QB Deshaun Watson, CLE (2 Viewers)

In dyer need for a QB in superflex, so glad I restrained from trying to pursue Watson and Dimes, both are done.

Dallas has a good defense that is true, but dude has been bad for three years. He's not old, he's had a couple injuries but I really don't know what happened to this guy?
Lack of heart. Well, money and simply being tired of the circus. He looks like he's going through the motions.

still seems odd, plenty of QBs get paid and don't remember seeing this type of drop-off before that wasn't caused by age.

They should be sick over the 3 first round picks and other picks but then ALSO the franchise crippling contract with all the guaranteed money they gave him for no reason too.
All that AND a massive PR hit because of the creepy serial massage thing. I mean, that’s just a bonus at this point right?

Yeesh.

I think the whole year of being destroyed, deservedly, by every media and social media outlet just wore him down.

He looks like, in his heart (even if he doesn't consciously see it) he's playing out the string waiting for Cleveland to cut him. Then he can collect the rest of his quarter bil and ride off into the sunset.

His aura of stink and **** is literally affecting every single player on this roster. The team will be in disarray until he is gone. Those Jameis offseason reports of him being a “leader” now make a lot of sense. Teams respond to leaders. He’s not a leader…just a nepo-baby. I’m out on Cleveland entirely until there are changes…even the defense looked like dogshit yesterday at HOME and that just shouldn’t happen.

The fans deserve better. Stefanski is so good yet here he is.

I do not have Watson shares, but this can be said for many players and teams. It is week one. The issue I have with teams is not playing players in the pre-season. I understand the money involved and the risk of injury, but if your players are not getting live action and feeling the speed of a real game, you can expect letdowns in week one.

I'm not going to panic yet. I will if he looks like this for another couple of weeks or vs we
Why? You definitely should be panicking.
Why should I panic after a one-game sample against a top defense? He's had zero game reps, too. I'll start panicking in a few weeks if he doesn't improve.
If you aren't panicking about Watson yet, then you just never will.
It's not like it was just this one game.

I don't think he cares. They should have pulled him for Winston just to give him some kind of motivation.

I suspect this is going to be the pattern all season. At least they didn't over pay for Aiyuk to run around and not be thrown the ball.

I don’t think they have the same quality of massage therapists in Cleveland as they do in Houston and that is affecting his play.

At this point the Browns need to just get him away from their locker room.

The allegation here is violent sexual assault.

I certainly don't want to defend Watson, but it looks like it allegedly happened in October of 2020. That's a long time to wait considering his name has been in the news for sexual assault. The item doesn't mention criminal charges. Certainly that should be a concern. I think he's entitled to his chance to defend here.

Does last year not count?
Are we playing that game? Does four years ago count? Five?

He was elite years ago, but his sample size since returning is tiny. Is he washed? Recency bias says yes. I'll wait until later in the season before throwing in the towel. You can't get anything of value for him anyway.

*The mob is unrelentless

He has started 13 of his 67 games since returning (approx 20%). The sample size is valid.

There are some times the universe pays back and the Browns org got theirs. They went in with eyes wide open and woooooooh boy.

First, Watson is clearly washed. The reality is that he has had 3 good seasons since 2017.

It's honestly hard to remember how good he actually was as it's been so long since we watched strong play from him. So going by a more objective (if imperfect metric), QBR, he was the 13, 12, and 7th ranked QB in QBR during his best seasons. For me this fits - for all the hype a QB at that level should not be helming a 4-12 team. He was a boom-bust QB who traded big plays for lots of sacks.

In terms of fantasy, which doesn't really punish negative stats especially sacks, he was 4th or 5th best. His closest FF performer is actually 2018-2020 Russell Wilson.

My point is, Watson was a talented if overhyped QB in real football. In fantasy, he was the 5th best QB his best years but is many years (and many allegations) removed from that. There is almost no way to see consistently elite play from him ever again at this point.

Haslam family clowned themselves and now they get to eat it. I feel bad for Browns fans.

It’s amazing that People defended the Browns decision making with the trade and contract.
It isn’t over yet of course but ya think the GM would undo this if he could?

Considering everything we know does that matter?

From just a football perspective put yourself in that building. In that locker room. There are men in there that clearly want nothing to do with this guy being their QB. How do you look them in the eye and keep starting him?

Just rid your team of the cancer and move on.
