In his introductory press conference Wednesday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters that the new offense will accentuate what Daniel Jones does best.
Schoen highlighted Jones' work ethic, arm strength, and rushing ability, and indicated he will sit down with the yet-to-be-hired offensive staff and form a plan to build around what Jones does best. Of course, giving Jones a chance to succeed does not in any way rule out bringing in quarterback competition in the draft. Given their cap situation, though, the Giants seem unlikely to be players in the free agent quarterback market. It's also possible that Schoen sticks with Jones as the clear starter in 2022. Jones remains on his rookie deal through 2022 and the Giants can exercise his fifth year this offseason to keep him under contract through 2023. Jones has a very narrow path to holding onto the Giants starting job in the long term, but it's possible an overhaul of the front office and coaching staff can revive his career.
