Then add that he had a 2.5MIL contract, which is $50MIL less/year than Lamar, is the ceiling still too low. I look at him and think--If Flacco can do this with that pass catching group, why not Watson?

Assuming he's 100% healthy. He's interesting to an extent. And he'll be WAY cheaper going into next season. I did some rough draft rankings, he's currently at QB19. So, I'm not saying I love the guy.

Flacco beat 4 awful teams. Jags with Lawrence coming off a knee injury that really hampered him. Chicago blows, Houston with no Stroud, jets???
Cmon Flacco lovers.
His last 6 quarters has been abysmal.

ok. I think his ceiling is exactly what we had this last month. A good backup who can beat other backups and put up yardage despite not being consistently accurate.
He looked better these few games than he has since 2014.
For a guy that turns 39 tomorrow, it would be great if we could just accept it as a nice way to end a career.

ok. I think his ceiling is exactly what we had this last month. A good backup who can beat other backups and put up yardage despite not being consistently accurate.
He looked better these few games than he has since 2014.

He was great for about 7 quarters- 4th q v Chicago, @ Houston, and the first half v Jets. It was a hell of a hot streak and we all hoped it'd sustain, but what happened was of no surprise. His propensity for throwing picks was going to derail the offense it was just a matter of when. Dude earned himself a new contract though. It'll just be elsewhere.

Miami dodged a huge bullet there. They got the better QB, didn't lose any draft capital, and saved a TON of money in the process. Tyreek Hill is never a Dolphin if Watson would have been.

Side note, I'll still forever argue Brian Flores firing was deserved if for no other reason than his handling of Tua, 3 straight non-playoff seasons also hurts.

Cap be damned, I think Watson is in a make-or-break season. The guy who has played in 2022-2023 is not an NFL starting caliber QB, not even a low-end one. Its been wild, he was a universal top-5 QB after 2020, the guy who has shown up the last 2 seasons, might not be a top-5 QB in the AFC North right now.

Has not but has only played 12 full games after a long layoff, most in bad weather or with a bad shoulder. If things don't turn around this season will be safe to call it a disaster, not at that point yet IMO.

I would argue that TD:INT ratio is one of the most overrated stats in football.....many QB's often have overinflated TD stats because of 1 yard TD passes etc....heck back in the day, you could count on Farve having 10-12 TD's of less then 5 yards...he and GB wanted to pump up his stats....heck he made Bubba Franks startable simply because of that...

it's not a big deal, but my point is QB A could have 30 TD's and 15 INT's.....with 12 of those TD's being 1 yard "passes" that don't really test your skill (ala even Tebow or -OZ- or somebody could hit a wide open Bubba Franks for 1 yard TD after a play fake)...

while QB B could have have the same but only 3 of of his TD's are like 5 yards or less.....just saying how you get those "30" can look a lot different and why I think the TD:INT thing is a little flawed....

kind of the same with INT....like Mahomes shouldn't get credited for the INT that went through Toney's hands against DET in the season opener.... but he did....

so to me it's kind of matters how you got to the TD:INT ratio....more then the final numbers themselves....if 8 of a QB's 15 INT's were actually perfect passes and the fault of the receiver....that kinda matters when giving influence to TD:INT ratio.....again...not a big deal....just sayin

while QB B could have have the same but only 3 of of his TD's are like 5 yards or less.....just saying how you get those "30" can look a lot different and why I think the TD:INT thing is a little flawed....

kind of the same with INT....like Mahomes shouldn't get credited for the INT that went through Toney's hands against DET in the season opener.... but he did....

so to me it's kind of matters how you got to the TD:INT ratio....more then the final numbers themselves....if 8 of a QB's 15 INT's were actually perfect passes and the fault of the receiver....that kinda matters when giving influence to TD:INT ratio.....again...not a big deal....just sayin

I do get a "I'm rich AF and don't give AF" vibe from him. I don't follow the Browns pressers nor do I read much about him.
