QB Deshaun Watson, CLE (14 Viewers)

Heard a bunch of people say "Stefanski was losing the lockeroom" by sticking with Watson. This does not sound like that at all.
I don't know how representative Garrett's comments are. At that stage, having played with a guy, you're not ripping him just after he had a serious injury.

I had a friend who played in a Grey Cup (Canadian Super Bowl, but going for over a 100 years) and the future HoF running back on the team was going around to the team and telling them they'd better not **** up the game because he wanted his bonus and incentive check. He was pissed at the thought of losing that money and the game hadn't even started :ROFLMAO:

You lose the locker room because guys are losing money and future opportunities. That doesn't affect Garrett one iota.
Wasn’t Garrett the one who swung a helmet at Mason Rudolph?

Not sure he’s exactly the SME on what makes a “model citizen”.
Rudolph was running at him to fight with two other Steelers surrounding him. I'll give Myles a pass on that one
My Lord, You don’t get a pass for ripping a helmet off an opponent and using the helmet to strike him in the head.

I honestly thought at first you were referring to the monster truck called Grave Digger

Damn, I'd forgotten about that play. Even worse than I remember. Dirty play to begin with from Garrett, trying to injure the QB long after play is over. Then rips off his helmet and starts swinging...

I guess being a POS is just a current Browns culture thing.

LOL. New reworked deal has Watson with a $200 million salary for 2029, guaranteed if he is on the roster on the third day of the 2027 calendar season.

do you have a link for this? I see an $89 million hit in 2027 and it now has void years so that they can spread out the hit.
I see that florio is reporting it. Not sure if I totally believe that and if it is being spun that way, I’m not sure that it matters

So, he’s cut day 2 of 2027.
Good luck browns fans. Although they could draft Cam Ward. It seems really unlikely for Sanders to accept being drafted by them.

True. But Giants probably want Ward at 1.
It will be interesting to see how those two get drafted.

Daniel Oyefusi
Deshaun Watson had a setback in his recovery from his torn Achilles tendon rehab, Browns GM Andrew Berry said. This will delay his recovery, per Berry. Still too early to say on a return timetable.

I don't think this really changes anything to be honest. He will probably never play a down again for them either way.

Probably setting up the 25 season on IR so that CLE can recoup some of that money via insurance.

Hey guys, he got paid. Isn’t that what it was all about?

Oh, you mean he’s a disgrace on and off the field? Gee, when you put it that way.

I hope Deshaun got what he wanted.

Myles Garrett is the biggest piece of **** going in the NFL. He not only tried to brain the guy with a helmet, he alluded to there being racism involved without ever officially saying that about Rudolph. Never mind Pouncey is right there and probably would not have started kicking and punching Garrett if that had happened right next to him.

Most disgusting play I’ve ever seen in football and Myles Garrett getting Juju’d like Vontaze Burfict should never be too far from his mind.

I mean, I somewhat agree but what’s the connection? This ain‘t about Garrett.

Garrett was mentioned more than once upthread on this very page. But you’re right. This is about Watson. It was just an aside that I thought was relevant to the conversation people were having. I think he’s (Garrett) mentioned in about five posts or so.

Fair enough. I didn’t scroll up. I think we can agree that both are POS.

I think he just did the Browns a favor
Guaranteed contract.
Insurance likely saves them $46m, still got another $100 million left to deal with.

That's got to be the most disheartening thing about this if you are a Browns fan. After all this time since the trade, they've only accounted for $84M of the $230M they owe him.

But no doubt the injuries are a godsend and I'll give the Browns some credit. Good on them for paying for the insurance, good on them for not pulling the plug on Watson which of course by enabling him to play helped lead to the injury. They made this horrible bed, and I understand why and don't really pile on them like most, but at least a little save here.

Looks like their drafting QB
In a bad year to need a QB.
well luckily they pick 2nd, they'll get either Ward or Sanders, prob too high but don't think they have much of a choice, there's just not many options as you said. and this is the low cost option which is quite beneficial to them.
I view it as up in the air myself that they'd take a QB at 2. Would say the same thing for Giants, Raiders and some other QB needy teams picking at the top. Titans at least just need to fall in love with one of them enough so they got better odds.

Gotta think with the stink he’s already made well before the draft order was known that Deion isn’t letting his kid get anywhere near this franchise.

thought they had backtracked on those comments but looks like were made again recently, didn't name the teams wouldn't play for but yeah good point, Cleveland could very well be one of them

I don't think anyone has ever come back from two Achilles tears.
I remember Akers and Rodgers articles and that's where my memory stops.

I think it's possible there's a forced retirement- no I want to play- debate in Cleveland

He’ll never play another snap in the league again. Good riddance.
I don't think we've seen the last of him.
I’d agree if we are speaking of any form of accusations against him, regardless if they’re valid or not. But no chance of him as any form of QB in the NFL. The baggage combined with his terrible play…..not to mention as second Achilles rupture means he’s done.

He’s more done than anybody has ever been done.
"He's more done to me than his done mother!"

Guy was cooked a year ago. The off field stuff and the missed season already had him looking like a different player. 2nd injury just cements it. He's extra crispy now instead of original recipe, but was already fried.

I will continue to say this will be proven incorrect.
