QB Joe Burrow, CIN (5 Viewers)

Odds are they will be out of it week 15/16 when he may be able to comeback. He'll either not be ready or shut down if ready. Yes, they are 2-0 but they'll most likely be 2-4 in 25 days
Browning looked pretty competent/capable last year. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go .500 without Burrow. Tough division though.
I take it back. Browning is a chump who sucks more than any suck has sucked a suck. lol

Agree to Agree about Agreeing.

Glass Joe
He's not made of glass but i understand the joke
They can't protect him
Glass ownership. He can't escape this franchise soon enough.
I don't think he can get until 2030 unless he demands a trade. I think a lot of this is just Joe. He was getting hurt long before he became a Bengal. At Ohio State, he broke his hand and had surgery. He tore rib cartilidge at LSU. He likes to hold the ball and look for big plays which also means he is going to take hits. But I think some of his injuries have come on rather mundane players. This foot injury wasn't some brutal hit. He was bouncing around, trying to extend the play and in the process of being tackled a defender just fell on his foot funny.

We can blame Cincinnati ownership (and I'm up for ripping cheap billionaires) but Joe went out of his way for both Tee and Ja'Marr and their contracts. He had to know what he was advocating for. It's a zero-sum game at times. You take that money from somewhere and it does not go into the offensive line.

I think Ilov80s makes a good point also. Joe has a really, really high sack rate and holds the ball a long, long time back there.

So...if you pick up Flacco for one of your wait-on-a-QB type teams and are counting on him in the ff playoffs...does this mean ya probably shouldn't?

IMO it depends.

If the Bengals are in the playoff hunt I can see Burrow playing, if able.

If the Bengals are out of it by then, why bring him back?

Interesting, that would be a shaky spot... understanding fully that Burrow is Burrow but if Flacco is able to resurrect this squad to a playoff position, it would seem risky to remove him while Burrow ramps back up, regular season wise

So if the Bengals are in the hunt you would start Flacco over a healthy Burrow?

I give that a 0% chance of happening regardless of how Flacco plays.

Week 17 he's back, first game back, Flacco has gotten from 2-4 to 8-8, I go to a guy who has sat for 3 months? As opposed to Flacco who lets say is executing them ostensibly functionally,

Playoffs are semi- house money, you go to Burrow

To get in... you go back to Burrow? You better win that game if you do or you'll face a lot of second guessing going away from the guy in rhythm.

Yes. Absolutely.

No way I bench a healthy top 3 QB in the league for a 40 year old journeyman at this point.

If you lose with Burrow IMO it’s defendable.

If you lose with Flacco, and Burrow was healthy, IMO it’s fireable.

Is this conjecture on your part based on "Mid-December" or has someone pinpointed that particular week?

No real firm conjecture at all

If they fall out of it, I can't see putting Burrow out for a game, 2, 3 behind that line. I mean I guess 3 games.

If there's a question to bring him back its because they're alive.

There's no way they sit Burrow if he's 100%. Just the fallout, alone, would make it prohibitive. Imagine losing with Flacco while Burrow was healthy. Lose with Burrow? There'll still be some Monday morning coaches yapping if you lose, but it's much better than the alternative.

Now, what would actually be better as far as on the field? First, are we assuming Flacco keeps this up? He's certainly not going to throw for 300/3 every game. I mean, Burrow doesn't do that. The only question would be if Burrow could overcome any potential rust in a critical game. For me, that's not nearly enough of a concern to sit him for a guy like Flacco. With the mid-December timeline in mind, a week 16 return against Miami would be ideal to let Burrow get tuned up.

What if Flacco goes on a record-breaking streak? Well...I guess that could change things, but the chance of that happening is slim to none and Slim left town.

No, I meant the week in particular of his return.

100% Burrow's job when he's healthy. If Flacco hasn't lost a single game when Burrow is healthy, its still Burrow's job. Not even a real conversation. Frank Reich led the greatest playoff comeback in NFL history, then easily won the next game. It didn't matter. He wasn't getting Jim Kelly's job.
