QB Mac Jones, SF (1 Viewer)

You're allowed to grab someone's leg and sweep their other leg with your leg?

The play looked kind of dirty/dangerous to me, but I'm not up in arms about it or anything.

As usual though Pat fans will defend anything their team does no matter what. I guess the loyalty is admirable but sometimes it's nice to deal in reality.
AFAIK, when the ball is on the turf, it’s anything goes. Jones grabbed his ankle and in the scrum afterwards they got tangled up and the defender got twisted and fell over. It’s unfortunate that he got injured. But I have yet to see anyone or the league state there should have been a penalty on Jones. I’d have the same opinion if Darnold did the same thing to Judon. It has nothing to do with being a Patriots fan. Grabbing, holding, and way more than that goes on during a fumble. It will be interesting to see if the league, refs, or former officials chime in on this one.

I'm not a pats fan and I can't see why this is a big deal.  Even if he doesn't think he has the ball he knows the ball is loose and I would way rather take the penalty than let that guy run in it for a td.  It's a smart play on his part

Pats fan here - It looks dirty but doubtful his intent was to injure, worthy of a fine at most. I bet if you put all loose ball scrums under a microscope like this you'd see something similar or worse happening on all of them. We're only seeing a zoom-in on this because of the injury.

Agree, if you can break his ankle, you do it.  Rupture would be even better.

He's being coached up; it's working already.

dirty play!  you homers are kidding yourself if you really see that as a normal football play/tackle.
I cannot speak for anyone else, but if you think I am a Patriots homer, I have some beachfront property in Oklahoma to sell you.

Exactly.  More ex-players than I can count have said everything dirty under the sun goes on in those scrums when there is a fumble and a pile of players, but now we are supposed to be upset because a defensive player got his leg twisted a little? Come on, now.

Burns Vagina might hurt. Give that guy some vaginal cream.
Why do you use the organ of a woman as a way of insulting a man?  I've noticed that you have done this before. Do you think women are weak, because that seems to be what you are implying Burns is by saying he has a vagina.

Guy didn’t want him to run get fumble lost ball.

Would you have a qb that says… #### go for it?

I like what he did. Guy at least wants win.

You want more? What’s your team?

No. Women aren’t weak. They are stronger then us. If not for a women, then you and I would never exist.

It was intentional.

Mac might  not try it Sunday facing this GUY
Myles Garrett says he won’t give Patriots QB Mac Jones chance to grab his leg following incident vs. Panthers

... Garrett leads the league with 12 sacks. He likes handing out the rookie treatment and won’t spare Jones.

“A rookie anything. It could be a rookie receiver, a running back, a tight end, a quarterback, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “I want to get my hands on him and show him that things are different on this level. I want to show him that it’s all fun and games, but these guys are real out here, especially in Cleveland.”

Mac Jones completed 22-of-26 passes for 207 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in New England's 25-0 Week 11 win over Atlanta.

Jones' touchdown came on a pass where the entirety of the Atlanta defense vacated coverage responsibilities of Nelson Agholor over the middle. Jones took two big sacks in Atlanta territory that really hurt New England's chances of putting the game completely out of reach, but otherwise continued to keep up the numbers and winning that have bolstered his reputation over the first 11 games of his career. Week 12 will bring a game Titans secondary to town, and Jones likely won't be a recommended start in fantasy leagues.

I was wrong.  Even though Jones doesn't have the running chops, he is a lot more accurate than I gave him credit for in assessing him coming into the draft and being on the Patriots doesn't hurt either.  Over the last few years I seem to not evaluate QBs very well.  Good thing I don't play SuperFlex.  Hell, I dropped Herbert in one league before his breakout.   I suppose we all screw up like that with players from time to time, but crap, that was bad.  As was my evaluation of Jones.  So, I either have to get better at evaluating QBs or quit doing it altogether.   Point in case, I have Spencer Rattler on one of my devy teams, LOL.  Not to beat myself up too much, I do pretty well overall, but not so much at QB.

Jones  is also willing to stay in the pocket until the moment before a big hit and still make an accurate pass. That was evident from game 1 vs Miami. His overall passing accuracy is great, look at the 15 yard perfect pass last night to a well-covered Henry. Even the INT on the long pass was on target. I think Jones must be very good at making presnap reads and post-snap progressions because he seems to go to guys who are open alot, although some of that could be Josh McDaniels. His arm strength and mobility aren't great, less than a young Brady, but he and not Tua might be the next Brees. With speed WRs in the future, Jones, like Brees with Cooks and Stills, will become even better.

Chris Simms had Jones rated 3rd behind Wilson and Lawrence, and ahead of Mond, Fields and Lance.  Based on what I've seen I'd rate them Fields, Lawrence, Jones, Wilson, Mond, and Lance. It's still early, but Simms may have missed on Wilson and Fields. Fields has shown flashes of QB excellence on multiple occasions, more and more as the season goes on.

Here is Simms pre-draft take on Jones:

>> "He's a lot better than I thought. He's just an absolute machine throwing the football. His arm isn't as powerful as Trevor Lawrence's or Zach Wilson's, but his arm is more powerful than Joe Burrow's. Now, he's not the athlete and can't make the plays Burrow did avoiding blitzes and running, but Jones has unbelievable feet, really quick in the pocket. I think he is a top-10 pick. I have no doubt about that. His ability to go through reads and process information and get onto the next guy is as good as I've seen the last few years. It's up there with Joe Burrow."<<

I would still rank Lance over Jones for FF purposes.  He has a strong arm and has the rushing ability.  That is important for FF.    I would rank them Lance, Lawrence, Jones, Wilson, then Fields.  I'm not even considering Monds.

Think Shanahan is going to regret deeply taking Lance over this guy.

Jones is making better decisions in his rookie year than some QBs who have been floating around for years.

I originally wanted NE to trade up and take Fields. Didn't want them trying to basically do the "Brady thing" all over again.

So far, I think I was significantly incorrect on Mac Jones.

I think Fields will improve over time, much like Allen did in Buffalo. He already has a faster trajectory to excellence than Allen did, because of accuracy passing, at least based on the games I've seen.
