, look at Tua and Hurts so far this year for the value of weapons + O line...both (so far) look dramatically improved.Daniel Jones is an NFL starting QB...he just has the worst WR core in football. And his teammates can't pass protect for him worth a chit. I still believe in right system he could be a very good QB.
Not sure that is saying much.Hot take: Jones could run that Broncos offense better than Russ right now.

Daniel Jones (ankle) will play in Week 5 against the Packers.
The Giants will hope and pray Jones' ankle holds up against Green Bay. Tyrod Taylor (concussion) is out and Davis Webb would be forced into action if Jones can't get through the game. Jones has no fantasy usefulness outside of deeper superflex formats. His mobility will be limited with the bulky ankle, possibly stripping him of his greatest fantasy appeal.

Daniel Jones completed 21-of-27 passes for 217 yards in the Giants' 27-20, Week 5 win over the Packers, adding 10 carries for 37 yards on the ground.
Before a trio of kneel-downs, he had seven carries for 41 yards. Jones entered this game dealing with an ankle issue but didn't look limited as a passer, making a handful of impressive throws into tight windows. He also took just one sack despite being limited. Facing a pass-funnel defense in Week 6, Jones will be a solid streaming option for fantasy managers looking to the wire.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes "the decision hasn't been made yet" whether the Giants will re-sign QB Daniel Jones after this season.
Jones would have been due $22 million in 2023 under his fifth-year option had the Giants picked it up. That may prove costly with New York currently tied for second-place in the NFC. The fifth-year salary would have put Jones in the bottom half of the league in average value. Extending Jones or applying the franchise tag ($30M+) could be the best play with the Giants unlikely to finish with a pick high enough to draft a replacement. Panthers QBs Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold are both on expiring contracts and Seahawks QB Geno Smith, who played for the Giants in 2017, would be the free agent options if the Giants move on from Jones.
