This is in the context of stretching the field a little more than the Falcons did in 2024, something they struggled to do at times with Kirk Cousins under center. The Athletic’s Josh Kendall also adds “The coaching staff won’t ask Penix to curtail his aggressiveness. In fact, it’s the trait they are most excited about.” A more balanced offensive approach could raise all ships in Atlanta — and it’s something that might be necessary for them as they try to stave off regression with almost no new players added to the room

My advice on Penix...be careful.

Falcons are a desperate organization IMO and NEED Penix to be successful for people to keep their jobs. That's alot to foist on a young QB who wasn't a 'no doubter' talent coming out of school.

His upside to me is safe floor and in the Purdy mode. He doesn't run, so he better be a great passer.

Yeah, but unlike Purdy who came onto the field with absolutely no expectations even on a legitimate SB contender, Penix is almost being hailed as 'savior' like here.

I'm not looking at Penix with rose colored glasses. I see a possible great NFL QB, but for fantasy, his lack of running ability will cap his ceiling. Thus the reason why I give his best case scenario as a safe floor. He has the potential to score top 10 in fantasy, but he better be a hell of a passer and Atlanta better protect him in the pocket.

Well he’s my QB2 in a 12-team SF start-up, so I’m being as careful as one can in that situation. I suppose I can look both ways before crossing the street, and avoid walking under any ladders?

In a 14 team 1qb league, in the off-season I transformed my QB room from Purdy and Carr to Purdy, Penix, and Milroe.

Big fan as well. Great arm and a very good WR #1 to target. I know he's not much of a runner, but think he can be a Mahomes, 300 yard rushing type guy once he adjusts more to the NFL game and takes off when it's open.

Just traded for him in a 16 team, salary cap dynasty. HIs contract is cheap forever so had to pay more than I wanted but I needed a young QB and can use the money in other places.

I'm not sure drafting Penix and Ward with the last two picks is a bad drafting plan.

I can't do it in a league filled with guys that'll definitely scoop up QBs and sit on them all year just so I don't have one but otherwise...

Penix is talented and in a really good spot. It's like they built a team for Ridder, had some issues, worked em out and now Penix turn. He's got a top WR and back, good line, Pitts is annoying for not reaching immense potential but he's good.

I've kinda been on this kick lately- why is everyone so certain all of last year's rookie QBs are so much better than him for FF? Penix doesn't look like a chump to me at all

No, it’s his greatest attribute, so I’m happy to see his arm is fine.

If he can hit a couple, Bijan will have a day and then Penix day is probably pretty easy after.

I think this is the Ravens draw in dirt type basic plan every game. Whenever I see Lamar hit a couple, it's essentially over. You can't NOT be all geared up to stop he and Henry running and if you're gonna back up they will run all day.

You know what's weird? Everybody was anointing this guy in the press all summer and I've been wondering what on earth he had done to deserve it. I know he almost won the game against Washington and they were slobberknocking him in the announcer's booth, but I had no idea why they were or why his name was written in for the year in pen—and I still don't know why. I also know the football heads hated Cousins because he was making an offense that depends on play-action and motion go from the gun, which nuked the play-action part of it, but how does that make Penix' performance one to fawn over?

He might be great. I don't even try with quarterbacks. But he didn't have great numbers and there were some ugly, ugly throws. He'll have had all offseason. Now we find out.

Off to a pretty solid start. In my mind he was a QB2, with QB1 potential (I was screaming his name pre-draft as the top QB on here)... This is why.
