QB Joe Burrow, CIN (5 Viewers)

If you already had Flacco would you drop Daniels for Burrow? I like Daniels' upside with the rushing more than Burrow's, but it is "cleaner" to have both Cincy QBs because you don't have to worry about when Burrow comes back, you just play whoever plays. I guess I just answered my own question, lol.

For this season? It sounds like it might be a wrap on Daniels for the season so yeah that might be the upside play. I mean the Bengals game plan is pretty much to try and win 45-42 every week. If there are keeper league implications it might depend on the rules for that (like say it is a cheap pick next year to keep Daniels, you can't keep Burrow because he is FA pickup, whatever) but no more byes for the Bengals so I would say do it

Yes, straight redraft, no keepers. It's purely about trying to make the playoffs and catch lightning in a bottle once there.

Whoah.

What exactly does that mean? I know that means he's practicing with the starters, but is that something you only do at a certain stage of recovery?
I take it to mean Burrow isn't taking no for an answer and will be playing again this season and rather soon.
Interesting. Hopefully that happens as long as he's good to go.

We all know the Bengals are a poorly run franchise, bringing Burrow back to play now in a lost season is not very intelligent
especially when he is not 100%

He won't be able to move like normal, he could get injured some other way, they should just sit him out for the season get
a good draft pick and move on to next season

Playing him now is not the smart move at all

Counterargument: what if he is healed? I think if he's healthy, why not start him, even in a lost season? Maybe they play spoiler down the stretch. They have games against NE, Bal (x2) and Buf all of those could have big ramifications for those teams.

Yeah, if he's like 50% healed, obviously starting him would be dumb, but I don't see a good reason to not play him just because he was hurt, if he's healthy. Same applies to Jayden Daniels for me.

If he's not healthy I'd bet most of the world would agree he should not be messing with playing.

But for the Bengals franchise I can understand it as long as they are mathematically alive. Right now they are 3 games from a playoff spot.

It sounds to me like he's coming back next week but if he can't go until week 14 and they lose the next two games, then I am wondering if they re-assess the situation? I feel like they would but also wonder how much deference they will give to Burrow, who they seem to do whatever he wants, so if he tells them he wants to play I'm thinking no one is going to stop him.

Yea we have no idea if he is not 100%. Also the Steeler are leading the division at 6-4 and not a very good team. Baltimore is in 2nd at 5-5 and also not a particularly good team.

He is not healed with what he had done. He has to wear a steel plate in his shoe, that's not healed

He is good enough but he is no where near 100% healed and healthy with what he had surgery for

The chance of reinjury is very much there.

Practicing in full today sounds like he's coming back this weekend, unless there's a midweek setback. Thinking best to let him sit a week for fantasy, but some of us may be feeling desperate, especially in start 2QB leagues.

If hes fully healed there are literally 7 games left which is 41% of the season. Sitting him out just because its a lost season would be a slap in the face to their fans, nfl fans and his teammates.

A-men to that

So much for Burrow starting this week. Too bad redraft don't have 1 IR spot now a lot of good teams if they were avg at QB now have added Burrow.

He struggled to start the year so we will see what happens.

I was planning on picking up Burrow for cheap in a lot of leagues after week 10 because I had to replace Aubrey in about 30 redraft leagues and was going to cut my 2nd kicker.

Then a report came out of nowhere that Monday he was practicing and I ended up having to pay a lot of FAB to get him and missed him in a few.

Clearly I was way more interested then most as I spent from $177 to $350 pending on how much I had left.

I got him in about 80% of the leagues some of them I way over bid like $220 to $21.

Most just were not interested in Burrow for 1 reason or another. I got outbid once when a guy went $642 which was what I had.

The dynamics in redraft high stakes with injuries is always interesing.

Mike Evans is another such player currently in the who knows situation and sitting out there in some leagues.

The problem I see with Burrow for ROS is at what point do the Bengals realize their season is over and why trot him out there.

We’re very close to there being no upside to playing him other than “he wants to play”.

Once he is back I don't see him being shut down players play to play football not sit on the bench when healthy.

He is either deemed healthy or he isn't.

Maybe he sits out week 18 but I think once he is back he is back unless he re-injuries it.

On Evans, definitely looking to put him in my IR slot.

Things you don't have to worry about in FFPC redraft because Burrow and Evans were blocked after they were cut.

I expected it with Evans and was not interested in him. Burrow I'd have gone heavy on, but was surprised he was blocked from being able to be picked up.

This is why I don't play FFPC redraft anymore except the 1 super satellite I always play.

FFPC does a lot of things different than the NFFC and RTS and I don't like any of them so I quit a few years ago.

I used to play 20+ FFPC redraft a year including several main events. Hate most of everything they do with redraft from all play in week 6 instead of 1 to the blocking of players dropped starting week 11 to Sunday 11 AM waivers to bye weeks during their championship game. None it makes sense if they want to block out collusion do what the NFFC and RTS does don't block everyone.

RTS blocks 1st and 2nd round picks from being picked up. NFFC has a no drop on certain list of players but when they get injured like Burrow they lift it.

I wonder just how many people have ever tried to collude I get the risk but it but tough to do with FAB.

Sad too because I used to enjoy the FFPC but I will stick with Dynasty there.

Sure if you have one but we don't in high stakes redraft.

Its amazing how many people dont understand this year after year.

Big fan of Sunday 11 am waivers myself, with you on the all play week and bye week during playoffs being issues I wish they'd address. The All Play in week 6 is particularly obstinate IMO because it's so easy to fix, just no need for not having it in week 1 because of the retro-active points.

I'm actually in favor of blocking players cut after week 11 in a 12 week regular season. Though QB's being what they are, in short supply, I would prefer they were treated like K's and D's and only a very select few were blocked.

I doubt many people have actually attempted to collude with FAB but it would not be very difficult to pull off so fully understand and support safeguards. Also just past collusion is a lot of apathy sets in the last week or two for a bunch of eliminated teams. I just don't think people picking up players who are rage cut or taking advantage of an apathetic league that checked out on working the waiver wire and that allowing those teams fortunate to be in those leagues and still alive a competitive advantage.

My only issue with the Burrow block is it's not consistent and I don't like inconsistency. The rule is supposed to be players with ADP inside the top 48 are blocked and I can't find a time period where that fit Burrow, was close, but a ADP was always in that early 5th round range.

I'll be interested in the FFPC championship rounds how many teams alive kept Burrow. Only one team out of my 23 redraft leagues kept him and that team is not a playoff team. Ownership will be super low, and that kind of makes him even more valuable to any fortunate team that kept him and is still alive. Lucky SOB's. I cut him on the two teams I drafted him but those happened to be my worst teams in both contests so does not matter.
