I want to say it was a little more than a week ago Raheem Morris was cited as saying he didn't want to be "that guy" that started a rookie QB before he was ready. Assuming he meant what he said, do they have to play Penix this week? There's a lot tipping the Giants motive these days. Like last week, Cousins couldn't get them past New York? Perhaps faulty but I think Michael Penix is ready & he has said as much."I think they play to win, this isn't to see if they have their QB of the future. With just three games left in the season, the Falcons (7-7) playoff probability is 31%, according to NFL.com. ..."
To me, decisive to nearly every outcome is which team is more often in the right play on both sides of the ball. It's huge! Coaches concerned with their young QB do him no favor subjecting him to tendency & discernible sets.
More recently:
"... Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson said the team had a walk-through Wednesday with about 72 offensive snaps and that Penix threw the ball on every one of them. ..."

Cousins backs Penix, 'didn't forget how to play QB'
Less than 24 hours after being benched, Kirk Cousins said he will do what he can to help new Falcons starting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. -- and told the rookie as much in a phone call Tuesday night.
Pre-draft scouting reports:
"His ball-handling skills behind the line of scrimmage are underrated when it comes to hiding the ball on play-action fakes & fooling the defense into flowing the wrong way."
"Possesses enormous hands to control the football. Sees pressure creeping up pre-snap and gets himself protected."
A week 16 projection:
"Keep an eye on any increase in play-action fakes, specifically bootlegs. Conceivably, this offense will unlock a new element they have lacked all year."
3 burning questions after Atlanta Falcons turn to Michael Penix Jr.
The Atlanta Falcons will have to answer these massive questions after turning to rookie Michael Penix Jr.
According to NFL Draft Tracker Penix has 10.5in hands, which means he can fully grip & wave the ball all around, influencing defenders & opening up the backside of a play. A skill he's clearly aware of & has previously utilized.
Those three things, that he can just flick 50-yd frozen ropes, effectively sell misdirection in the backfield & read what he's seeing on the pre-snap! Those are attributes we should see utilized. I think the only reason Penix doesn't put up a 30-burger is because the Giants struggle offensively.
