Its polarizing. Many people still think the is a gimmick and are equating his NFL potential with his fantasy potential. I have no idea if he will end up a good NFL QB but he is gold for fantasy purposes.

It's because people aren't good at math and all they see is that he's not an amazing pocket passer. I waited to be the last guy to take his first QB in 2/3 leagues and then happily drafted LJ. The math from Tagliare: "He’s thrown just four touchdowns over his last five games, but he’s rushed for 450 yards and three touchdowns in that time. For those counting at home, that much rushing production is equivalent to 15.8 passing touchdowns. Would you be starting a pocket passer who has thrown for 19.8 touchdowns over the last five games?"
Tagliare also points out that the Patriots D has not been good at stopping running QBs. I'm starting him over Darnold vs MIA in one league and I think I'm going back to him over Josh Allen vs WAS in the other league, but that one is a lot more tempting.

My opponent this week picked up Sam Darnold and is benching Jackson against the patriots.
personally, I would never do that. I would roll out Jaxson and see how he goes even against a very good defense. at the very least, he should generate points with his legs.
but yeah, this is a guy who has won my league before and is definitely not a bad fantasy manager.

In my IDP league, quarterbacks get 1/3 of a point for completion… Garoppolo was a 50 point quarterback this week on the bench.
seems like nobody trusted that match up for various reasons.

Starting him with confidence. Pats can only play it so many ways... try to stop his running (lol) ok Marquise Brown and Mark Andrews are there. Flood the lanes to stop his passing? He's off to the races with Mark Ingram.
Pats secondary is exceptional. They can lock up Hollywood with Gilmore and probably put Chung on Andrews (who has actually been a bit of a bum lately dropping passes). If the likes of a Boykin can beat them, Bill will take that.
NE is going to do everything possible to force Jackson to actually throw the ball and do so by making his third read.
Just don't see a ceiling game here at all.

Yes, Pat Pete. I'm not sure you're benching him because one guy came back, though he is an All-Pro at DB twice.
I don't know. I don't think he's as intimidating at twenty-nine as some of the younger guys are, but I'll leave that to personal tastes. If I had Garoppolo and another middle-of-the-road guy, I'd have gone Garoppolo, though I can see why you wouldn't if you had other top guys starting. Then that's fine.

I agree, but it’s not like Garoppolo have been tearing it up… The 49ers were winning with huge efforts from their ground game. So I kind of understand why some people would have left him on the bench this week despite the soft matchup. This really was JimmyG’s breakout game of the year.
heck, I dropped him in week two. The FF production just wasn’t there

Yeah, I'll backtrack on that. The 49ers are the most run-heavy team in the league, it's Thursday, Jimmy has not been tearing it up fantasy-wise, etc.
I can totally see it. Mea culpa on speaking off of the cuff.
I don't think they will be able to both play man on man defense and stop Jackson from running. Harbaugh has had two weeks to prepare for this game. That being said, I will be happy with a 20 point game from Lamar.
I didn't expect a monster game from Jimmy G but I expected a very solid game. You knew Kittle would go off. He actually has a real WR with Sanders now. Playing against a terrible defense and a team that runs a ton of plays.

I did, too. It's just everyone's mindset and expectations are different, as are their situations. I said it was a mistake to sit him without thinking about his or her other options at QB. If you've already got a top ten guy or guys going, then I can totally see sitting him.

The guy I am playing against pulled him at the last second and put in Daniel Jones. I knew that was a big mistake immediately.

When you're just pretty good, it's OK to get tackled and take some hits. When you've become a complete stud, you have to make sure that you stay on the field.

I don’t think he can hold up running this much. He was taking hits last night. I mean just getting regular tackled by a 275 lbs linebacker is rough on a QB. He’s not a Cam Newton sized guy and look at Cam now. His body seems to be breaking down. Just a hard way to earn a living as a QB I think. And yes, one giant hit away from catastrophe.
Revising to he's a keeper until he gets hurt. Just hand it to Ingram like this every week. He won't last as long as Cam. Remember Bob Griffin the 3rd. They were having about him once upon a time. Then he got jacked up.

If you added up all the QB hits taken last night, do you think Lamar absorbed that many more than Brady? The goal line run was tough and I remember him taking one other big hit from a LB, but he was hardly touched in the pocket and Brady took almost as many big shots as Lamar.

He doesn't run anything like Cam. Cam absorbed big hits (including standing in the pocket). The Super Bowl alone probably took a few years off of Cam's career. Jackson doesn't run dangerously. He avoids big contact and doesn't get squared up for big hits. The biggest hits he takes is when he stays in the pocket. Cam sought out contact and punished smaller DB's. It is a totally different style that lead to more contact and bigger hits.
Jackson has awareness when running that allows him to avoid devastating hits. Can it happen? Sure...everyone is subject to big hits but his running style doesn't look for it and he is very good at what he does. Contrast that to RG3 where he always took big hits because he didn't have the same awareness.

Cam was a lot bigger but he also was way more physical of a runner. Lamar wins with speed and quicks, Cam was often used like a bulldozer. Cam has had a good run. 10 years, 3 Pro Bowls, 1MVP and a SB appearance. So even if Lamar has a shortened overall career due to wear and tear, it will be well worth it if is able to come close to what Cam has done for real football and fantasy.
RG3 tore his knee twice, that’s not really coming from being worn down from running so much but just a combo of bad luck and potentially genetic flaws. Any player who is running around on the field could tear their acl. I don’t have any reason to think Lamar is at more risk of that than anyone else.
