I think it is a fair trade.  Goff had a good 2017 and has a good start to 2018. I have Goff and Rodgers. I need an RB and am shopping Rodgers. Everyone wants Goff instead. Amazing. 

Not budging on it because it's a one keeper league and I can keep Goff for an 11th rounder next year (AR would cost me a 2nd, so no way I'm keeping him.)

I probably would have kept Miller (It is 1 QB start league) but three reasons led me to go for this: 1, Miller's shoulder injury could be a serious setback and a setback in a rookie year can derail a career or be a harbinger of future injuries; 2) I am no longer a believer in Trubisky; 3) Allen Robinson will overshadow and take WR1 looks for a long time.

I cant argue with any of those points except maybe that #1 isnt a huge deal. i don't expect a lot of these rookie wrs to contribute until 2019 or 2020. points 2 and 3 I completely agree. it could definitely work in your favor as Goff is a top 3 qb for the next decade potentially. I own Miller, along with several.other rookie wrs, and I'm not sure what I would do... initially Miller seems like my choice but the more I think about it, considering my team, I'd probably do it.

I really like Miller and would not be surprised if he is the best WR in this class someday. But I also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't become anything more than a low WR2. And as you say, I do see Goff as a top 3 QB going forward. His throws look so accurate and crisp and he is hitting receivers in stride. Plus he has a good team around him and good coaching. It feels like he and Mahomes could be the top QBs of the next generation. My other QB is Brees and as great as he has played, I would not be surprised to see him retire at the end of this season.

I like the trade for you. I never understood the Miller love in fantasy circles. He's an old rookie playing opposite a talented, young WR with a questionable QB. As for Goff, the only question in my mind about him was if they would allow him enough pass attempts to be a top 6 QB. Thanks to his precision and talent of his surrounding cast, it appears he doesn't actually need 600 PA to be top 6. I'm honestly not sure who I would rather have as a dynasty QB. Mahomes is probably the only real contender, but with Woods, Kupp, Cooks, and Gurley all signed for a long time, I like Goff's situation the best. 

So I know it's hard to trade anything of value for a QB in 1QB leagues, at least you're set for the next 15 years. One less thing to worry about with team management. 

 
I have him in 2 leagues and not looking to move him, but I may bench him this week for Matt Ryan vs PIT and :oldunsure:  Bortles vs KC just because of how god-awful those pass defenses have been.

Although SEA is probably more vulnerable now with Earl Thomas gone.

I can see Matt Ryan for sure but I don't think I would put in the unpredictable Bortles.  Per above, note who Seattle D has played passing offense wise.. Goff will shred again IMO.

The Seahawks have been respectable defensively to start the season, but have faced Case Keenum, Mitchell Trubisky, Dak Prescott and Josh Rosen while they’ve just lost Earl Thomas.

I'm trying to decide between Watson and Goff. Leaning Watson. Anybody think the game will get out of hand and it'll be the Gurley show?

I'm not sure that matters. Gurley had a season high of 23 carries vs the Chargers and Goff still went for 354 and 3 TDs. Against AZ it was a blowout, Gurley got 19 carries and Goff still got 354/1. Don't think McVay's the type of coach to ease up with a lead on the road in the division either.

Pretty sure I'm starting Goff over Rodgers (no Adams/Cobb/Allison and with the Lions D currently 5th in fantasy points against by QBs). Seattle's D is hurting.

This thread started 3+ years ago.  In that time, he was drafted 1st overall, bombed his first season and then came thru with a very solid (even better than solid) 2nd season.  Only a little over 10 pages up until 9/23.  Last week alone has seen 2+ pages. 

People wanting to talk about Goff for really the first time.

I was actually more optimistic about Goff's prospects coming out of college than I was about Aaron Rodgers. At Cal, Rodgers hadn't really shown the kind of dynamism that he has in the NFL (which is partly why he dropped to late in the first round).

They're very different QBs, anyway, but I really had little doubt about Goff's pro prospects coming out of college. He had all of the tools of a modern NFL passer. It just took someone to understand that being a modern NFL passer doesn't mean running the offense the way Joe Montana did.

That's an interesting take because some of the pinpoint passes he's made this season remind me of Rodgers. Insanely accurate at times......

One thing we learned for sure, that person was not Jeff Fisher.  

 
Jared Goff completed 14-of-28 passes for 201 yards, zero touchdowns and an interception in the Rams' 23-20, Week 6 win over the Broncos.

Goff had his first scoreless start of the season as the Rams gutted the Broncos on the ground. He now has just one touchdown and three picks over his past two starts, both Rams victories. Today's giveaway came on a twice-tipped pass. There has been little overt reason for alarm. It just seems to be the normal ebbs and flows of a fantasy campaign. Goff nearly received some awful news this afternoon when Cooper Kupp appeared to shred his knee, but he miraculously returned after the break. Goff will remain a locked-in QB1 for Week 7 against the 49ers.

Anyone else think Goff is in for a monster week this week, like potential #1 overall QB? His 2 best games have come when the Rams played at home, against teams who could keep up with them in the Vikings/Chargers. 

I think these next 4 weeks against GB, NO, Sea, and KC, are going to be a big boom for the Rams passing game, and perhaps Goff's MVP candidacy.

Yup.  And Gurley needs to share the wealth in the TD department a bit.

Game script.  Team is so balanced that it’s going to be what the other team is giving them.  Some weeks that will need to be Goff other weeks not so much.

Ah, no.  One could argue he’s the most important receiver (outside of Gurleys receiving value).  He’s the position guy, leads the team in red zone targets by a mile (he’s one of the league leaders over the past 2 years) and has the best chemistry with Goff.  Kupp is a stud plain and simple.

Big fan of Kupp's, and would 100% agree he's not a system WR, he'd be good almost anywhere, but the most important WR is easily Cooks. He's the guy keeping safeties deep, he's the guy causing Gurley to see 6-man boxes, even though he's on pace to set the NFL TD record, and he's the guy clearing out for Kupp and Woods to get favorable matchups underneath. He's arguably the 2nd most important player on the offense(after Goff, and ahead of Gurley) and he's been worth both the 1st round pick(all 3 that he has been acquired with in his career) and the big contract. Both the Saints and Patriots have have missed his presence, and to their credit, due to having excellent QB/HC's adjusted their offenses accordingly, almost any other teams would have been crippled trying to replace a guy like Cooks, who i believe is a top-10 NFL WR, even if that doesn't always show up fantasy wise.

All that said, I think Goff would still have success minus any of these guys. He and McVay are on a wavelength that few QB's and HC's ever get on. That alone makes Goff a QB1 fantasy wise, but with the level of weapons he has, he's a threat for QB1 overall with even a minor tweak in redzone playcalling. Its very telling that even when inside the 10, teams still play 6-man boxes against Gurley because they are more afraid of Goff.

I'm a little off topic as to the post I'm replying to here, but I think Goff is a huge buy low guy in dynasty right now. He's not cheap, but getting him now, might be like getting Brees in 2006, when people mistakenly thought he was playing at his ceiling. What Goff is doing right now, feels a lot like his floor, and its still a quality QB1.

I wanted to post the same thing but it wasn't worth the fight. Kupp is good but can be replaced easier. Goff>Cooks>Gurley> then the rest........

Good post. Nothing you said I passionately disagree with, with the exception of order of importance (love Goff but Gurley is the cornerstone of this O). It’s a bit like someone asking you to pick your favorite child. A solid case can be made for Cooks, Woods, Kupp and clearly Gurley. 

I’m a massive Cooks fan and was ecstatic when we traded for him and signed him long-term. Elite talent, without question. But while the field stretching wide receiver is super important in McVay system Sammy showed last yr that you don’t need a top 10 wide receiver in that position for Gurley, Woods or Kupp to be very successful, just someone the D respects, which Cooks clearly is (also to be clear Cooks does more than just stretch the field but that’s his primary role). For me Kupps value in the red zone and the fact that he’s the person that Goff looks too when under pressure or needs a big catch says everything about his order of importance that needs to be said. 

I absolutely co-sign everything you said about Goff. Stud and a perfect marriage with McVay.

I was pretty conflicted about this game for a number of reasons. I was starting Rodgers on my fantasy team, and I'd like to see Green Bay win more than the Rams. But it's fun to see a great duel between two QBs out of Cal, both of whom had good but not great games. It's clear that Goff is fortunate to have a much better team around him, but he also threw 3 TDs and drove for what turned out to be the game-winning score.

After a #######' Stanfrauder fumbled the kickoff return. You had one job, Montgomery. 

The Rams are going to cruise into the playoffs, and they're the odds-on favorite for the Super Bowl at this point. Great defense, best RB in the league, and a talented young QB. Will Goff be up for the pressure? I'd expect so; he's under way less pressure than he was at Cal, leading a team that was mostly terrible.

I like Reynolds but 4 catches 61 yrds and 2 TD’s in 2 games is hardly amazing.

I’m the one trying to lead you to the water. I’ve watched every snap for the Rams the last 10+ years and been to live practice’s.    Giving you first hand experience.  But hey your loss.  Keep on doubting Kupp.
